### 2/5 — A good try, but ultimately of no use to me

*2024-05-26, version 1.2*

I can find no way of using it with iPhone 12 … because of the camera layout … and it seems unstable when using the iPad Pro 9.7”. __ Worst of all, however, is that [obviously] it is not reading Atrial signals, but my fingertip pulse … My pacemaker is dictating that rate, not the Atria !!

### 3/5 — Free for abnormality detection

*2023-02-21, version 1.2*

I don’t know yet how accurate it is but most other heart monitors charge extra if you want anything other than basic heart rate. This app offers more for free. But unfortunately half the time i use it it just doesn’t work, stays the toilet over and over even though i’m not moving

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2022-07-25, version 1.2*

I have had AF over 10 years and suffered a major stroke 9 years ago.
This app easily detects any incidences of AF (if you put your finger over the right bit of the camera).

### 1/5 — Useless

*2022-03-13, version 1.2*

Won’t even manage to get a 30 second reading without resetting over and over.

### 1/5 — Garbage. Doesn’t work

*2021-10-22, version 1.2*

It’s hard to believe they even have this on the App Store. It’s broke.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on newer iPhones

*2021-06-04, version 1.1*

Will not work on iPhones with multiple cameras because you have to put your finger over the cameras and the flashlight simultaneously which is impossible to do. Worthless if you have a new iPhone.

### 4/5 — Reliable

*2021-04-18, version 1.1*

Since I do not feel anything when I go into AFib, I have found Photo AFib to be a reliable detector in my two and half years of using the app.
Update May 2019: After a year and half of being in sinus rhythm, the app immediately detected that I had gone into AFib. That allowed me to be treated by cardioversion the next day. The app worked accurately before, during and after the AFib episode.
Update April 2021: Does not work on my new iPhone SE2. Keeping my old SE just to run Photo AFib Detector.

### 3/5 — Die trying

*2020-12-28, version 1.1*

This can be difficult to use. Sometimes will not give a basic reading. Not good when you are concerned with your heart.

### 4/5 — Screen writing messed up

*2020-11-20, version 1.1*

Is there an update to this app. I have used it for years and it has been great at detecting if I’m in AF. Recently when it gives me results, the screen writing is written on top of itself so you can’t really read it. Just make out if normal or abnormal. A small bug but no updates have been released.
Thank you

### 1/5 — Does not work on iPhone x

*2020-10-10, version 1.1*

Tried many times. It isn’t able to detect in iPhone x.

## Frequently asked questions about Photo AFib Detector (Lite)

### What does the Photo AFib Detector (Lite) app do?

This app is designed for personal AFib detection and heart rate monitoring. It utilizes your smartphone's back camera to capture a video of your fingertip, from which it extracts a photoplethysmography (PPG) signal. This signal is then analyzed to estimate parameters relevant for AFib detection and to monitor your heart rate.

### How does the app detect AFib?

The app captures a video of your fingertip using your smartphone's camera to extract a PPG signal. It then estimates two parameters, RMSSD (Root Mean Square of Successive Difference) and ShE (Shannon Entropy), which are used to assess for potential AFib.

### Is this app a medical diagnostic tool?

No, this app is not intended for medical diagnosis. It is a personal monitoring tool. If you have any doubts or concerns about your heart health, you should always consult with a physician.

### What information do I need to provide for heart rate monitoring?

To provide a heart rate monitoring function with a percentage of your maximum heart rate, you need to input your age in the app's settings. The app uses this information to calculate your maximum heart rate and then display your current heart rate as a percentage of that maximum.

### What are the system requirements for this app?

The app requires a smartphone with a built-in back camera to function. Specific operating system versions are not detailed in the provided description, but it is designed to run on smartphones.
