### 3/5 — Inconsistent

*2026-08-15, version 2.124*

Frequently is unable to distinguish between the background and the people. Constantly taking away some features and adding others so that I can’t count on what I’ll be able to do with this app. App has gone very far downhill and become much more difficult to use. It’s almost like they don’t want our business.

### 3/5 — Reliably Excellent Images & Face lock

*2026-08-15, version 2.124*

Love Photoleap, been using it for years. For the prices, it’s one of the best. I wish they would either pay to integrate or whatever to improve the animation up to the level of the other sites, because the animation is not so good or improve it themselves. Also, it seems they’ve gone stale on new features creative memes etc. I used to use it everyday, however the other AI sites are now so far ahead. I probably won’t renew my next annual subscription.

### 3/5 — Aging Like Milk

*2026-08-14, version 2.124*

Great concepts, terrible execution. All the AI features are stuck in 2021-22 with no desire to improve in performance or value. Photo to video, face swap, text image generator & transformer, all outdated and embarrassing. Used to be great but I think the Leap apps have officially been left behind

### 3/5 — Pic generator

*2026-08-12, version 2.124*

The content of pictures produced now has dropped, many times now totally unreal productions, strange suggestions. When my words are put into other apps , they produce what was asked

### 3/5 — Degraded Scene AI Filters

*2026-07-27, version 2.123*

With version 2.123, all of the Scene and Room AI filters and intensity level controls are severely degraded or non-functional. Choosing an AI filter in those categories (and sometimes in other tools as well) results in only minor color changes to the input reference image. The same errors occur on different IOS devices that I have tested. I submitted a support request a week ago. Otherwise, past versions of the app worked well.

### 2/5 — Used to be great

*2026-07-20, version 2.123*

App used to be great years ago, now total cash grab with a hefty serving of ai bootlicking:

you have to pay a hefty subscription to use basic tools and most importantly YOU CANT SAVE MORE THAN 3 PICTURES A DAY.

It’s absolutely ridiculous, on top of all this is the fact that I gotta scroll past like 5 ai “features” to get to do any simple thing is just mentally exhausting.

Yall ain’t adobe, there’s plenty of far better options on here, don’t go for this one.

### 2/5 — Lightrix Falling Behind

*2026-07-19, version 2.123*

I still consider Light Trix the best apps for phone media on the market. This includes their AI engine/models, which were some of the first to be made public for any app.

However, in my opinion, not only is Photoleap still limited compared to the desktop version of Photoshop, but their AI function has deteriorated ever since it’s Genesis. Indeed, the AI quality and detail has improved, but its originality seems to actually be going downhill. The images it generates seemed far more conceptual and even innovative in the first couple of years of development than it has now become. In some way, Photoleap’s generative AI function used to take a lot more liberties than it does now.

These days you see a lot more of the same type of image in different variations, even though it’s in greater detail than it once was. Back then you would see wildly different images from one to the next, even though indeed selecting the genre was still a part of the process.

Both Photoleap and Videoleap are very expensive apps, and both are very limited for the money. Videoleap hardly seems to generate any AI at all, and both apps are difficult to see the quality of what you’re doing while working on the limited size of a phone screen. I don’t have a tablet, but I’m assuming it would be the same types of functionalities for them.

But again, even more than the AI limitations are how limited the functions are when coupled with how small a screen I’m working with for both Lighttrix apps. I actually connected my phone to a larger monitor at one point and an attempt to get a better quality from photo leaf and Videoleap, but their limited functionalities were still an issue, even with the better monitoring. For this reason I’m forced to pay for the Adobe Creative Cloud, so that I can have decent quality and layering flexibility at any moment.

All of these factors combined mean that it’s not benefiting me to pay close to $100 a month for both Lightrix programs any longer. I may have to choose which one to eliminate if not both pretty soon, because I can’t afford to pay even more for their phone apps than I pay for my my essential creative cloud desktop apps, which seems to be what’s happening.

### 5/5 — My Favorite App

*2026-07-16, version 2.123*

I use this app daily for all my photo edits, the best I have found for my needs, I very highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Creativity excites my soul

*2026-07-10, version 2.123*

Love the versatility of this app!

### 1/5 — Weird hands, fake looking hair & skin

*2026-07-08, version 2.123*

So disappointed, purchased for headshots but it’s adding weird “AI” looking haves and my hair looks so fake against my face.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Paying for a service I don’t use

*2026-08-31, version 2.124*

I cancelled this app straight away and yet it still takes money out of my account even a year later. Please stop doing this. It’s a rip off and it’s unethical.

### 1/5 — A scam

*2026-08-29, version 2.124*

Don’t even try to

### 1/5 — Photoleap

*2026-08-23, version 2.124*

Love this app and always will. Would love to rate 5 but im so depressed they took it out the Play Store for Android. Why.....

### 1/5 — Free Palestine

*2026-08-20, version 2.124*

This app was made in Tel Aviv, often by former officers from Israel's military intelligence unit 8200.
When you use them, you are helping support Israel's military actions, including the occupation and v*olence against Palestinians.

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2026-08-09, version 2.124*

I wish I could load a picture. I merely said create a realistic picture of me, I have short pixie cut blond hair, and I am 55 and have a terrific smile. It turned me into a person wifh long brown hair about 18 years old and it made me look like I need some serious denfak care. They used to have a cool thing for pets. Their community standards will not allow you to change skin color, or any normal thing that is perhaps the tiniest bit not pc, it wont allow even when it is just a common thing. It makes women look like men automatically and if you don’t say the right thing it thinks your misgendering. The Ai is a nightmare. You can’t get anything done. ChatGPT or even Gemini is less expensive and does a heck of a lot more

### 1/5 — Slop

*2026-08-08, version 2.124*

Trash AI to replace their standalone photo editor.

### 1/5 — Gone downhill

*2026-07-27, version 2.123*

I’ve been using this app for a long time and primarily used the AI Scences option to edit photos. But it’s changed recently so that every result is similar and using different scenes also provides a similar result … I’m going from using this a few times a week to looking for a new app!

### 1/5 — Something went wrong

*2026-07-23, version 2.123*

This app is absolute garbage. I don’t know why the reviews are so good. Signed up for the free trial, throughout many tests I would get the “something went wrong” error. I’d click try again a dozen or so times and eventually it would work. Very frustrating. Tried reinstalling the app, tried on different networks, same result. I’ll go back to using ChatGPT or another app.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-07-18, version 2.123*

They billed me a year later, no warning nothing I forgot have a new phone do not even use this software as it was not what I expected and can get so much more from other softwares. I asked on the day of the bill to be refunded and they said no. Why would you need to bill me for something I won’t be using?

### 1/5 — Don’t use this app

*2026-07-09, version 2.123*

I started the 7day free trial and cancelled my subscription straight away so I would not forget. I have been charged $67 twice this year. Once in April and once in July. This app is a scam DO NOT DOWNLOAD OR USE THIS APP.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This App Excellent

*2026-08-29, version 2.124*

I’ve been using this App for a number of years and I absolutely loved it, 5*

### 5/5 — My go to

*2026-08-25, version 2.124*

Little did I know when I started using Photoleap that it would become my companion every week, and part of my most rigorous workflow. This might seem like a little app, but it is a powerhouse.

### 5/5 — Love

*2026-08-25, version 2.124*

It

### 5/5 — Best editor

*2026-08-11, version 2.124*

In my opinion, this is one of the best apps for photo editing. I’ve ever used the capabilities and the simple use makes it my go too for logo designs. I just wish the app would get upgraded and certain aspects upgrade. Like the fonts or the ability to upload your own a little bit better of a background remover. However, my complaints definitely do not make me take away any other stars. In my opinion this app should have 10 stars

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-10, version 2.124*

I love how you can use this app for personal or business! It’s very user friendly which I appreciate and so detailed. Really beautiful work

### 5/5 — It’s awesome.

*2026-08-09, version 2.124*

This app makes photo editing much easier.

### 5/5 — Reliably Excellent Images & Face lock

*2026-08-09, version 2.124*

Love Photoleap, been using it for years. For the prices, it’s one of the best. I wish they would either pay to integrate or whatever to improve the animation up to the level of the other sites, the animation is not so good. I use it everyday, however for seed images to feed the animation sites.

### 5/5 — From “Potato” photography to Professional masterpiece

*2026-08-02, version 2.123*

I downloaded this app expecting to maybe fix the lighting on my dog. Instead, I accidentally turned him into a majestic, glowing cosmic wizard floating through an 8k synthwave colorful galaxy. I then edited my face onto a red carpet portrait, removed my ex from every family vacation photos without leaving a trace (poof, magic!), and created a surreal masterpiece that made my group chat legitimately ask if I had enrolled in photography school.
It’s ridiculously easy to use. The AI tools do all the heavy lifting while you take 100% of the credit. I am now a digital artistic deity, and my camera roll has never been more unhinged or magnificent.
If you want to feel like a visual wizard without actually knowing what a "layer mask" is, download this immediately. Your photos (and your group chat) will thank you. 🚀✨

### 5/5 — Great AI Image Playground

*2026-07-31, version 2.123*

I’ve used Photoleap four years now. Although the output images aren’t necessarily production ready, I find it wonderful for exploring ideas because it is fast and there is no credit or token consumption… you can make as many images as you please. If I hit upon a promising idea, I send it over to one of the other more complex engines to refine it. The app is entertaining and can lead to good insights.

### 5/5 — Love this app! It is absolutely amazing!

*2026-07-17, version 2.123*

This is like having my own personal editor. I wonder if you have classes on how to make better use of.
