## What is Photo Time Lock?

The only time-delay controlled Photo Lock app is now available on App store. Support iPhone 5 & iOS 6.0

What is Photo Time Lock?

Using a secure, timer-locking feature, this app is the instinctive, intuitive, desired, and repeatable ability of an individual to voluntarily lock up anything (via photos contain combination of a lock), for any amount of time he or she selects, from 1 minutes to 365 days; items that are damaging to her health, or a threat to his very life.

Scenarios:

Gambling: An individual who knows that he has a gambling problem places all the “tools” of gambling (e.g. cash, checkbooks, credit cards, etc.) in a combination lockable container, scramble the combination and took a picture of the code via this app, and set a timer to lock this picture for 48 hours. Then he knows he will be out of gambling in the following two days.

Beer: A beer drinker buys a case of beer, 24 cans. At home, he puts 3 beers on the top shelf of the refrigerator and 21 in a combination lockable container. He locks the container and put it on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. He takes a picture of the randomly scramble combination via this app, and sets the timer-lock for 24 hours. Later in the day, could he go out and buy more beer? Yes, but a high percentage of individuals do not. Try it for yourself.

Features:

SECURE: The time of this app is verified via remote NTP server, thus tampering system time on the device will have absolutely no effect.

KEYHOLDER UNLOCK: a keyholder who has the passcode can unlock any individual photo anytime even the countdown timer has not been reached zero.

FLEXIBILITY: The lock time can be set from 1 minute to 365 days, in a minute interval.

How to use it?

1. You may need a box that can be locked with a combination lock, and you should be able to randomly scramble the lock setting without looking it (or let your beloved one do it for you).

2. Run this app, create a new photo lock, and then take a picture of the combination lock without actually read the combination, you can look at a thumbnail of the picture to assure yourself you’ve got a decent picture, but the thumbnail doesn’t give enough resolution to see the combination.

3. Set a lock time from 1 minutes to 365 days, in one minute interval, you can also turn on “Keyholder Unlock” feature thus the keyholder can unlock this photo anytime by enter a passcode. Then tap “Start” to start the lock. WARNING – do not do this until you have thoroughly read the help manual and understood completely how this app works.

4. The photo will keep locked until the time countdown reached zero or your keyholder unlock it. Once unlocked, you can view the photo containing the combination. Now you can undo the combination lock to open your box.

### 1/5 — No longer works.

*2026-05-17*

Bought app and doesn’t allow me to add any locks. Update it or remove it from the store.

### 2/5 — Crashes when using camera

*2026-01-15*

When I choose “take photo” and it tries to open the camera it crashes.

### 1/5 — Missing obvious features

*2025-12-22*

The idea is really good but it's missing two obvious and easy to implement features. 1) The ability to start the timer from the time you actually try to open the photo vault, not just from the time you created the vault, and 2) to relock the vault after it is unlocked and restart the timer. Those two simple features would make it actually useable for a lot more people. The way it is now I requested a refund from Apple.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2025-04-24, version 2.0*

Really like the simplicity. Very easy to use. I would however like the time limit to include years, not just days.
Also, when taking a photo of a combination, the thumbnail is still visible until you choose not to display it. Would be great to have blur thumbnail setting. Just to make sure you have all the dials included in your image but not to be able to see the actual digits.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2022-12-13*

Used to be great now it just crashes when trying to load

### 1/5 — The creators of this app never respond to emails. Terrible customer service

*2022-04-14*

creators of this app never respond to emails. Terrible customer service

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work!!!

*2020-03-04*

They claim that the time can’t be tampered with. If you change the time in the iPhone settings it effects the time on the app, hence tampered with. Due to this, the app is absolutely useless and a waste of $10.

**Developer response:** Dear Customer,

This app uses NTP to verify your local time to prevent people from get item unlocked earlier by changing the local time to a future date.

You can easily verify this by creating a locker and then going to your system settings to change to a future date, and if you come back to the app, you will see “system time is not matched” warnings under your new created locker, you can not unlock them unless the system time has been changed back and the schedule unlock time has been reached.

Hopes this explanation can solve your concern.

Regards

### 5/5 — Simple and elegant solution

*2018-03-30*

Easy to navigate interface and perfect functionality for the intended purpose. I appreciate the ability to take photos within the app and not have to mess with photos outside of the app.

### 1/5 — Just doesn’t work

*2017-11-01*

I have an updated iPhone 6. This app has to connect to the internet before it does anything; “anything” meaning EVERY time you look at it; however, it “can not connect to the internet” because it doesn’t work, even though there is Wi-fi and mobile data available and enabled. So, as a result, you cannot create a new timelock without several faffs of opening and closing or retrieve an old one if you have managed to create one in the first place.
I have emailed the makers three times but to no response.
It’s completely unreliable, frustrating and expensive, don’t waste your money.

### 5/5 — Five stars

*2017-05-06*

Excellent idea, functions as described.

## Frequently asked questions about Photo Time Lock

### What does the Photo Time Lock app do?

This app allows you to lock photos for a specific duration, ranging from 1 minute to 365 days. Once locked, the photo cannot be viewed until the set time has elapsed. This feature is designed to help users voluntarily restrict access to photos for self-control or accountability.

### How does the time-locking feature work?

When you lock a photo, you set a countdown timer. The app's time is verified via a remote NTP server, ensuring that tampering with your device's system time will not affect the lock duration. The photo remains inaccessible until the timer reaches zero.

### Is there a way to unlock photos before the timer is up?

Yes, the app offers a 'Keyholder Unlock' feature. If enabled, a designated keyholder with a specific passcode can unlock any individual photo at any time, even if the countdown timer has not reached zero. This provides flexibility for urgent access.

### What are some common use cases for this app?

Users might employ this app for various self-improvement scenarios, such as locking away gambling tools for a set period to prevent impulsive behavior, or limiting daily beer consumption by locking away excess stock for 24 hours.
