### 3/5 — Needs a lot of improvement

*2024-05-27*

The app is fine and all I like how it does not force you into needing to buy everything to play. I just am confused on how do you know which note to play when it gives you a note to read without fingering how would you know to play E or D? Coming from a 10 year old the app is ok but sometimes does not hear the key that I’m playing they need to be more specific with the instructions too

### 4/5 — It’s good but needs work

*2024-05-27*

It’s sooooooo annoying when you get a key right but it your wrong . then you have to put it on max volume or sometimes still doesn’t get it, correct? And it’s also annoying right now you have to watch the videos when you get the game. I mean I like having the game but I gotta say give this a 4 star and under . Try another game that actually works better reviews and stars ‘

### 2/5 — Terrible

*2024-02-28*

I got this app today and deleted it today, here’s why:

1. Very little help - your app hardly works to help the player learn piano, then we get notes wrong and you reset us along with not giving as positive feedback.

2. You expect us to play fast - like I said no help and yet here you are marking us wrong bc we are playing too slow? We play as fast as we can with no help.

3. Terrible when detecting notes - I was playing all of the notes right and your game marked me wrong. I even brought in a professional piano player to test it and the same thing happened.

Very frustrating and disappointing game. I would not recommend playing it. What I would recommend is Piano Academy. It makes you pay a little bit if you want more time training but unlike this game it actually helps you learn.

Thank you for reading my comment.

### 3/5 — There could be some improvements

*2024-01-03*

I love this app but I wish it could be free or at least more could be free.I get that the owner/developer needs to make money but if there was more free courses then maybe more people would buy premium. I also love how you get tons of songs to play for free.

### 2/5 — Bugs

*2023-12-01*

I’ve been playing since October on my iPad, and electric piano, and it has a lot of bugs in songs, and practice. I keep a journal with these problems etc. Sometimes, you can’t see the next note, other times don’t pick up chords very well. Some songs, either practice or full songs, have errors before the notes reach the play bar. You’ll need someone to test your songs etc before releasing to the song library, and lessons.

### 2/5 — Same App, But No Longer Free

*2023-02-22, version 1.8.4*

I used this app in August 2022, back when the entire app was free. For a free app, it was a powerful learning tool. It would have the occasional mix up with reading my notes, but it was for the most part okay.

I was able to complete the 10 courses it had as a beginner who never touched a piano in my life. The courses unfortunately had a HUGE difficulty curve towards the end and they force you to play at tempo with both hands too soon.

As a free app, I highly recommend it. I was very sad to learn by loading this app in 2023 that it is now a paid app for the exact same content I played through when it was free. No additional content for a absurd price. If it were a flat $1-$3 this app would be a good price, but unfortunately they have decided to go to a greedy subscription model. Keep in mind that it only took me a week and a half to through this app. I got a piano tutor afterwards and never looked back.

In closing, they are asking too much for what this app offers.

**Developer response:** Having you as an early adopter means a lot to us. We're always working to add new songs and lessons to the app, but this also comes with app development costs. You also can get in touch with us and we'd be happy to find a solution that works for you as we don't want the price to be what stops you from playing the piano.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2022-11-09, version 1.5.1*

Last week this app was great. Trying to secretly learn piano to surprise my husband I was excited and grateful to find this free program so he wouldn’t wonder about new charges. The app lagged a little with sound recognition but I made myself adjust because it was a great FREE app.

I had a lot going on the last week and got a few days behind but saw there was an app update in the meantime. I sit down to practice today, open the app, and now the lesson I was on is requiring that I upgrade to premium to continue.

I’m heartbroken and feel discouraged from continuing. The payment options are the same as many of the other apps but at least keeping it low cost would’ve kept you ahead of the others. Now you’re just a money grab like all the others.

*Just checked other apps and it’s actually MORE expensive than they are.

**Developer response:** Having you as an early adopter means a lot to us. We're always working to add new songs and lessons to the app, but this also comes with app development costs. You can always get our free trial and see what the app has to offer. You also can get in touch with us and we'd be happy to find a solution that works for you as we don't want the price to be what stops you from playing the piano.

### 2/5 — Won’t recognize notes

*2022-10-24, version 1.4.0*

I used this app for 15 minutes til I quit because it was so frustrating having it say that I’m playing the wrong note or not playing a note at all when I know I’m playing the right note. I tried other apps and they are way easier than this, I had to click the note maybe five times for it to register half the time

**Developer response:** Hi f hi mcc BFF fhb I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve been having with note detection. My team and I are doing everything we can to resolve this as fast as possible. Meanwhile, here are some actions you can take that may resolve the issue: 1. Turn down the volume on the backing track while turning up the volume on the piano. 2. Use wired headphones. 3. Use a MIDI cable to connect the piano to your mobile device. Details can be found here. https://bit.ly/3yNAKmZ. Best, Ryan from Pianify

### 2/5 — Horrible

*2022-10-15, version 1.3.9*

I downloaded this because I wanted a fun way to play the piano. I started playing and it wouldn’t pick up on any notes so I had to play it extremely loud and even then it wouldn’t work. I also don’t like the fact that there is timing. You can be 0.1 seconds off and it says you missed the note. The app also looks extremely unprofessional and looks like they took 5 minutes to do it. Way too many videos talking about music and the preview for the app page looks completely different from the app so that’s clickbait. I’ll keep this app hopefully they will fix it because this was the only app that doesn’t force you to purchess things.

### 2/5 — I’m not so sure…

*2022-10-14, version 1.3.9*

I wanted to learn piano so I got this app but after getting starting and playing for a while I was playing the right notes and it kept saying I was wrong it’s not a very well made app and it could use a lot of work, I would not recommend this app

### 4/5 — Irate it 4 star because...

*2022-10-11, version 1.3.9*

It looks great so that’s why I rate it 4

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Only beginners?!

*2024-04-01*

I got this app with me having 4 years of experience, there was nothing hard to do! Only lessongs for proactively little kids! Very annoying.
Also: all the sheet music is for premium and also the only good songs too

### 1/5 — Don’t download

*2023-12-22*

I raged so much at this app because I kept playing the right notes but it was telling me I wasn’t like every time I would do a lesson but when I did the ode to joy lesson practice it said almost every note I played was wrong and once it finally started to work it said too many mistakes and made me start over and then it kept telling me that the notes I played were wrong even though they were right it happened so many times I stopped using good posture and just used one finger to press the CORRECT. NOTE. and it still said was wrong. DONT DOWNLOAD!!

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2023-10-08*

If you need free piano lessons, this app is perfect for you. This app can be confusing. The lessons need to be more specific. This app can be very frustrating. I tried playing dance monkey, and it was not showing me the correct finger numbers. Also the song category is very slim, and the songs are short, the songs also only involve one hand. If you want to learn short and easy songs, this app is for you. I recommend you should read the feedback on this app before using it. For me, I will not be spending any money on this app, and will be deleting it.

### 1/5 — piano

*2023-05-28*

i dont think it worked for me my settings is fine but its not working i pressed a key and it has no sound and it gives a horrible tip that doesn't help

### 1/5 — Do you have to pay to play😡😡😡😡

*2023-02-24, version 1.8.4*

This is the worst you have to pay $119 every year but three day trial This should not be allowed I’m getting mad and I really want to learn to play piano😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

### 1/5 — Read this review before purchase!!!!!

*2023-02-12, version 1.8.2*

This app can be extremely frustrating. I’m in the seven day free trail and I don’t think I will be purchasing this app. You can be pressing the correct key during practices but the this app fails to pick up a lot of them. It’s frustrating when you are hitting the correct keys and it’s not picking up enough to unlock the next lesson. It will keep restarting the practice over and over again. I have held my iphone with cover off half inch from the key and it still didn’t pick it up. The lesson I had before this picked up much better but I’m at lesson right now I can’t complete. All because the app is not picking up the keys. The app is way too expensive to have issues like this so I would definitely look at other apps. I’ve tried a lot of the piano apps and this is one of the worst for picking up keys when playing.

**Developer response:** We're sorry for the frustration. Here's how you can improve the app's piano recognition: 1. Turn down the backing track while turning up the piano volume. 2. Use wired headphones 3. Connect your piano to your phone using a MIDI cable. Check out more tips here and let us know if they work! http://bit.ly/PianifyHelps

### 1/5 — PREMIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡

*2023-01-24*

TAKE AWAY PREMIUM PLZ!

### 1/5 — Not the best

*2023-01-10, version 1.8.1*

So my piano is really loud except when I play the correct note I have to press it multiple times for it to work..I recommend other piano apps because this one is not the best …

### 1/5 — No

*2022-12-24, version 1.8.0*

“Learn your favorite song with no subscription needed” -_- guess they had a change of plans

### 1/5 — Very annoying

*2022-11-10, version 1.5.1*

When you first learn how to start piano you have to go into premium and actually when you’re on the app it says free and it’s not

### 5/5 — Bast app!!!

*2024-03-08*

I’m 8 and it’s like almost the best app ever(piano app) but it’s crazy how like fun and like helpful for piano it just like I can already play all of my favorite songs and I’ve only played for 20 minutes and I can already play like the best songs in the world 🌎.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2024-03-07*

I love this app. It’s almost better then a real life teacher because you can go at your own pace and redo the lessons. It’s also not one of those apps where you have to pay to enjoy. There are only a few premium songs. And the non premium are still great if not better.

*2023-02-19, version 1.8.2*

So, I am an at home learner for piano and when I started playing the piano I used a whole bunch of other apps like this one. But they were not helpful at all. But this one is different! This app is free to use and helps a lot! I know a lot of songs because of this app! I really enjoy this app! It is very addictive! Best app to use to learn the piano!!! Thank you for making this app!

### 5/5 — Nope lots of problems

*2022-10-10*

Ok, so first when u r on the exercises it says that when it hits the note it will turn green, right?! Well, it does not! When I do it, it turns red. Idk why, but I think that it should actually hit the note and turn green if u know what I mean. It does teach u piano, but it’s teaching u a little to fast. Maybe SLOW DOWN A BIT, SO PEOPLE CAN FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😡also when I played the last course on happy birthday it DOES NOT HEAR MEEE!!!!!! 😡 I’m glad it teaches u piano and u don’t have to PAY like SimplyPiano forces u to literally PAY to play 1 or 2 songs!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UH 🙄 Ok that’s all I have to say, but PLZZZ make those changes and send me a notification if u did, because I will g9 back to this app when it makes some of these changes plz. So thank u for listening and I’ll go now. BYE 👋 😡😐☹️😊👌👎
Regards,
Ur angry(but satisfied) friend, Vernisia

### 5/5 — Love it
