### 2/5 — Works fine when it works, but SLOW

*2015-08-08, version 8.0*

Extremely slow to update thumbnails. Sometimes, just wont do it. Only shows white squares. Sometimes wont show the photo... says there is a network problem. Hardly true, since nothing else on the network is slow.

When it works, displays crisp, clear photos to the iPad.

Could use Google Chromecast support. Need a way to cast the photos onto the TV.

Has not been updated since 10/2014. Over 10 months at this point. Way too long for a poorly working app with such potential.

### 2/5 — Don't work with Mountain Lion

*2012-08-07, version 4.2*

I used on Lion and it was good, but now on ML don't work the InageBank Server. The latest release was publis on July 10, 2011. Please, support osx 10.8!!

### 4/5 — Really quite good!

*2012-06-11, version 3.0*

Exactly what I was looking for- Air Video for photos. Love that the server side client is lightweight and allows me to keep my own folder based photo organization. Setting up access on 3G was easy with port forwarding in router.

Only two features I'm missing is AirPlay (for showing on apple tv) and search option. Search is a big deal since I have tens of thousands of photos to navigate.

Well done dev! Love this- should be at least 4 star rating if not higher.

### 4/5 — Getting better each version

*2012-03-17, version 2.2*

Pleasantly surprised with speed improvements in the latest version. Quick loading previews and images are most important to me, and this version delivers.

### 4/5 — Does the job

*2012-02-11, version 2.1*

Air Video for pictures although I think OrbLive could also do the trick.

As others have requested, stopping AutoLock during a slideshow is needed as well as infinite loading in random mode, not only 28 pictures.

We also need to be able to see info about the picture, name, date taken, size and folder hierarchy would be nice too (think an "(i)" button)

I sometimes get connection errors (when caching occurs ?).

One of the best features is remote download to your iOS device, but choosing the size would be a nice plus.

Keep up the good work!

### 3/5 — Good App, Slide Show Needs Some Improvement

*2011-12-22, version 2.1*

Double charged for this app as in-app upgrade did not work correctly. I would recommend going the route of purchasing the standalone full version only. Hoping for a refund still.

Otherwise, this app works well, but the slideshow feature needs some work..
- The only way to enter a slideshow is to click a specific image within a folder and then press the play button. The slideshow feature should be available before having to click on an image, it should support a location with subfolders and be able to shuffle randomly.
- If you want to, you should be able to personalise the slideshow by ticking images which you would like displayed
- A fade transition would be a nice option
- There should be an option to hide the play button and location bar at the top and have it display "on tap" only.

### 4/5 — It does what it says

*2011-08-16, version 1.5.1*

The program works as it says, I was able to access my pictures on my PC from my ipad2 streaming without actually copying the images to the iPad, it is a great idea because if you have many pictures as I do there is no way you can add all of them to the iPad. I took one star off because of the delay time to load the photos, there is small delay, I think because of the network. but over all I am satisfy with the app.

### 3/5 — Nice, but limited

*2011-04-24, version 1.4*

The app seems to work well, but I'd love to see support for camera raw files (which can be displayed on the iPad with the photos app), and a way to list files which are present but which can't be displayed.

### 4/5 — Works well on NAS

*2011-03-26, version 1.4*

Using an Ipad2 and Windows 7 with a Netgear NAS. Works well, takes about 2 to 3 seconds to load a high res picture. This app is just what I was looking for and inexpensive too!

### 4/5 — good app

*2011-02-07, version 1.3.2*

just what i was looking for...works like "air video" only this is for photos.thanks for making it cheap too.however please fix this problem: when viewing photos located in a folder that contains other folders,i cannot swipe to the next photo.also, the imagebank server should be able to run at startup hidden in the system tray just like air video server.thanks!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pc app just crashes

*2021-10-03, version 2021.1*

Runs and then immediately crashes when mousing over the icon.

### 1/5 — Desperately needs to support Apple TV

*2018-11-28, version 10.4*

This application needs to support the Apple TV natively. There is no reason why it shouldn’t.

### 1/5 — Not ready for the iPad Pro

*2016-01-05, version 8.0*

The UI is scaled up and it frankly looks really bad on an iPad Pro. The Dev should’ve updated it by now.

### 1/5 — Breaks and doesn’t recover

*2014-11-10, version 8.0*

On my largeish photo library, if it streams more than ~ 5,000 photos and then you close the app, it will never open again. It just spends forever loading and then crashes. This happens on an iPad 2 and 3 - the only way to fix it is to reinstall. Contacted the developer a week ago and never heard back. Super disappointing, because it is the only shuffling photostreaming app I’ve found otherwise.

### 1/5 — No Support

*2014-06-29, version 7.0.1*

No updates since Nov 2013. Since then the app does not work. Firewalls turned off, anti virus turned off and the search for the computer times out. Used to be a really simple app that works. Might have been abandoned since...too bad.

### 1/5 — PhotoStreamr Server 2.8.2 crashes on Mavericks

*2013-11-05, version 6.0.3*

The current version of PhotoStreamr Server 2.8.2 which runs on your desktop to serve files to the iOS Photostreamr app causes computers running OS X Mavericks to crash to a gray error screen whenever PhotoStreamr Server 2.8.2 is launched.

### 1/5 — Crap

*2010-12-28, version 1.3.1*

Do not waste your money. Does not work.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2010-11-17, version 1.2*

does not connect all the time with wi-fi

### 2/5 — Pixelated thumbnails

*2018-01-30, version 10.3*

While old version of the app (from 2014) was pretty good the new one (from 2018) produces extremely pixelated thumbnails. So pixelated that it looks like 8 bit graphics. So pity. I really wish the new version get at least as good as the old one was.

### 2/5 — No auto start

*2016-07-06, version 8.0*

Does not start automatically with Windows 7.
Very slow and sluggish

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best app for simple photo streaming

*2018-01-31, version 10.3*

I've been using this app for years, and was so glad to see it updated for iOS 11 compatibility. It's easy to configure and use, features animated GIF support (something shockingly ignored by most competing apps) and has good support from the devs. I can't recommend it enough!

### 5/5 — Works great, hoping for an update!

*2017-04-15, version 8.0*

I've used this software along with a mac mini, the server software and my NAS to stream and view photos on all our iOS devices. After the last update though it seems this software will no linger be allowed to run on future versions of iOS without an update...soooo, will there be an update?

### 5/5 — The Best!

*2014-10-10, version 8.0*

I have tried all apps that claim to do what this one does and none come close! Also the developer was kind enough to add ANIMATED GIF support! On that note I absolutely must commend the developer. He is extremely friendly and maintains this app in a way I've not seen any other developer. If Apple releases an update or new functionality [64-Bit] he will have an update out within days! I cannot thank you enough dev!

Thank you for update!

### 5/5 — Really nice!

*2014-01-15, version 7.0.1*

Does exactly what it says - let's me stream my photos from home to any ios device - wifi or LTE.

### 5/5 — Perfect!!!

*2013-11-21, version 7.0.1*

This app has come a long way!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-10-12, version 5.0.1*

Does what it says and developer works on issues and updates product. A good buy for people with large image library's.

### 5/5 — No support

*2012-01-04, version 2.1*

Partially functional. UPnP does not appear to be working and unfortunately the dev isn't actively participating in the support forum. Image browsing is a bit slow, even over my personal network. It appears it needs to do a bit more caching and/or indexing. Hopefully he will get this working better soon.

### 5/5 — The update is a major major improvement

*2011-12-01, version 2.0.1*

I purchased this app a couple of month ago and I was happy that I could free my phone of thousands pictures that take up space on my iPhone. The program had bugs and wasn't loading all the images in thumbnail mode. But when I update it to the latest version I was more then amaze at all the things they fixed. And the layout of the program is faster with a sleeker better look that is easy on the eyes. This image program also reads every picture format known today. If you ask me, this program is most definitely worth the buy, five stars.

### 5/5 — Excellent!!

*2010-09-29, version 0*

Does exactly as advertised. Install the server app map a folder and have full access when on wifi.

I would love to see iPad support and random/slide show!

### 4/5 — Ordering is not working correctly.

*2012-12-11, version 5.1*

I enjoy this App, but ordering of photo is wrong. When sorted by name, the sort only checks the first few letter of a file name, if your ordinal file number is on the end of a file it won't work correctly: for example, filename001.jpg will not be sorted correctly but 001filename.jpg will be.
