Latest update requires location services to be turned on and I flat out refuse to do that. I deleted and reinstalled to try and get the latest version but all seems to be the same. I went out on a five day Brown Bear hunt here in Alaska and on the first day the app crashed so bad it wouldn’t even open. I saw three Brown Bears and didn’t get photos or video of any of them. What is the point of an app that will run without cell signal if you can’t depend on it. Even once I get home I still can’t open the app. Great trip, but it was ruined by an app failure. ### 4/5 — Great app! One request *2022-04-24, version 5.5.3* I love using this app and I believe it is great! One thing I would love to see in an update is the ability to hide the controls when viewing in landscape. I like to just view in real time, or just let me friends see what I am looking at, and only use landscape because it has the wider field of view, but on my iPhone, the top control bar, as well as the bottom one hides nearly a third of the screen, and is a bit frustrating. ### 3/5 — Who wrote this??? *2022-01-09, version 5.5.1* “For which optic are you using Phoneskope app for?” “Have you seen out lens kit for iPhone X/Xs Xs Max?” Are guys serious??? I can now zoom to x5.0 without this app I could only zoom to x1.45 due to the position of the cameras. ### 2/5 — Worthless *2020-12-13, version 5.5.1* Don't care to have the phone skope watermark on my images but it really didn't matter because I was only able to take one video before the app crashed and closed. Now every time I try to open it back up the app just closes out immediately on its own. The most recent release has been a complete disaster. Images getting saved to the camera reel tilted and mirror image, screen icons not doing what they’re supposed to do, and other bugs. Honestly, the only reason I use it now is if I want to use the 2x camera on my iPhone. Today I saw a bird I wanted to photograph, so I got him in the scope, attached the phone and opened the app. Now I’m being asked to log in or create an account - no way to skip it. Are you kidding me?! This isn’t optional and you’re asking me now? It has a field for phone number which is marked “optional”, but you can’t skip it. Naturally once I got it all set up the bird was gone. I’ll manage with your sub-par software, but you better believe I won’t be recommending your adapter/software combo to anyone. ### 1/5 — Does not work at all! *2020-02-27, version 5.1.3* Crashes immediately ... iOS 13.3.1 on an iPhone 7 ... all that hype for this? Seriously?!! ### 1/5 — Still a work in progress *2019-12-18, version 5.1.1* After the most recent update on Dec 15th, the app crashed continuously. I had to uninstall the previous version and reinstall the new version on my iPhone X before it would work again. Even after reinstall, it sort of worked for a while, then started crashing at launch again. In the new app, when it doesn’t crash immediately on launch, there are several issues: The new segmented selectors for some features like timer and exposure modes are black for all except the selected feature. The timer feature does not appear to work. No matter what I select for the timer, the pictures are taken immediately, doesn’t seem to matter if I press “Start” on the timer setup screen either. Really hoping these issues can be resolved to make the app work as intended! I’m a huge fan of their phone cases and optics adapters. The new version on 12/18/2019 is still broken. Crashes on first launch. Uninstalled and reinstalled, continues to crash. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — worthless App *2024-05-10, version 5.5.6* After finishing a video it just spins and nothing else, then you want to make another video, well it loses the enitre last video and nowhere to be found it gets lost or deleted. Crashes and not saving clips and more.. *2023-09-04, version 5.5.5* Do not use this app. Your iPhone is capable of everything you need to switch lenses, focus and exposure adjustment. This app has gimmicky features that hog processing power and dumb prompts that trip up work flow when digiscoping. The app crashing periodically has always worried me and tonight it crashed while filming the biggest buck of the trip as he slipped into the cover and the clip is give forever.
