### 4/5 — Great tool

*2024-08-29, version 1.1.2*

I appreciate this tool to pull up and quickly be able to double check if the kids for it correct or not, but /ou/ is missing a sound. Which lead us to having to re learn it. An update would be great.

### 4/5 — Missing phonogram

*2024-08-01, version 1.1.2*

This app could use a small update. It’s missing the es phonogram.

### 4/5 — Use this all the time!

*2023-09-15, version 1.1.2*

This is an easy and fun way for kids to learn and review their phonograms. I recently noticed that there are missing advanced phonograms though. (Like mb /m/) do you plan to add them?

### 3/5 — Effective but dull

*2018-12-17, version 1.1.2*

Good software for drill, but very dull snd the levels are long. Even I got bored helping my child through it. As “school” it does a good job but it is not self motivating.

### 3/5 — Why they didn’t link examples??

*2018-10-05*

Why they didn’t link examples to presented phonograms is beyond me? Such a simple thing to illustrate the sounds...and visual learners would benefit greatly by having examples popping around while the sounds are being sounded out. Also, at the end of each level creating words with practiced phonograms would take this app to superior level. For now only 3 stars app as it does not offer real learning... but with these suggested add ons it will be great.

### 4/5 — Great Supplement to the full Logic Of English Curriculum

*2016-09-09, version 1.1.2*

This app is a useful supplement to the complete Foundations Logic of English program we are using in our homeschool. It helps reinforce advanced phonics with my kiddos while freeing me up to do other things, and is able to show what sounds/concepts they may need me to review with them. My only complaint is that some of the sounds are over-pronounced (the letter "w" is miss-pronounced "wuh"), a sadly common dificulty with phonics teaching resources.

### 2/5 — It could have been so much more...

*2015-11-07, version 1.1.2*

I was not going to criticize the app, because it does drill students on the phonograms. It's just that it could have been so much more... Drilling in different ways. The last straw was the 15 student limit. Who has 15 students?

### 2/5 — Needs Much Improvement

*2015-08-12, version 1.1.2*

Not impressed, I expected that I would have the ability to use the app like flash cards.

### 5/5 — perfect for my son!

*2015-03-15, version 1.1.2*

This app allows kids to focus on the variety of sounds a single group of letters can make in the English language. This app did what 2.5 yearst of reading practice and special assistance in school failed to do for my son. Totally worth the $3 for my boy!

### 5/5 — Is awesome and does exactly what it is supposed to!

*2015-02-06, version 1.1.2*

This is an app designed to support a method of teaching reading and spelling that will get rid of illiteracy if implemented. It is awesome for struggling readers, dyslexics, and all those tired of hearing how hard English is, when it is not! Hence the name, Logic of English! Got for my four! What a great way to practice all the phonograms and track multiple students progress! Thank you. It is even better than I thought it would be.
Loving even more as we use! Truly a great tool to strengthen phonemic awareness! My 7 year old can't get enough!

One note: found 1 error on level 3. The letter is l but the sound is d .Please fix when you can. Thanks.

### 2/5 — Not working properly

*2014-10-04, version 1.1.1*

It might need updating to work with the current IOS update. It will not advance between problems which makes the learning game tedious for my child. I will update my review if they fix the problem.

### 3/5 — Love it but Does not work in iOS 8

*2014-10-02, version 1.1.1*

Love that this simply teaches all the phonograms. The game does not advance between questions in iOS 8 - needs a bug fix :( works great if you have a device running an old version of iOS.

### 5/5 — Needs Upgrade

*2014-10-02, version 1.1.1*

I found this app very helpful to use in my classroom. It helps keep track of the sounds the kids have mastered. However, since I upgraded to iOS8, the app does not work correctly. I hope it gets fixed soon.

### 5/5 — Up grade the app to work with iOS 8

*2014-09-24, version 1.1.1*

I love the app unfortunately since I upgraded to IOS 8 The app doesn't work anymore hopefully the developers can fix this with an up date

### 5/5 — Succinct support for learning phonograms

*2014-05-01, version 1.1.1*

It's a handy resource to both present and practice the correct pronunciation of the phonograms in the Logic of English programs. Easy to navigate and visually friendly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — WORST GAME EVEr

*2020-09-15, version 1.1.2*

Okay so I would do 0 stars because this game is SO BAD I learned nothing garbage appp if you reading this NEVER get it

### 1/5 — No sound

*2019-02-08, version 1.1.2*

I purchased this app and now it has no sound. I have an iPhone 8.

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2014-12-20, version 1.1.2*

The system doesn't allow me to give a zero for rating.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2014-12-02, version 1.1.2*

You can't do anything with this app.
I wasted $3.00

### 1/5 — Terrible don't buy

*2014-10-29, version 1.1.2*

There are sounds but no examples by word. This app is very confusing and complete useless. I have wasted 2.99

### 1/5 — Crashes...

*2013-11-14, version 1.1.1*

I was excited for this app, but have asked for a refund due to crashing issues.

When I first went into the app to type in a user name, I was able to.
[It was one slot below the first available slot, so I went to move it up.]

1: After trying to type in the user name in the top slot, no text showed up.
2: I decided to ‘copy’ and ‘paste’ from the second slot to the top, and it crashed… on multiple attempts.

Bugs can creep into apps, however, crashing issues are a ‘no go’ for me.
[Also not being able to type in the user name is not good either.]

Conclusion: Cool concept, but disappointed the issues were there, as it appeared they had been addressed. [After reviewing older comments and the description for the new update.]

### 1/5 — Should not teach all sounds for a phonogram at once

*2013-09-07, version 1.1.1*

I am a reading specialist and this app is not effective at teaching the vowel patterns. It is not helpful for kids to hear three sounds made by a single letter group all at once and so quickly. Waste of my money as I only bought it for the vowel patterns. Too much auditory input at once for students just learning the primary sound for these patterns. Phonics knowledge builds over time and I do not learn all three possible sounds for a combination at the same time.

### 1/5 — Does not work!!

*2013-06-08, version 1.1.1*

This app did not work AT ALL! Waste of money - no functions work.

### 1/5 — Should of listened

*2013-06-06, version 1.1*

The app doesn't work. Won't even open. Don't waist your money!

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2013-06-05, version 1.1*

I was VERY happy to find an app like this. DOESN'T WORK!! The app won't even open. I want a refund.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I can't believe it's free.

*2026-03-08, version 1.1.2*

Thank you so much for the app.

### 5/5 — Great tool to go with Logic of English curriculum

*2023-02-02, version 1.1.2*

As a homeschooler, I chose Logic of English for our ELA. We love the program. I hope as we move to the advanced phonograms, the app is updated to include them.

My only complaint is some of the phonograms don’t have all the sounds e.g. OU is taught with 5 sounds but I can only hear 4 in the app.

### 5/5 — Please add advanced phonograms!

*2021-02-13, version 1.1.2*

My kids use this every morning for review. As a result, they know all the sounds of each phonogram by heart. I was disappointed when we moved on the advanced phonograms and they were not included. Please update or make a second app. This app is very useful for memorization.

### 5/5 — Love the LOE app

*2020-09-30, version 1.1.2*

I love this app. I just the LOE as out homeschool curriculum and this supports that program perfectly.

### 5/5 — If you don’t understand how great this is, then you don’t get it!

*2020-05-14, version 1.1.2*

LOE has saved the day for me and many of my students! This comprehensive, easy to understand language instruction is what every school system should be teaching children at the most basic primary level. Thank you for giving us this app. My kids enjoy playing the game portion and comparing how far they have gotten.

### 5/5 — My kid’s love it

*2020-02-26*

My kids 4,6 and 9 all love it and it’s very helpful. Just the sound for “th” isn’t right . If they could fix that , it would be great.

### 5/5 — A true ESL/ELL gem!!

*2019-08-20, version 1.1.2*

The LOE app supports their reading program in the most accessible and common sense way possible. I like the simplicity of the app—without all the bells and whistles of other apps that look and sound good, but are low on substance. The app does exactly what it claims it will do, and actually much more, because it teaches an expanded list of phonograms that are not taught by most traditional reading programs.

Since using the LOE program and the app, my ESL students have “clicked” with their English language learning and are not as confused when they come across “exceptions to the rule” because LOE reduces exceptions to a minimum.

I can see this approach may not be for everyone because we’re entrenched in our traditional learning, but give it a try. You may find that this will be your first approach, rather than your “last resort”.

### 5/5 — Awesome Learning Tool

*2018-08-07, version 1.1.2*

My granddaughters are using this app as a supplement to the Logic of English curriculum. This is a fantastic and comprehensive approach to learning phonics that is put together in an organized way that is easy for anyone to use. My 6 year old granddaughter can sit and review her phonograms easily by herself. The app is user friendly! It also allows you to set up custom levels to work on specific sounds. My granddaughters are making wonderful progress since we began to use this curriculum and app. Also, I had a question for the app creators and they responded to me very quickly.

### 5/5 — Logic of English is GREAT!

*2017-01-20, version 1.1.2*

This app is straightforward. No cutesy cartoons. It pronounces phonic sounds and the child chooses the phonogram that matches. It tracks which ones are mastered. This teaches all the sounds of "ough" "aigh" and so on. It really helps decoding. It helps students make sense of it all. My 3 yr old is doing it now. Research a minute on "Logic of English".

### 5/5 — Perfectly simple and effective

*2015-05-14, version 1.1.2*

As a parent, psychologist, home educator, app developer, and regular person, I say: THIS is one of my favorite apps. I greatly appreciate that there are no games or gimmicks or bells and whistles. It is simple and does EXACTLY what it claims to do. My kids have learned a lot from this app.
