PhotoPhile helps you to sort, find and manage your iPad's photo collection. Add star-ratings, labels and comments to your photos, and then use these later to find exactly the photos you're interested in. If you're a Lightroom user, you can publish your photos directly to your iPad from Lightroom complete with their Lightroom ratings, flags, keywords and comments and, once there, use all the normal sorting and filtering controls to make it easier to find the photo you want. You can also use your iPad to edit the metadata directly and sync this back to Lightroom. Pro photographers, get your clients to apply their own star-ratings to their photo-shoot. Not so pro? Sit somewhere comfy while you rate, flag and tag your own photos. PhotoPhile uses internal RAW photo decoding for most camera types and is extremely fast. One star off until it works for me ;) Curious to figure out a way for the app to recognize Favorite flags i might have added in the Photos app, since in the field that's a quick first pass tool. The developer is responsive which is great and places it head and shoulders above apps like PhotoSmith. ### 5/5 — Very nice *2015-08-18* I like it. It would also be nice to be able to see metadata from the camera on the iPad, and to know the filename of the image. ### 1/5 — Photophile lightroom plugin does not install. *2015-05-19* Do not waste your money on this app! The Lightroom plugin does not install from the iPad as instructed and when I sent an email for tech support I was told I do not have enough points! So, it does not sync with Lightroom and NO tech support! Does not even deserve 1 Star. ### 1/5 — Very questionable support *2015-04-17* I purchased this software, followed all the instructions and could not get it to connect to light room, without which the software has no use for me. After reading all the instructions again I checked for online documentation and FAQs and found very little. Finally I lodged a detailed support ticket explaining the problem and the steps I'd taken attempting to resolve it. I received an automated response immediately advising that I would be contacted in due course. 2 days later I received another email stating that as they hadn't heard back from me they would close my ticket in 48 hours if I did not respond. The email included a link which I followed to a page requesting my email address and password. I didn't have a password so followed the "forgot your password" link, received an email that let me to "reset my password". Once I logged on with my new password I was required to set up a profile for "new account". It was only after all of these steps that I was able to view my ticket. Once I finally got to the ticket I found a message telling me that I had insufficient credit to ask any questions so no response would be provided. I have chosen not to purchase the required credit and have left this review so you are aware of the experience that awaits you if you choose to purchase this software and you need help. ### 1/5 — Sounds promising but so disappointing *2015-03-14, version 1.0.4263* I originally had an ipad2 and the app wouldn't generate the thumbnails. I put this down to possibly being the fact it was an old iPad and not fast enough even though it's only meant to be a small file. Roll forward 3 months and I have upgraded to the latest and greatest iPad Air plus the apps had an update to fix the thumbnail issue.... Guess what? Yep still doesn't work. They apparently take pride in hiding any reference to it. When I found out that it was a paid add on, I decided that was enough. Never did find the plugin. Good luck with the miserable instructions. Uninstalling. ### 4/5 — pretty good really! *2014-06-19, version 1.0.3933* my experience is rather different. i agree that the plugins sometime need updating and that this is not intuitive, but once you have mastered how to do this i find this app to be a pretty cost effective way of keeping a copy of Lightroom collections on the ipad.
