It’s on an iPad, if that helps. ### 1/5 — Randomly logged me out *2019-09-10, version 2.4.1* This app randomly logged me out and the refused to let me log back in with my information. I had to delete it and re download. It constantly crashes every five seconds. It keeps saying “playback error” even though my university’s wifi is perfectly fine. No matter where I am on campus, it doesn’t work. It would be nice if it worked in some of the school buildings at least, but this app doesn’t work there (much less my dorm room). Tried reaching out to their support but no fix possible. ### 1/5 — This app is absolute garbage *2019-07-02, version 2.4.1* I use Philo through my university, and it seems like every time I open the app I am harangued with a slew of bugs that prevent me from watching what I want. It constantly crashes and loads incredibly slow. It will oftentimes prevent playback, telling me that I’m accessing it from an “unsupported location” when I’m literally on my university’s WiFi. It will prevent playback because “airplay is not supported” when I am absolutely not using airplay at all. This app frustrates me to no end, more so given the knowledge that my university probably pays thousands upon thousands of dollars for this service that rarely if ever works. I have never written an app review in my life, but right now I’m missing the quarterfinal of the women’s World Cup because of this garbage app, so I thought I may as well vent how fed up I am with it. Just make it work. ### 1/5 — Stupid and annoying *2019-04-16, version 2.4.1* This app freezes the screen but keeps playing. It’s so annoying. Nothing works to fix it. Stupid app. Not worth it. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2019-04-11, version 2.4.1* This trash can of an app hardly works. 80% of the time you experience glitches were the video freezes. And the customer support tells you well its fine on our end. WELL ITS NOT. This app is never updated and its one of the worst streaming experiences I have ever had. 0 out of 5 stars. ### 1/5 — How can you enjoy an app when its main function doesn’t work? *2019-02-02, version 2.3.3* PhiloEdu works perfectly fine on nearly every other platform it is offered on. This app, however, is absolutely awful. Load times are ridiculous, both in opening the app itself and in attempting to stream anything you want to watch. How can you even ask someone to give your product anything more than 1 star when the apps functionality is fatally flawed? Listen to your consumers! ### 1/5 — FIX THIS BROKEN APP *2018-10-04, version 2.3.3* Just some helpful information, Bluetooth headphones ARE NOT AIRPLAY, so don’t cut off my content, get better app developers because this is one of the worst apps I have ever used it hardly ever works. Half of the time it says I’m not on the university internet when I clearly am. Doesn’t matter what tv show, movie, or channel this app is just plain awful. Make an Apple TV App. *2018-01-08, version 2.2.13* For the most part, this service is awesome. Occasionally there are some glitches, but overall it as an awesome commodity that schools provide for their students. The app works super well on iPad and iPhone. Although you can AirPlay to an Apple TV, it would be much easier if there were an app you could download onto your AppleTV instead. A must have app if you’re at a participating college. ### 4/5 — Great *2017-12-09, version 2.2.13* Philo is a great service for students. It works well for me and the fact that recordings are just stored in the cloud and not on your phone is nice. You can record as much as you want or watch live tv. The app has occasional glitches. I would really love to see an Apple TV app or an Xbox app to watch it on a tv ### 4/5 — Native AirPlay *2015-12-06, version 2.2.8* A great app for college students to be able to watch HD TV on campus because most universities don't provide HD channels. But what about the addition of native AirPlay? Being able to lock your phone and watch at the same time would really round off the app. It's annoying to have to keep it plugged in and always on just to watch Philo on your TV. ### 3/5 — Don’t download if you have an X *2018-09-09, version 2.3.1* Haven’t fully used it yet but looks fairly high quality. Big issue for people with iPhone X’s though, the formatting isn’t set up correctly so the search bar and settings button are covered up and inaccessible. ### 3/5 — Needs update *2017-12-01, version 2.2.13* Glitch when trying to watch the beginning of a recorded show as it is still on live. If a show starts at 8 and begins recording and I sit down to begin watching at 8:15 the show stops playing and glitches. ### 3/5 — Needs a batch delete function *2017-10-13, version 2.2.13* I use this through my university, it’s a great service. But there should be a batch delete function, if we want to select multiple episodes or shows to delete at once.
