### 2/5 — Wanted to love it.

*2024-11-17, version 3.3.81*

We tried using this app for over a year. My child really liked it and was improving in her reading with it. But it has lots of glitches. I wrote in several times describing the glitches. They would correct them but we would be without the app for a week or 2 at a time while we waited for them to fix it. We then got to a level that 50 something. That it freezes on the same exact part every single time. The app won’t advance past that part. I wrote them and it month later it still wasn’t fixed. I even sent videos of the problem. This is an expensive app and has far to many glitches to pay a premium to not have it work. We have abandoned the app because it interrupted our daily flow to often and cost too much for me have to keep writing in about glitches. I think they have a good idea but it needs some polishing for the price. The customer service is kind and responsive but we don’t have the budget of time or money to continue helping the app reach its full potential.

### 2/5 — Issues with app

*2024-10-08, version 3.3.81*

I loved the content of this app, but there were glitches in the app and it would not let us log in. After erasing and redownloading this app multiple times and doing all the things, I am giving up. I wish I had not based our curriculum around this app!

### 2/5 — Could be a lot better

*2024-08-13, version 3.3.79*

For the price you pay for this app, it is super glitchy. For example, my daughter can’t complete a lesson because one of the games asks her to click on the box if she hears the “a” sound and it only says the “r” sound over and over.

It also just shuts down a lot as you playing on it.

### 2/5 — Hasn’t worked

*2022-11-04, version 3.3.69*

I used to use this app, and liked it for my preschoolers, but haven’t been able to use it for years. It always crashes. Too bad!

### 3/5 — So much potential-nothing has changed

*2022-09-07, version 3.3.69*

2022 Review:
Appears the developers have not fixed the issue from 2017. Web developers in the family and wonder if the developers who work on this are stateside or overseas. We are through the first 2 floors of the museum-equivalent to 30 lessons in the paper curriculum. The app has hung up 3 times so far. Logging out and in has allowed kiddo to continue, but this last time she only progressed through a couple of items in the first portrait before it stopped working. Currently using 3.5 gig’s of storage on our device with 30 of 155 lessons completed. We've removed all photos, movies, and music One should not have to remove and reinstall this completely.

2017 review There really is potential here, but it needs more work. The data is stored server side, but as we progress the app takes up more and more space on our device and we have to delete it and reinstall from the App Store with greater and greater frequency. We are currently 18 letters in on part 1 of 2 for kindergarten. We are using the app in conjunction with the print curriculum, so still making progress but I kind of wish there was a parental way to skip lessons as we sometimes work through a good chunk on paper and it would help if I could progress from where we are rather than having every activity locked. At first my child was excited to do the lessons, but some of the listening ones like the jack in the box or pig laughing are getting old and she has started to refuse to do some specific ones. Also, the pronunciation of the phonic sounds includes a very strong shwa or a vowel, like saying rah for R rather than urh in songs and videos, which the written text instructs to be careful not to include. It’s frustrating to experience the contradiction.

### 2/5 — We LOVED Phonics Museum BUT…

*2022-07-18, version 3.3.69*

We have used this app for years with multiple children. We lie the app itself and the way it teaches phonics, but after numerous, repeated technical issues I am losing patience. We’ve reached out to Customer Support many times. We got a response once, with a suggestion that didn’t work. No response to later emails. My kid keep asking to practice their phonics, but we’re now going on four months that I’ve been paying and couldn’t access the app at all on any device and still no help from customer support. I think we’re done with Phonics Museum.

### 4/5 — Love this app... BUT .. waiting....????

*2021-05-08, version 3.3.69*

Hello! I’ve been using this app for over a year now with my younger twins— they’ve both reached floor 10 a bit ago- cannot go any higher in this app...
I recently bought the 1st grade curriculum -

and was told LAST YEAR- (when i had called about an order)
that the plans were in progress for this app to have a total of 25 floors (so that it could be used seamlessly in conjunction with the phonics museum First grade level...)

14 months later.... I’m still waiting...

and hoping!!

My boys have enjoyed the app (and with their 2 younger siblings) I really hope you DO continue to grow this app out to coincide with the first grade curriculum. It was a big pull for me (as a mom of 6- the app time freed me up to work with another child more easily... and knowing it was enforcing what we’d been learning together.

Can you please give us an approximate date? My plan expires soon- I’m unsure if I should renew subscription (?)

🤷🏻‍♀️😬😊

Thanks

### 2/5 — Really wanted to like this, not worth the cost!

*2021-02-24, version 3.3.69*

We use the Phonics Museum Curriculum for kindergarten and first grade and I was excited to have an app that would introduce letters in the same order we were studying and sight words for practice that matched ours, but this app is so cumbersome to use. If you don’t use it everyday, your child will be far behind in the app, so if you continue schooling through the curriculum but haven’t used the app in a few days the child will still have to be a few lessons behind. There really needs to be a way to skip ahead. My child enjoys the app, but I really want her to be able to do the lesson we are currently learning.
Also, I paid $100 for this app which I think is quite extreme and I have had technical issues for over 2 months and can’t even log in anymore. Customer support has been very slow in response times and has not resolved the issue to date. In my opinion this app is definitely not worth the money.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2020-09-28, version 3.3.55*

I loved Phonics Museum years ago when my older daughter used it. The songs were great, the lessons were fun. We used the whole curriculum kit with the little museum where you create your own museum with the cardboard cutouts and artwork. That being said, it was a no brainer to go with Phonics Museum when my younger daughter entered kindergarten. I just want to know what happened. We purchased the app over the summer, had some problems logging in a few weeks later. Had to use technical support that got back to me, and said that my subscription would be extended due to the inconvenience once the bugs were fixed. Fair enough. I get it. Well, I ended up having to repurchase the app anyways once the bugs were fixed, but not only that, my daughter has only completed the third letter, and we are back to not being able to log in again. I reached out a week ago to resolve the issue, but nobody has returned my emails. I am so disappointed because I usually have only good things to say regarding veritas press. I’ve recommended this particular curriculum to I don’t know how many people. It is just disappointing when you pay twice, product still doesn’t work, and customer service drops off the map.

### 3/5 — Kid has a disrespectful attitude

*2020-08-26, version 3.3.55*

I agree with the other review. My kids love playing with this app, but I hate that the kid has a disrespectful attitude and says “dumb”.

### 1/5 — Too many technical difficulties

*2020-08-11, version 3.3.55*

Keeps having technical difficulties that result in frustration and an inability to use the app!

### 4/5 — Problems with login

*2020-07-04, version 3.3.55*

I am on the 2 month free trial and love the app, however, I’ve been locked out and I am unable to get back in. I’ve changed the password several times. There is no way to contact the service, so we’re screwed. The app renews in a week and though I had planned on paying for the whole year...I am now deleting the entire app.
I am sure I am not the only one with this issue. They have probably lost a lot of business due to these issues. Disappointed, as we loved it.

### 1/5 — Bad customer service, lots of bugs and problem with subscription

*2020-06-25, version 3.3.55*

We signed up for the 2 month trial. At the end of the trial, we were charged for the subscription. However, we could not sign in to the apps since it forced us to re subscribe. So i had to cancel the subscription and re subscribed. And re download the content of the app. If I tried to login from another device in which my daughter also used to complete her assignment, the whole problem resurfaced. It took almost 4 hours for every resubscription and redownloading. Contacted the customer service and no reply even after 24 hours. Not to mention all the crashing and long loading (up to 1 hour) even during the free trial. It is very discouraging to my daughter after few problems.

### 1/5 — Must have extra storage!

*2020-06-03, version 3.3.55*

My son has liked using this app. I consider it candy as opposed to a true curriculum option. The biggest surprise is the amount of storage space it needs! We’re only a couple of lessons in and the app is already taking up the most space on my iPad, at almost 2 GB.
Correction and further star downgrade: we just started “R” and this app has eaten over 4 GB! Deleting immediately.

### 1/5 — Needs major bug fixes

*2020-06-02, version 3.3.55*

I’m very frustrated because I’m a paying customer- just paid again May 23 and it keeps asking me to renew my plan and won’t let my child play the game. When I do get into it, it boots me out and I have to do the entire sign in/sign up song and dance again. I know that this is a great program...when it works. I’m really sad that we can’t use it.

### 2/5 — Not letting us login, despite active paid subscription

*2020-05-27, version 3.3.55*

Unable to access the program, even though our subscription is paid and active. When I attempt to login through the app, I’m redirected to a prompt requiring me to purchase a subscription (which we already have).

The learning program itself is top notch and I’m glad our 3rd child can do his own Veritas Press learning like his older siblings.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Might be the worst app

*2026-05-05, version 3.3.100*

Had to create account 3 times, each time I would enter in my subscription and pay, then it would freeze and sign me out so I would have to sign in again but then saying I had to create account again and pay a AGAIN. Not exaggerating when I say the literal worst app

### 1/5 — Clunky

*2025-09-08, version 3.3.92*

I have used this app on and off for years. The app is so incredibly clunky and difficult to use. Even just at the beginning when I can't even rotate my phone to enter the login and password. Or that I can't paste my login and have to keep reentering it if I get the password wrong or need to have a password reset done. I did the password reset twice and only got one email. Then, the updating of the profile takes a very long time. Then the app itself is very difficult to navigate. The song is of utmost importance yet extremely difficult to find. This is supposed to supplement the curriculum that we use at home. Quickly and readily available. But it's not. It is easier and less complicated to use Phonograms as a free app then pay $10 a month for an app that is so antiquated it's incredibly difficult to use.
I would love it if this app was updated to be more updated (not the characters but the app itself, and was more user friendly. It has always been the way it is now so I don't know that it will change but even over the last several years nothing has changed and the reviews are pretty accurate.

### 1/5 — Tried it for ten minutes

*2025-03-16, version 3.3.88*

We tried this for about ten minutes. The explanations and gimmicks are overdone, and the kid in the museum starts out saying how dumb art is and keeps it up from there. The whole tone is “we’re trying really hard to make boring learning fun” - a good app would show kids how fun real learning is just by helping them do it!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t Even Work

*2023-02-22, version 3.3.69*

It won’t even let me sign up in the app and continually crashes. Get a new app developer, please. I’m sure this would be helpful to have as a resource for homeschooling. It looks promising but doesn’t deliver.

### 1/5 — Will not let me sign up

*2022-08-31, version 3.3.69*

I keep trying to create an account and the app will not move on to the next page. Even tried it on different devices. Still nothing.

### 1/5 — Do Not Buy!!!! Can’t Cancel!!!

*2022-04-30, version 3.3.69*

I’ve been trying to cancel for weeks. Every time I try I get an invalid link or a webpage with random letters and numbers. So frustrated!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Stopped working after a week

*2022-01-25, version 3.3.69*

This is my second attempt at purchasing the app a year apart from each other. The kids love it when it works, but the app is unusable. It stopped working after about a week. It is frozen on the log-in page. My kids are disappointed, and I’m frustrated they don’t have access to something we purchased. I reached out to veritas press and have heard no response. Also, they have to start from the very beginning of the program each time - there is no measure of prior knowledge, so my older child is stuck having to go through the content he has already mastered to get to skills he needs to focus on. It would be great if I could use it, but I can’t. Save your money.

### 1/5 — What app?

*2021-07-08, version 3.3.69*

The app was included with a package we purchased. After several months and many phone calls, emails and service chats, we have not accessed it once. I have it on my calendar to call or email every two weeks just to be told the “supervisors” are “working on it.” This is an improvement, however, I was previously told I had a log-in email but must not know how to read email. I love so many things about Veritas, but it goes this way sometimes.

### 1/5 — Hot garbage.

*2021-06-24, version 3.3.69*

App doesn’t work most of the time. Unable to progress and have to call support. Super frustrating. Used for several months, wasted way too much time and money. Trying to cancel is beyond frustrating.

### 1/5 — Can’t Cancel

*2021-02-25, version 3.3.69*

DO NOT get this app, do not start the free trial. I’ve been trying to cancel this subscription for days and the link in settings for managing subscription either sends you to an invalid webpage with a bunch of jibberish or to the itunes music store. It’s already charged me for renewel once and I’m still trying to cancel.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Supplement

*2024-03-21, version 3.3.69*

We really enjoy Veritas press phonics museum curriculum for our kindergartner. She still struggled with a few concepts and staying focused. The app is a great compliment. She finds it fun and engaging. Helps reinforce the material we cover each week.

### 5/5 — My girls love it!

*2023-12-11, version 3.3.69*

It’s one of the favorite parts of my girls’ day! Fun songs and activities

### 5/5 — Great supplement to curriculum

*2021-05-18, version 3.3.69*

This is great as a fun way to reinforce the concepts taught in the Phonics Museum curriculum.
I do wish you could skip ahead and that it continued through to the first grade lessons.
But both my little ones enjoy it.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-03-29, version 3.3.69*

My kid is going through this now. She loves it. She thinks percival is hilarious. Definitely recommend.

### 5/5 — Very fun and effective, very few problems

*2020-05-22, version 3.3.55*

We LOVED this app!! It is so creative and fun! My son (4 1/2 years old) loved it, and quickly learned the letter sounds and how to sound out words! This really did get him started on reading and writing. I heard him singing the songs to himself a lot, too, and teaching what he had learned to some of his toys. 😊 Such a fun and effective way to learn phonics!

We had very little trouble with the app. Occasionally it would shut down or a video wouldn’t play correctly. But this only happened a few times. We were always able to restart it and it would work again. Very few problems.

We loved it! I highly recommend it!

### 5/5 — EXCELLENT!!!

*2020-05-04, version 3.3.55*

This is such a great app! We are using the Phonics Museum curriculum from Veritas Press, so this app is a perfect accompaniment to what we are already doing. I love that it aligns with the printed paper curriculum perfectly. We have had no glitches or issues with the app so far. I think it’s really well done—Miss Biddle plays her part perfectly. ❤️

So far the app looks very though...you might be able to use the app exclusively to teach your child to read if they are old enough (age 4/5), and you give direct oversight to make sure they are comprehending the material, and not just playing. I personally still prefer hard copies of everything, so I plan to use both the print materials as well as this app. But if you’re looking to save money and streamline your phonics curriculum, I would put this forward as a top choice to consider.

### 5/5 — My Kids Love It!

*2020-02-11, version 3.3.42*

My kids really love this app. They are ages 5 and 7 and they’ve learned a lot while having fun. The only thing I wish was different would be that it was available on tablets so that they didn’t have to use my phone or specifically Apple products.

### 5/5 — Worth it!

*2020-02-05*

This is an app developed by a private school. They has won many awards for their reading program. They have a homeschooling division and I use their full curriculum to teach my 4 children, ages. This app came out when my 4th child started school. It has been such a great help, a tool I would highly recommend using. My son absolutely loved this reading program, I would have to limit him on how many he could do in a day. He loved going back to the “library” section on the app and re-read the books he had learnt to read. I love that this app is a full years curriculum that is fun and has a human being inter acting with animated characters, teaching it. It is also multi sensory.

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2019-08-28, version 3.3.41*

Hi. I love the app. It looks so much fun for kids who are learning how to read. I am however having trouble getting past the login page of the app. Anyway, thanks for making such an awesome app.

### 5/5 — It’s working great for us!

*2019-08-27, version 3.3.41*

I’m listening to my 6 year old read to the app as we speak and I love it. She has struggled to stay engaged with the reading curriculum we have use and it’s been slow going. She loves this app and asks to do it daily! I can see the improvement when we work together and when she reads with me. Thank you!!
