### 2/5 — Drops one or both

*2023-04-07*

The app consistently drops one or both of the hearing aids. The only way to get everybody back on track is to restart the app.

In reading reviews, the developer response frequently is “contact us we have workarounds.” Marc, if you have workarounds, why don’t you share them with everyone by adding them to your description of the app? That would save a great deal of frustration if the workarounds actually work.

**Developer response:** Dear Mike, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. As our workarounds vary depending on the specific issue and device, we direct people to our email in order to tailor the solution to their present circumstances. In this way, we can easily follow up if more information is needed. There is also a FAQ section on our website, https://www.hearingsolutions.philips.com/, where you can find the answers to typical questions. Kind regards, Marc

### 3/5 — App hangs on certain screens

*2023-02-26, version 2.5.0*

I have had to delete and re-download the app several times. When you are trying to troubleshoot why your aids are suddenly not pairing, the instructions refer to “turn your aids off and on” or “unpair and re-pair” without telling you HOW. Assuming you know. So you click into more screens and then IT WILL NOT LET YOU GO BACK. so I sit here with paired aids but can’t adjust anything cause it is stuck in Demo mode with no way out. I am pretty tech literate so if I have trouble I can’t imagine how an older person can deal. Need user acceptance testing with older users.

**Developer response:** Dear Alison, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. We welcome you to contact us through one of our call centers at (800) 327-4779 or via email at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com. We can help you with the steps to pair and re-pair your hearing aids with the app. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Hearing Solutions

### 2/5 — Desperately needs an update

*2023-01-07, version 2.5.0*

This is a very clunky app. One or both ears disconnect several times a day. If your phone is not nearby the app says the aids are disconnected. The iPhone indicates you are connected. At times somehow the app changes sound settings on its own.

There must be a fix to this. Looks like it has been a very long time since this app was updated.

### 2/5 — Bare Bones

*2022-12-23, version 2.5.0*

I was instructed to download this app when I bought my hearing aids. It serves its purpose but nothing more. The equalizer function is worthless.
The volume control is useful to lower the volume in certain noisy situations. Would be helpful to have an Apple Watch version to control the volume when your in a situation where you need to lower the volume but don’t want to take out your phone.

### 2/5 — Constant Bluetooth connectivity issues.

*2022-12-21, version 2.5.0*

I really am enjoying the hearing aids. Dramatic change for me. That makes my app experience even more disappointing. Called the audiologist at Phillips two times. They both were great. Having followed their instructions I still have to reboot my iPhone multiple times a day to regain the Bluetooth connection in either one or both ears.

**Developer response:** Dear Fgsnyder, thank you for the feedback. We are happy that your Hearing Aids have helped with your hearing and we apologize for the inconvenience. We welcome you to reach out at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com with some more details, we have some workarounds that might be helpful. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 2/5 — Frustrating app to work with

*2022-12-13, version 2.5.0*

I purchased a pair of hearing aids, model 9030, from Costco 2 weeks ago. I really like the hearing aids but the app is very frustrating. They connect to my phone when I first put them on in the morning but after that it is a real hit and miss situation. They won’t reconnect automatically if I walk away from the phone. The majority of the time they will not reconnect even after powering everything down and turning back on. The only reliable way to stay connected is to carry my phone around with me all the time. Bummer!

**Developer response:** Dear Zappgator, thank you for the feedback and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Our Development team is always trying to improve our app, so we welcome you to contact us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com, we have some workarounds that might be helpful. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 2/5 — Terrible Streaming Quality

*2022-12-11, version 2.5.0*

App is ok to control the devices but streaming quality is terrible. Audio drops frequently and is often distorted. I can usually head callers although they complain of poor audio quality from my end. Honestly, the performance is what you would have expected from first generation Bluetooth. Short range, drops, poor quality.

**Developer response:** Dear Drgardner, thank you for the feedback and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Our development team is always trying to improve our app, so, if you would like to share in more detail the issues you are experiencing, we welcome you to contact us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 3/5 — When it works, it works. However

*2022-11-20, version 2.5.0*

The Phillips hearing aids seem to work fine. It’s the app, or even the hearing aids and how they link with the app that doesn’t work well. Occasionally both work to stream audio, or just one will work. This is after unpairing, deleting app, reinstalling… etc. Frustrating

### 3/5 — Need Upgrade for IPhone13

*2022-09-19, version 2.5.0*

I haven’t had any trouble with my hearing app until I upgraded my iPhone to a 13 mini series. Can’t get it to work. Help

### 2/5 — Missing options

*2022-09-15, version 2.5.0*

I used to have all three option on the remote control page: 1 General, 2 Speech in noise and 3 Classroom. On the latest update options 2 and 3 disappeared. Without the various options I have no need to keep this app on my phone. Solutions?

### 2/5 — Múltiple pairings required

*2022-08-01, version 2.5.0*

This app hasn’t worked well since I got my HA. Sometimes it shows both HA are connected but I’m only hearing sound from my iPhone on one. Other times it shows that the HA are not connected but I am hearing sound from the phone. I’ve had to pair them multiple times because of a lost connection with Bluetooth. App and iPhone versions are up to date. Very frustrating. I expected better from Philips. Will be looking at other brands next time I buy HA.

**Developer response:** Hi Wvbaldy,

We are sorry to hear about the inconvenience! We recommend forgetting and re-pairing your hearing aids on your phone after any major iOS updates. This can be done the following way: go to Settings - > Connected Devices (Turn on Bluetooth in case it is turned off) -> find the name of the hearing aids and click FORGET.

In case the issue persists, please reach out to Philipshearingsolutions@demant.com and we will do our outmost to help you out!

Best regards, Aron - Philips Hearing Solutions Consumer Care

### 3/5 — Battery listing

*2022-07-21, version 2.5.0*

The app works fine. You just have to remember to shut your phone down and repair when a new OS is loaded.

There also is a bug with the battery life as it shows 100% until you hear the notice your batteries need changing.

### 2/5 — Wonky app

*2022-05-22, version 2.5.0*

I have experienced a number of times where the app makes one of the aid’s volume go up to 100%. If I try to reduce the volume it goes back up. Even turning off the aids did not stop the automatic increase. Last time I needed to turn off my phone.

### 2/5 — Buggy enough to be annoying

*2022-05-14, version 2.5.0*

Used on iPhone and iPad. For something as critical as hearing aids you would think that the developers would have performed more testing. The BT connection is spotty and can require multiple app exits (full app exits, not just dismissing it to the background) and even phone shutdowns to get the app to connect correctly. Imagine if your glasses randomly went out of focus multiple times per day. The dev team should be ashamed to have produced this and then done nothing to fix it.

**Developer response:** Dear Yuefgbcutebyu, thank you for your review. We understand the frustration you feel and we would like to provide some workarounds for the issue at hand. I would advise for you to start off with the first one and move on to the next one if not successful, and if in any case you find some other issues I would then recommend for you to contact our call center directly so they can help you out on the spot.

The workarounds are the following:

1-	Forget the device from your phone device via phone Settings (not from App settings), then reconnect left hearing aid only via app
a.	Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
b.	Tap the Settings icon.
c.	Select Connected devices or Device Connection.
d.	Select Previously connected devices or Bluetooth.
e.	If the Bluetooth function is OFF, turn it ON. ...
f.	Tap the. ...
g.	Tap FORGET.

2-	Clear Cache: This workaround will delete all data used when pairing, so you can then pair up from the start from the app.
a.	Go to the Settings menu on your device.
b.	Tap Storage. Tap ""Storage"" in your Android's settings.
c.	Tap Internal Storage under Device Storage. Tap ""Internal storage.""
d.	Tap Cached data. Tap ""Cached data.""
e.	Tap OK when a dialog box appears asking if you're sure you want to clear all app cache.

3-	Visit your hearing care professional to reroute the hearing aid. We understand this last workaround is the most painful for users, so we encourage you to first try the previous two.

If you still have any questions, please feel free to write again or contact one of our centers with the details of your case.

With kind regards,

Marc Bernet

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App rarely connects to hearing aids

*2024-04-04*

App will rarely connect to hearing aids and when it does often only right. I have tried the re-pair instructions like turn off/on BT, turn off/on aids, disconnect other BT devices, restart iPhone etc
None of those reliably help. I even left my iwatch home this evening but still only R would connect when in a restaurant. To release an app that is incompatible with other Apple BT device is unbelievable.
A 2.4 overall rating is much higher than it should be.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. To improve connectivity, we recommend you keep the phone as close as possible and avoid having multiple devices connected at once. We also welcome you to contact us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com, we have more workarounds that might be helpful. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 1/5 — IPhone microphone

*2023-09-17*

When talking on my iPhone, the microphone only works if the hearing aids are connected or the phone is in speaker mode. If the hearing aids are not connected, the person I’m talking to can not understand what I’m saying. The sound is garbled.
I have unlinked and relinked Bluetooth. I have deleted and reinstalled app. I have wiped the iPhone and reinstalled from backup. The only solution I can think of is to buy a new phone and reinstall all information piece by piece. Reinstalling from backup would just reinstall the software problem.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. If the hearing aids are not connected to the phone via Bluetooth, there should not be an interference. We welcome you to contact us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com, we have some workarounds that might be helpful. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 1/5 — Hearing aids

*2023-03-03, version 2.5.0*

I’m ready to take them back - I had issues with phone calls cutting out. Took to Costco- there was an update- worked fine for a bit- still having issues where my Bluetooth doesn’t work in on ear - so frustrating guess I’ll be taking them back and looking into an alternative

### 1/5 — Worst Hearing Aid App

*2023-02-25, version 2.5.0*

Previous hearing aid apps allowed me to change the direction of the microphone so if I was in a crowded restaurant I could eliminate the noise behind me and focus on people in front of me. I don’t have that control with this app.

When I change from P1 to P2 the voices get muddy and the background noise is amplified and I can’t understand anything people are saying. It’s horrible. P2 is worthless. Generally I’m not happy with these hearing aids and the functionality of the app makes it even more frustrating.

**Developer response:** Dear SoHotSki, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. The programs can be adjusted by your hearing care professional, so that they adapt better to your needs. However, we welcome you to share some more details with us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com, we may have some workarounds that might be helpful. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2023-02-01, version 2.5.0*

Been a customer for couple of years. Every IOS update, app goes wonky. Your last update yr ago not good enough. Frustrating! App will not pair properly with Phillips 9010. Sporadic functions operable through settings, but not full suite. Pairing is w/iPhone SE 2nd gen. App loads , but remote functions unavailable. My workaround is the widget in control center, adequate but imprecise. Have done multiple app and system reiniatations.

### 1/5 — Disconnected

*2022-11-06, version 2.5.0*

This app always tells me my hearing aids are disconnected even when they aren’t. This happens everyday so I never know how much battery life that is left. Starts out at 100% but approximately 3 hours later it tells me that the hearing aids are disconnected. I thought the problem was the hearing aids but it appears to be the app

### 1/5 — Disappointed with app and hearing aids with an iPhone connection

*2022-09-23, version 2.5.0*

Just received a iPhone 15 and the best reaction is that when connected to the phone and the hearing aids all is good. However if you put your phone down and walk away everything fails from there. I loose connection with the app and also the iPhone.
To regain connection I need to restart the app and leave it running in the background and maybe the hearing aids may connect to the phone and maybe not. Not very happy as a new Philips user. Will continue for another week or so but if this is the way forward back to Costco they go. My old hearing aids by another manufacturer were rock solid with connections to the app and phone.

### 1/5 — Pain in the neck

*2022-07-25, version 2.5.0*

Often refuses to link with one of my aids- sometimes will after I restart everything - now it won’t at all. I’ve got a decent charge on both aids - app will only link with left. Thing is so unstable. Have deleted app and reinstalled and every other trick available. Fairly useless app

### 1/5 — Frustrated

*2022-07-13, version 2.5.0*

No issue with the hearing aids. The software app is terrible. The app worked for a few weeks but now will not go out of Demo mode. I have deleted the pairing with my iPhone, deleted the app, and shut my phone down to start fresh. Nothing works to remove Demo mode.
Why is there a demo mode in the first place?
Making a functioning working app should not be this difficult.

### 1/5 — Constantly re-pairing

*2022-03-25, version 2.5.0*

Ever since the latest iOS upgrade I have had to repair my hearing aids almost every day to get the app to work. This seriously needs to be corrected. I had a lot of trouble before with it connecting to certain apps and even to my iPhone when it would just intermittently stop connecting.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Works great with new hearing aids

*2022-06-26, version 2.5.0*

It wasn’t the app that was bad it was my new $2000 hearing aids. Given a loaner pair and everything works great. Waiting for a new pair. Very disappointed how defective they were.

### 5/5 — Great versatile application

*2022-04-29, version 2.5.0*

Easy to use, allows you to change programs quite fast.

### 5/5 — Update Worked!

*2022-04-08, version 2.5.0*

Latest iOS 15.4.1 worked and the HearLink app now works as designed with zero issues for me. If you had problems with constant re-pairing, update your phone and you’ll be golden.

### 5/5 — Strange issue

*2022-01-27, version 2.5.0*

I am really enjoying the use of my HA, I am using them since last August, but in this week I am suffering from losing the Bluetooth connection.
Is it related to the app functioning or the HA themselves? The connection loss occurs in both HA.
I hope I get an answer.
Thanks,

**Developer response:** Dear Me_user, in case of frequent disconnections, please try the following:

- Make sure you do not have many devices connected to your Bluetooth at the same time, as they may interfere with your connection.

- Toggle your Bluetooth. It helps to do so at first, and if the issue persists you can follow the next workaround.

- Clear your Bluetooth Cache, that usually helps connection. Go to your iPhone "Settings" app.
Select Bluetooth > If doppel appears, click the " i " toggle and "forget this device" to clear Bluetooth cache >Restart your phone.

Hope this helped! But please, reach out to us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com with the specifics of your case so we can better help you out.

Best regards,
Marc Bernet, Philips Hearing Solutions

### 5/5 — Connect hearing aid to Apple Watch

*2021-11-02, version 2.5.0*

Is it possible to connect my hearing aids to Apple Watch 7. Great connection to my iPhone and AppleWatch

### 5/5 — Compatibility with iPhone 12 Pro Max Issue

*2020-11-20, version 2.1.0*

My Philips Hearlink 9110 mini-rite hearing aids purchased in Oct 2020 have worked seamlessly via Bluetooth with my iPhone 11 Pro Max using the Hearlink app. However, that has not been the case with a newly purchased iPhone 12 Pro Max. I now get loud static and interference suddenly occurring when listening to a variety of apps in one or both of my hearing aids, and sometimes with Bluetooth on and not even actively using any apps. That issue has forced me on multiple times to disable the Hearlink app by turning off Bluetooth pairing to avoid hearing damage. I am assuming it is an iPhone 12 design problem and not a Philips hearing aid Bluetooth interference or app problem , but I wanted to make the issue known here besides with Apple. I do give the app a five star rating for use with my iPhone 11 but no stars for use with my iPhone 12.

**Developer response:** Dear strikelightningcrashthunder, you are completely correct. This problem seems to be mitigated now by Apple with the new update for Iphone 12 models: iOS 14.2.1. Please let us know if you face the same issues again. Thank you for your positive feedback on our app functionalities in Iphone 11. Best regards, Philips Hearing Solutions

### 5/5 — Easy app

*2020-09-30, version 2.1.0*

I am not sure what previous reviewers are taking about. The app is easy to function and has large writing so my mother can see it. The battery status is immediate and precise and find my hearing aids is fast and accurate

### 4/5 — Worked, didn’t work, now works again.

*2023-01-12, version 2.5.0*

Had my HA since June of 2022. Using my iPhone 11 and iOS 14, everything worked fine. Company made me upgrade to iOS15, suddenly the HA were very hit and miss. Upgraded again to iOS 16, everything is fine.

### 4/5 — Fixed

*2022-08-17, version 2.5.0*

Went back Costco with app problems listed in these reviews. They fixed. Settings, asessability, hearing devices. Turn off devices then turn on

### 3/5 — Great for two years and then….

*2023-07-08*

I’ve enjoyed having this app as it provides dual purpose. I use it as ear pod for calls and adjusting or changing my hearing aid options. Yesterday, they weren’t paired with phone (Same phone) so I tried to pair them and haven’t been able to ever since. I’ve tried everything they recommend. I even deleted the app and downloaded again. So frustrating and now I see others have had the same issue.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for reaching out and we are sorry for the inconvenience. Could you share some more details with us at philipshearingsolutions@demant.com? We will try to find a workaround that is helpful for you. Kind regards, Marc - Philips Consumer Care
