### 2/5 — Could be so much better

*2026-08-20, version 8.24.1*

This app is really clunky. First it’s not at all clear that it is secure. It feels like the synchronization with the network leaves an unprotected entry point for hackers for each device. I feel like if it were secure, they’d make that clear. Second, the setup should allow you to set your parameters for all your leak detection devices at once-get all (in my case, 5) units in the app and named, then ask what parameters I want (humidity and temperature alarms), then apply them to all my units. Likewise, I shouldn’t have to add an address for each unit. It also appears that using a separate network connection seems to add a new home (if I try to use the existing address it says that address was already used) and it doesn’t ask if I want to use that existing address. Once you add a second address, there’s no way to delete it short of deleting the app (that I could find). Finally, if you set a parameter too low, or get a disconnected from the network notification, troubleshooting does nothing but bring you in circles.

### 3/5 — Device

*2026-07-20, version 8.23.0*

Need to be able to put on more than 1 persons device. Was away and my husband called and had rude customer services since change over. No water for one 2 hours. Live on horse farm need to fill water. Explained to repressive and was giving rude answers. “You have leak! “ my husband and daughter need capability to handle device as well.

### 2/5 — Great System. App Annoying

*2026-04-03, version 8.20.1*

I don’t get why I need to sign in every time I open the app. Trust me someone not trying to hack my water usage.

### 2/5 — Consistently buggy interface, useful in general, but irritating

*2026-03-15, version 8.19.3*

Consistently buggy interface, where buttons don’t respond, cycling through alerts you can’t exit or dismiss, and wonky UI. Constantly asking you the same question over and over and over again like plumber contact details. Just feels like they aren’t doing much consumer polling on improvements. Overall, it’s still worth installing for the emergency controls it offers, but could be a lot better and hasn’t improved in years.

### 2/5 — Couldn’t connect to WiFi

*2026-03-08, version 8.19.3*

Nationwide Insurance sent these and they didn’t work and never connected to WiFi

### 3/5 — Connecting sensors

*2026-02-26, version 8.19.3*

It is so difficult to keep my sensors connected. I had to disable my VPN which was very difficult, but I finally got it turned off. The Most difficult thing was constantly resetting the WiFi on my phone to the slower connection speed. My phone keeps switching to the faster 5GHz speed especially when returning home and reconnecting. Why can’t your sensors update to the faster speed?

### 4/5 — Phyn works but

*2026-01-25, version 8.19.2*

I live Phyn as it really protects our home from leaks.
I just wish that during the learning phase it could identify each toilet or device. It knows what the toilet is as it advises how many times each one was flushed and how many gallons etc per flush.
But it doesn't allow us to name the location which is a big selling point

### 2/5 — No connection

*2025-10-20, version 8.18.9*

Had perfect connection until last week. Went offline Tried to re connect. Nothing worked. Called help desk. Didn’t work.

### 1/5 — Worst app I’ve ever encountered

*2025-10-03, version 8.18.8*

This app freezes and requires a device re boot every time I use it. It is an absolute piece of garbage, all I need to do is reconnect my Phyn water device to a new router. I am now in the 3rd hour of constant struggle.

### 1/5 — Useless other than setup

*2025-09-18, version 8.18.8*

If you want a strong password, forget ever opening the app. It doesn't let you paste in your login info, which is poor design from a security standpoint. It forces users to use short and memorable (I.e. weak) passwords. I use strong passwords and I refuse to switch back and forth with my password database app to memorize a few characters at a time to be able to login.

I just bought a Moen sump pump monitor and I wanted to compare the humidity readings, but forget it. I'm not going through all that, or to get a pen and paper just to open the app. That's ridiculous.

### 3/5 — Consistently buggy interface, useful in general

*2025-08-11, version 8.18.7*

Consistently buggy interface, where buttons don’t respond, cycling through alerts you can’t exit or dismiss, and wonky UI. Overall, it’s still worth installing for the controls it offers, but could be a lot better.

### 3/5 — Setup

*2025-06-29, version 8.18.4*

Setup was difficult and a little laggy

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rubbish app

*2026-08-05, version 8.23.0*

This app is terrible, and their “smart” devices are even worse. Constant network issues. Says the device is offline, then goes back online randomly. Changed my wifi network, and do you think it’s easy to pair the device to my new network? Of course not. I follow the instructions in the app, and it says “Pairing Error - No device found”. Don’t waste your money. I have no idea if the device is working or not, as it says it’s offline.

### 1/5 — Crashes when setting up

*2026-07-25, version 8.23.0*

This app is total garbage. It crashes all the time when trying to set up new devices.

### 1/5 — Terrible user interface

*2026-04-16, version 8.21.0*

Cannot use the app since it does not rotate. I use my iPad with a Magic Keyboard and am always in Landscape mode - app is always sideways for me

### 1/5 — Constant logging out

*2026-04-01, version 8.20.1*

Since the latest update this app won’t stay signed it which defeats the purpose of having an app to track leaks. Every time I get out of the app I have to resign in. It’s ridiculous. How am I meant to get a notification for a leak when it doesn’t even work?

### 1/5 — Terrible Product

*2026-03-09, version 8.19.3*

This product does not work.

### 1/5 — Ripping out and replacing with Moen Flo

*2026-02-09, version 8.19.2*

Phyn constantly shuts off our water because of our Whole Home Humidifiers. I have categorized the unknown events but it keeps happening as the system doesn’t run to a set schedule. The app also does not stay logged in and there’s no option for Face ID. The usability of the app is poor and the Phyn has no easy way to identify its open/closed status visually like the Moen Flo. I have the first generation Phyn and I can’t move it to a new SSID. There’s no HomeKit, Matter or even HomeBridge integration.

### 1/5 — Terrible product and lack of support

*2025-12-26, version 8.19.0*

Super fun when it's a holiday and your routine is different and it emails you it is shutting off and then the app crashes so you can't cancel the shutoff and they do not have 24/7 support or a desktop version. Not worth the risk having this device wreck your household when the dishwasher and washing machine are both mid cycle

### 1/5 — Zero Support

*2025-11-17, version 8.18.9*

I’m in Tokyo and I get a call at 3 AM from my wife screaming at me that the water has been shut off. The app says the unit has been disconnected and cannot reconnect. So the default here is to just shut the water off for the house. Brilliant. Not being in any position to solve this halfway across the world — paid a plumber on a Sunday time and a half to manually open the shutoff valve. Monday (today) took time out of my work travel to call the “exigent issue” customer service hotline. After being told several times to remain on hold, and that “my call will be ordered in the order which was received” I am forced to leave a voicemail after just 5 and a half minutes. Tried to hold twice, same issue. Awful CS practice and I worry the company will not exist soon enough.

### 1/5 — App is horrible

*2025-10-22, version 8.18.9*

This app is so glitchy and horrible. It’s taken me 40 minutes to connect just two of my 5 sensors. Whenever everything goes well they blame my internet. Why were the other two able to set up then and why is my internet speed more than adequate. How can I use these when I can’t even get them set up

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-10-15, version 8.18.9*

Phyn is not compatible with modern mesh Wi-Fi systems such as eero.

You can’t turn on the phyn until it is installed by a plumber once it is installed by a plumber you will find out that it’s not compatible with modern systems such as eero. I’ve spent probably combined six hours on the line with eero and Phyn, and nobody can fix the problem. All the rest of my devices connect just great. In my 20 years as a techie, this is the first device. I think I’ve ever gotten that simply cannot connect to Wi-Fi. When I talked to my friend about it and he said his does connect, but it sends so many ridiculous notifications that he wish it didn’t. I stopped trying.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — doesn’t work well and not user-friendly

*2026-06-25, version 8.23.0*

Sensors don’t do what the app says they are supposed to do i.e. pairing them does not work as it says it is supposed to work. If they go off-line, it is virtually impossible to re-pair them. App crashes all the time.

### 5/5 — Peace of Mind

*2026-04-12, version 8.20.1*

I can leave my house knowing there won’t be any bad surprises where leaks are concerned.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2025-09-01, version 8.18.8*

The best insurance ever for leaks! I love it.

### 5/5 — Very intuitive system

*2025-07-10, version 8.18.5*

My Plumber recommended Phyn shutoff system second generation. I was wondering how it’s gonna work with my sick zone irrigation sprinkler system. So far, system is very intuitive and still learning.
You will be surprised to see lots of good stats how you are using the water in the house .

### 5/5 — Phyn water test

*2025-06-11, version 8.18.4*

Excellent

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-06-05, version 8.18.4*

This system is working fine and does everything as advertised. I get much needed comfort when I’m away and able to monitor things. This technology is a must have in my opinion

### 5/5 — Phyn

*2025-05-31, version 8.18.4*

Clever

### 5/5 — Phyn, a homeowner’s best friend

*2025-04-29, version 8.18.4*

We had our Phyn installed about 5 years ago and it has been worth every penny we paid for it. It has detected several leaks in our home. When we were on vacation once and unable to get internet access, Phyn sent us a message to let us know about the leak. When we did not respond in a timely .manner Phyn automatically shut off our water thus preventing any costly water damage. In a previous home we owned we had no device like Phyn to monitor our water system. A connecting tubing for our refrigerator’s ice maker sprung a leak and since we were gone for 2 weeks on vacation, the entire first floor of our home had about 2 to 3 inches of standing water. The repairs cost $50,000 and we could not live in our home while the repairs were being done.

### 5/5 — Happy Phyn Owner

*2025-04-29, version 8.18.4*

Phyn works great. Easy set up and very informative. Someday it’s going to save a real water mess and in the mean time saving me money on insurance.

### 5/5 — I wish I would have known about this device sooner!

*2025-02-13, version 8.18.1*

What a great device! We’ve told friends and neighbors about this and they’ve purchased one as well! No home should be without it. In our case, our insurance company paid for the device and installation by a plumber.
