But the app is missing two very important features: 1) There’s no search option. I can’t search for keywords of topics that I’m interested in, so I’m just at the whim of what the app presents. This option is available on the browser version, why not the app? 2) You can’t sync your ScienceX account to the app. So any saved articles don’t transfer over to the app. If these two issues were fixed, I’d use this app much more! ### 3/5 — App crashes to view saved articles *2024-11-25* I love this site and was excited to get the app. I got the app about a year ago or so and noticed immediately the app would crash whenever I tried to view saved articles. The fact this simple bug still hasn’t been fixed is beyond me. Fix this simple bug and this app would get 5 stars. I don’t understand how this hasn’t been resolved. Edit: this review was written almost a year ago and unfortunately it seems the app/site developers could care less about resolving an extremely inconvenient and frustrating bug. I recommend reading articles from this site as you get the best source of immediate scientific news and research updates but anybody that can reach out to the direct developers, please do and let them know about this unfortunate feature. Great articles, concise and conversational writing. Also LOVE the fact that full article content is actually surfaced within the main interface, rather than constantly linking out to external sites like some other services. But this app feels like someone made it as a side project. No ability to toggle between light and dark mode outside of your device OS, illegible dark blue links in dark mode, very few features beyond the ability to sign up for subscription, and - despite lots of obvious bugs - no updates for 2 years??? So I’m guessing this project has been abandoned? Too bad, because I feel like they have great potential. But I’m not paying a subscription fee for something that has such infrequent developer attention. ### 1/5 — Waste of an app *2021-12-27, version 3.1.7* This is trash. When you go to the website they promote the phys.org app but they want you to pay a subscription to be able to use gestures that are freely available on their website. Why on Earth would I pay you to access content via the app when you already provide it for free on your website? The end. No articles. No fix. You'll have to dig for them though. The junk science the app routinely sends notifications about is climate change misinformation. Turn off notifications and ignore what they push and the app could be a solid two stars. Trying to go back and see your favorites crashes the app and exits it immediately. Aside from that there are some nice configuration options to tailor your news feed.
