### 4/5 — Ignore rest feature would make it a 5

*2024-07-10, version 1.2.1*

Great app which is terribly needed! One feature request would be to add an ignore rest button. If you’ve already found the best pick, you should not need to go through all the other candidates to reach the delete step.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2024-06-08, version 1.2.1*

It’s delightfully great for culling.

Automatically detects clusters of photos, and lets you select the best of the bunch.

But what if you want to keep more than one? Simple, just skip.

Unfortunately, skip doesn’t have a speedy button at the bottom. It’s hidden under the triple dots. And that’s the thing that would bump this to five stars: embrace a flag-skip-reject cull.

### 4/5 — Just needs ignore

*2024-05-05, version 1.2.1*

Thanks for the quick fixes! After ignore stack is added I’ll go up to 5.

### 5/5 — Super useful and perfect for Vision Pro

*2024-02-10, version 1.0.2*

The core idea is well executed and seems like more features are on the way. I love the hidden swiping gesture to swipe on the photos to keep and discard. Is like tinder for your photos 🙃

### 5/5 — Top!

*2024-02-09, version 1.0.1*

Perfekt 👍🏼

### 4/5 — Just what I’ve been looking for + Missing one feature

*2024-02-08, version 1.0.1*

This is perfect for me! I’m terrible at curating my photos after I’ve shot them, so this helps me clean up space.

One feature request though: I should be able to save multiple photos from a series, if I choose.

### 5/5 — Huge timesaver

*2024-02-08*

Excellent app. Something that my family and I have desperately needed to weed through all of our photos. Great design and intuitive. Would love the chance to not delete all rejected photos but save 3 or 4 but other than that, it’s great!

### 5/5 — Sehr hilfreich

*2024-02-08*

Jetzt schon gut, und laut Entwickler kommen zeitnah weitere Features 👍

### 5/5 — Nice tool - easy to use

*2024-02-08*

Nice tool to easily depict the best picture from a series. It really frees up memory in the phone. I like it.
Two suggestions for the future: Sometimes I want to keep more than just one picture from a set.
Second: Built in Zoom is cool, if you could do free zoom level, would be awesome.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-02-08*

An app like this was missing! Exactly what I needed. I like the simplicity of the process especially.

Two problems though:
1. Sometimes I would like to keep more than one favorite. Say one perfekt group foto an one where everyone is looking a bit silly.
2. Unfortunately the scrolling in the grid view is very very unpleasant (stutters) on my iPhone 15 Pro Max…

### 1/5 — Great idea, terrible implementation

*2024-09-08, version 1.2.1*

The best way to choose the best photo is to switch between two photos to immediately see the differences between them. And when you put two almost identical photos in front of each other, it turns into a game of finding a million subtle differences — this is the most stupid and inconvenient way. It's strange that he came to someone's mind. And the application does not analyze your library and does not offer to process similar photos — you will have to find and mark them to add manually. But it is not worth doing this, since the method of choice is stupid and inconvenient.

### 2/5 — Tons of crashes in v1.2

*2024-04-27*

Also it needs the ability to ignore a stack

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thanks for the honest feedback. We will add more features in future versions, and ways to ignore a series are on our list.

We also just released version 1.2.1, addressing the crashing issue that some user experienced. We are sorry that it was affecting you. Please contact us directly at hello@leitmotif.dev if you still see crashes. Otherwise, it would be great if you consider updating your review. Thanks!

Greetings

### 3/5 — Quick Look

*2024-10-18, version 1.3*

I just opened it for the first time. I don’t have much experience yet. But my first look is positive.

### 3/5 — Love the idea, but…

*2024-10-13, version 1.3*

In principle, this app brings back a functionality of the wonderful Aperture app that allowed you to compare similar photos and intelligently select which one to keep from a batch. Unfortunately, as it is currently implemented, it really does not match my needs for this process. The current workflow is just to move from one picture to the next and select when you find one you think you like more. But for this functionality to be useful, I really need to be able to go back-and-forth and compare any two arbitrary pictures to one another rather than just flick through everything once and be done. Also, the idea of keeping just one out of the set isn’t very helpful. I think if this used the film strip more interactively and allowed you to select pics and comparisons directly from it, then it might start to be really useful. Also, I think it very much needs to have a built-in assumption that you may choose to keep any number of pictures from the sequence, not just one

### 3/5 — Wish it was iPad compatible

*2024-09-08*

It’s a great app, but I really want to use it on my larger iPad screen rather than my tiny phone screen.

**Developer response:** Hi ChicagoLK,
Thanks for the feedback! We just released Photoscope 1.3 with (native) iPad support. Contact us at any time with feedback via hello@leitmotif.dev. If you like the new update, we'd also love to see an updated review and rating. :)

### 3/5 — Guter Ansatz, noch nicht ganz ausgereift

*2024-02-08*

### 4/5 — Bars on Candidate Photo

*2025-09-15*

Can you let me hide the bars on the candidate photo when I’m judging a candidate. Can’t get a holistic view of a candidate photo with the bars right on top of the candidate

### 4/5 — Guter Ansatz

*2025-04-09*

**Developer response:** Hallo Ullisan,
Florian vom Photoscope Team

### 4/5 — Do I really have to pick only one?

*2025-03-04, version 1.3.1*

I love this app. It’s great. I wish I could save more than just one. It’s kind of like an all or nothing.

### 4/5 — Hooray iPad compatibility!

*2024-10-04*

It’s a great app, and now I can use it on my iPad. Very much helps me comb through the many near-photos in the library. An endless process.

One thing I wish was an ability to remove items from an auto-group, or “ignore” a group. Sometimes the photos, although taken in rapid succession, are quite different and I don’t want to choose.

**Developer response:** Hi ChicagoLK,
Thanks for the feedback! We just released Photoscope 1.3 with (native) iPad support. Contact us at any time with feedback via hello@leitmotif.dev. If you like the new update, we'd also love to see an updated review and rating. :)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Really the best photo picker

*2026-06-03*

This is an incredibly useful tool for my birding photography! It allows me to sort through thousands of nearly identical burst photos with confidence. I recommend using it with an external keyboard on iPad, since it has extensive support for keyboard shortcuts (which you can find in the menu bar)

### 5/5 — Just what I needed

*2026-03-14*

Honestly, this app is just a godsend to me. For the last couple of years I’ve been shooting series of photos hoping that sometime later I would find the best shot and delete the others. But that time never comes apparently…

Now my paid iCloud is almost full, so I’ve tried to find an app tho help me and here it is! And it’s everything I could’ve asked for. It’s offline (I’ve tried it with airplane mode and works perfectly), no AI bullocks, looks good, does exactly what I want.

Apparently there are even no ads which is a shame because the person behind the app doesn’t get anything from it. Then it’s just an enormous “thank you” from me!

### 5/5 — Great tool, encourages clean photo library

*2025-10-15, version 1.5*

I just wish it had the ability to ignore a group of photos. Sometimes I want to keep a few very similar photos!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2025-06-23*

Just great! There are simply no analogues for "maniacs of order". The "ignore series" button is missing, otherwise it's great!

### 5/5 — Mein Lebensretter …

*2025-05-17*

Florian vom Photoscope Team

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-04-27*

Love the easy and quick use. Does its job really well!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app for photo culling

*2024-04-02, version 1.1*

I use a mirrorless camera and will sometimes take a *few* too many photos at the same time, often trying to capture just the right shot. I’ve looked all over for an app that directly integrates with my Photos Library and allows me to pick the best photo(s) from a bunch. This app does the job really well, and I am excited to see how the app gets even better with further development. Mac and iPad apps would be amazing; I hope they are on the road map!

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2024-03-27, version 1.1*

I have looked for a tool for comparing and removing duplicate photos for years. Nothing else compares at all.

### 5/5 — Photoscope Was Exactly What I Needed

*2024-03-11, version 1.1*

I have been taking thousands of photos for years. My friends and family have always complained that I never share them. Well, 75% of them are awful and I have had the intention that one day, I’d go through them, make albums and ‘clean’ out the duplicates, blurry and poorly lit images. I never had.

Photoscope is changing that!

I have started with a trip I took 10 years ago with my elderly parents. It’s ten years later, but this Mother’s Day, my mom is going to get to relive some precious memories.

Thank you, Photoscope!

### 5/5 — This should be part of the native photo app

*2024-03-11, version 1.1*

Apple should purchase this app. It’s awesome!
