It's nice to be able to browse my photos/folders though the views are lacking. The main complaint I have is uploading through the App downsizes RAW files, for example from 4040x6064 (32.6mb) to to 1536x2308 (1.3mb) ... not good! Uploading the same image/s through the browser interface retains all the meta data and sizing. This makes the app a lot less valuable to use as a photo business tool. The help files on PS for the mobile app says "Formally supported devices: iPhone 5 & 6, Nexus 4/5x/6/7, and Samsung 4/S4/S5. Compatible devices: iPad, iPad mini, and iPod." How OLD is that?? ### 2/5 — Unusable UI *2022-08-17, version 1.7.5* It’s great for viewing and occasionally downloading images but menus used to change setting ins files is unusable as it does not drop down far enough to be able to tap in the options (iPhone 13 pro max) ### 3/5 — Doesn’t work as it should *2022-02-14, version 1.7.4* I’ve use this app for years, and the last few months I’ve been unable to send permissions to clients because the screen cuts off as an email link at the very top on iPhone. Please fix this! ### 3/5 — Not bad in principle *2019-11-10, version 1.6.7* But there are a number of lingering issues that become more apparent as mobile tech evolves. Buttons don’t always work or are displayed correctly, you can’t download the original or available resolution photo to your mobile gallery (Photoshelter downloads a preset, lower-quality resolution), and lately the app has been timing out after 10 mins or so of use (iPhone XR). Would really like to see some much-needed updates as this could be a much more useful tool from both a file management and client usage perspective. Especially considering how much the Pro web subscription costs. ### 2/5 — No iPhone XS screen support *2019-02-21, version 1.6.7* Bizarre this is one of the only apps on my iPhone XS that doesn’t support full screen. I thought apple wouldn’t even allow apps to be updated further without screen support in all devices. Looks bizarre, big screen with small app. Also pretty far behind. Doesn’t get much support anyway from what I can tell. UI is the same as it has been for years without much attention to design enhancements and usability improvements. ### 3/5 — It’s ok. *2019-01-16, version 1.6.3* This app is ok. But it could be so much better. The desktop version is great though. Online support for the mobile version would be nice too. ### 2/5 — Not great *2018-11-21, version 1.6.3* Well, where do I start...this app doesn’t let you access certain permissions. If it does, it’s impossible to figure out. You can’t see what clients are downloading. It’s hard to scroll through galleries when it’s on full screen, it’s glitchy when you try in general to browse and just doesn’t scroll mid-gallery. I thought this would update after like 3-5 years... it hasn’t. I use it because it’s slightly convenient but like .....come on.... this is a pathetic app for a professional company. ### 4/5 — Useful but limited *2018-04-24, version 1.6.3* I use Photoshelter for my business and the app is really useful to have. There are some big limitations however which if rectified could turn this into a real must have app and point of difference for the company. The biggest one for me is the random sort order in galleries. It doesn’t follow the sort order determined on the web and is completely unchangeable. As a wedding shooter this means, if I need to find a photo in amongst a gallery of hundreds, I have to scroll through till I spot it, waiting for many many images to load. If you could sort by filename or capture time then at least you could scroll to the approximate area of the shoot and navigate accurately backwards or forwards to the correct place. Instead finding a single image is like searching for a needle in a haystack. ### 2/5 — Frustrating bugs in features and ux *2017-11-01, version 1.5.1* Things like the notifications not giving details on which images are being downloaded or once you hit the search icon you can’t get out of it, make me hate the app ### 3/5 — Lacks major features *2017-05-15, version 1.5.1* This could be the answer to so many problems, but it lacks so much. Notifications are never up to date and give you very little information - you can't even see which image has been downloaded. No real stats showing what has been viewed. ### 3/5 — Nice but could be better with simple upgrade *2016-07-10, version 1.0* This app hasn't been updated in more than a year. It's really nice but could use some upgrades that would be really simple. For instance, you can't save an image from your archive directly to your Camera Roll without a watermark. Just add an option! But lately it seems like PS is focusing on Libris and isn't interested in putting much effort into updating their mobile app and platforms for individual users, which is unfortunate because individuals are their bread and butter. ### 2/5 — Needs iPad Pro and iPhone 6 support *2016-02-10, version 1.0* Dunno how you can launch an app without support for the iPhone 6 and then no updates for months. The website isn't iPad friendly but the app could be with work. ### 2/5 — Disappointing *2015-12-15, version 1.0* This app is obviously just an MVP in terms of UI and functionality, and yet it hasn't been updated in nearly six months, a very troubling sign. Seems like abandonware, dead on arrival after we waited for so long. It's simply inexcusable to be heading into 2016 with an app that's not optimized for the 6/6+ screen resolutions when millions upon millions of those phones have shipped over the last 14 months. Shame on Photoshelter - which is supposed to be a photographer's platform after all. Resolution matters! We want out images and the UI to be as sharp as possible. This kind of half-assed development effort, along with other SEO problems on the platform, really makes me question whether to continue with my subscription. ### 4/5 — Great step *2015-10-23, version 1.0* Great to have access from my mobile. Would love to be able to move/add images to different galleries through here as well. ### 2/5 — Lacks iPhone 6+ support! *2015-07-04, version 1.0* Great concept, long overdue. Currently the app lacks support for the iPhone 6+ - can't imagine I'm the only photographer who opted for a larger screen. I wish the app also showed some of the details available on the website, such as viewer stats with ip address, popular downloads and others. Looking forward to future updates ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Couldn’t rate it low enough *2025-06-05, version 2.4* Absolute garbage. There is a staggering lack of customer support. There is zero phone support. Email Support never comes within the same week. I’ve waited two weeks to get a response about an issue I’ve had with the site. The site itself is clunky unintuitive, and difficult to use. It’s expensive overpriced really for what it is. I tried to work with them for over two years and it’s been the most awful experience I’ve had with any photographic software. They absolutely do not care about their customers. I’ve never ever experienced anything like it. I have recently found. Shootproof. They have phone support and they respond in real time and email. Check them out if you’re dissatisfied with this rotten garbage software and team. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2024-02-26, version 2.4* Not intuitive, clunky, missing so many features. Feels like a free app from the very first release of the very first App Store ever. Time to do better PhotoShelter! Unfortunately, there's a problem with logging in and a repeated "Invalid Credentials" error message. I’m sure it’s me but just thought I would mention it. This is a fantastic platform don’t let that comment dissuade you I will endeavor to update this. Such a handy tool for when your out in the field! For example, I was on a shot recently and the client mention it would be handy to have a certain shot needed but there was no way or getting at that location. I remembered I had a shot that would work, pulled out my phone, found it in my archive and all within 30 seconds the client had an email with a link to download the image in there in box for there return. Thank you Photoshelter!! ### 5/5 — The long awaited Photoshelter app *2015-06-18, version 1.0* I have been with Photoshelter for a few years now and have been really happy with the whole service. Using it on mobile was not possible though... Until now. Happy to see an app from them. App seems quite good with the basic functionality you would expect and a good layout. It allows me to conduct business sharing and selling work from wherever I am in the world in an instant. Previously I had to have an assistant handle requests in real time or wait until connected by computer.
