Enough issues to where I’m going back to a pc to control dmx. Specifically channel assignments don’t store correctly and cause lighting havoc in this app. It doesn’t work. Perhaps an ios13 issue but either way won’t work. **Developer response:** Oops 😨 Thank you for notifying us for the bug that is actually due to iOS13 ... We worked hard yesterday to fix it and the new version has just released. Feel free to try it and I hope you will enjoy the app for a better review 😊 If you have others comments, feedbacks you can contact us on our community website : community.photon-ios.com We will still deliver new versions of Photon to regularly improve the application. ### 1/5 — Bugs *2019-01-16* Poor instructions and glitchy interface ### 1/5 — Stay away from this app!!! *2017-09-15* This app seems to be easy to set up, but the useful sequencing features are hidden behind a paywall. Once you spend $25 you will find that there are many annoying quirks that make lights flicker off and on when the sequence repeats (even when your trying to hold a light steady). It also crashes frequently. I was regretting my purchase with minutes. I really wish I could get my money back. The company is also unresponsive to questions sent via the website. Absolutely terrible app. Very disappointing!!! **Developer response:** Hello, thank you for your review even if it breaks my hearth. We published a new release and the app should no longer crash. We are very sensitive to your suggestions and we will do our best to improve our app. We hired new people to create a good support website (it will be online in a short time). The first version was not really ready and we will work hard to make Photon the best, trust me ! Sorry for the convenience, I understand your disappointment but your review is important for us, thank you, we will give you a new regard on Photon :) Best regards Clément ### 1/5 — It might work - who knows? *2017-03-26* There is really no way to try this app without making an expensive inApp purchase. It looks like it has potential but it has a few bugs in fixture addressing and the number of functions for program channels is too limited. I had high hopes but I'm not going to drop $25 if I can't even test it on a single fixture. **Developer response:** Hello, You review is very important for us, by this way we will improve Photon continuously. Contact us by the support website for an evaluation version, I hope you will enjoy it :) Best regards, Clément ### 2/5 — Crashes and isn't easy to edit *2017-06-22* I wanted this app to work and paid the $29 for the sequencer and beat analyzer to get the extra features. However it's hard to setup fixtures, the most common fixtures are not in the library (just older discontinued ones), you don't have individual RGB channel control just a color wheel so you can't do amber + UV for example as a color and warm whites are out, the app crashes every 20 minutes, sequence duration is hard to edit, phantom sequences get inserted and can't be deleted, and the beat analyzer doesn't work for non 4/4 time signatures or anything slower than 110 BPM. Fades are also not very smooth at all and cross-fades are jumpy and quite ugly even if you adjust dimmer modes on your fixtures. I've tried contacting support but that was non-existent as well. Save your money and try something else. Can't recommend this and feel like I wasted $29. ### 2/5 — May work *2017-04-18* Like previous reviews say, it seems to have potential, but has a few bugs that make it crash and you can't access the interesting part of the app without the in-app $24 purchase. Best regards, Clément ### 4/5 — Easy to use, intuitive interface. *2018-08-18* Until recently I have been using the Luminair app, which cost $100 and the interface isn’t nearly as easy to use. With Photon, even the Free version has more than enough features to run the lighting for my live shows, and I was able to set up a show with custom lights in a only few minutes. I really don’t know why this app has the reviews that it does, Because it is simple, functional, intuitive, and affordable. The only reason I did not give a 5-star review is that there is no way to sync your data to another device. That would be useful for me because I do not have dedicated iPad for my venue we use more than one device. We have to program each instance of this app individually, which is an inconvenience. I hope that sync and/or share is the feature that will be at in the future. ### 4/5 — Promising if you can work out how to use it *2017-12-21, version 1.0.0* Connected seamlessly with the router/Enttec ODE setup I normally use with Luminair 3. Built in fixture list needs expanding, users could contribute using the fixture personality editor if there was a way to send profiles to the developer. Interface a bit gauche on an iPad Pro but probably a blessing under concert conditions, and easier to make fine adjustments. Music activation and timeline editing are parts of the in app purchase but something Luminair doesn’t offer. No way to incorporate White and/or Amber colour channels into the colour picker. What this app needs badly is an instruction manual. ### 5/5 — Nice! *2025-01-12* ArtNet device control and sequencing works great once you get used to it. I’m using it for filmmaking applications and creating different groups/zones is incredibly simple.
