### 4/5 — More Documentation - or Any - Would Be Useful

*2024-03-24*

It’s very good. Some documentation would be helpful. How to play is obvious. How play is scored, specifically how to earn the next star in a level, not so much.

Patterns are limited. Additional levels with more accidentals and more key signatures would have been useful and extended play. Doesn’t seem like it would have taken much more effort.

Ability to select levels by key signature would be useful, e.g., if I wanted to focus on Db Major.

### 2/5 — ?

*2021-02-03, version 1.8*

No MIDI connection!!

### 4/5 — Piano after 20 years

*2019-02-03*

I’m returning to piano after a long hiatus. I was an intermediate level player, but after 20 years I’ve forgotten many ledger notes. This is a great way to resurrect and reinforce note identification!

### 4/5 — 괜찮아요

*2018-02-17*

악보 읽는 연습하기 제일 무난하고 괜찮아요
딱 필요한 것만 있어요
번들 살 필요없이 이거 하나 사면 됩니다

### 2/5 — Not Enjoyable, but educational.

*2017-10-20*

It was very hard to read. I prefer the blue-colored app basically because it doesn’t stress me out. I do not like it. But, I learnt from this app too.

### 5/5 — Helps correct old mistakes

*2017-01-10, version 1.7*

As a kid I was taught piano and I memorized middle c very well, but as I went on, my instructors never emphasized learning the higher ranges past that. As years went by I learned to play by ear and also how to watch people play and copy movements. As I am 20 years old i cannot sight read, this app has helped my recognition significantly, just by repeating the first level! Wonder app, worth the money!

### 2/5 — I just don't like it.

*2016-08-02, version 1.7*

There appears to be zero flexibility, you have to go through it in the path that they've laid out. It's really tedious. Some people clearly like it, but it's just not for me. I prefer something more creative and less rote-driven.

### 2/5 — Need more notes

*2016-06-07, version 1.7*

Does not show notes with them once they are picked. I would like to see notes with them for a beginner.

### 2/5 — Bit disappointed

*2016-05-26*

Unless I'm missing something, and just haven't found where to do this yet, this app doesn't provide many options, eg I want to be able to be able practise the Bass clef by itself.

And it should definitely cover a wider range of notes. Naming the notes when they're played would be good too, for reinforcement of the notes. All in all, a bit of a let down. I can't recommend this to anyone but an absolute beginner who's never tried to read music before.

### 5/5 — A great tool!

*2016-02-07, version 1.7*

This app has been a great tool for moving forward in learning to read music. It is easy to use and thorough. Well, it's easy to use, once you get past the darn cats. It does need a small help panel, or some kind of brief explanation. However, the email response from the programmer was extremely fast and clear. Thanks very much.

### 5/5 — Very happy with this app.

*2015-12-03*

This is an awesome app if you already know most notes but want to become faster and better. I have always known basic theory but wanted to improve my knowledge of notes and improve my sight reading. User-friendly layout and even has a timer so you can become faster at reading notes and beat previous scores. I use this on the go as one of my daily exercises. 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Works Great and really helps

*2015-12-02, version 1.7*

These flash cards are a great way to work on sight reading music. I am bad on the bass clef and this has helped me sight read much better. These great exercises can be incorporated into a practice routine for a few minutes each day. You do need to keep an eye out for the shaded middle C as the keyboard needs to move when the exercises change from treble to bass clef.

### 5/5 — NOICE M8 BUT

*2015-11-04, version 1.7*

Great app! Can't stop playing it!! My piano teacher lets me use it so I use it when I'm practicing. I highly recommend but a little overpriced. 99 cents would be better 🤘✊🏽😁🐇😬👎🏽🐇🤑🤓✊🏽🤘✊🏽🤘✊🏽🐇✊🏽

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad

*2018-12-28*

It only tells you the notes and doesn’t show you how to play them. Don’t waste your money.

### 1/5 — No “how to” instruction and this is advanced music reading

*2018-12-06*

This is the sister app to the blue outlined one. The blue is beginner and this red one is advanced. They should really be labeled as such. The blue one is excellent, includes instructions and appropriate feedback. This red one has lots of levels that I can assume are helpful for advanced music reading - but there is no instruction anywhere in the app.

### 1/5 — Nope!

*2017-10-20*

Thought this app was going to help me learn to read music! No instructions at all! And you have to hit random keys and that makes a sound. Does nothing to help you figure out what the notes mean.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2017-07-07, version 1.7*

Horrible app not working to potential

### 1/5 — Not what I thought

*2016-04-22, version 1.7*

This might be great for others who already read music but not for those who don't! I thought it would teach me to read music... Nope. There aren't any instructions on how to use the app either- just pictures and that's it. Wish I hadn't bought it!

### 1/5 — Mr

*2015-12-02, version 1.7*

Rubbish. I would have given it no stars if that was an option...waste of money.

### 1/5 — Bogus app

*2015-07-16, version 1.7*

No directions, no idea how to use app. I want a refund.

### 1/5 — Review

*2015-01-04, version 1.7*

This is a really bad app and this is a waste of my money and I am very mad right now I thought this would be a helpful app but it is a price of trash

### 1/5 — Beschreibung?

*2013-04-29*

Tja, und was macht man jetzt damit? Wie bei den meisten Apps fehlt auch hier wieder eine Beschreibung. Deswegen kann ich keinen Stern geben.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2013-01-04, version 1.6*

Got this to help me learn to read music. Deleted it straight away as it was no help for that.

### 5/5 — READ IF THINKING TO GET THIS APP!

*2022-05-19, version 1.8*

Ok so I got this app and was really liking it! But after a while, it got boring. I think they should have different types of games. Of corse, they don’t have to. But I HIGHY RECOMMEND THIS APP!! I’ve improved in ways I can’t imagine was possible! Thank you for this app! I love it! Please please please get this app if your thinking about it! If the people that made the app respond to me or do a little update to the game, I know you care about the education of learning piano notes. And I’ll know you read this :) so please get back to me!

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking for

*2020-05-22, version 1.8*

I wanted an app that would help me learn the notes and that had an on-screen keyboard. This is perfect. You’re scored for accuracy and speed and can keep trying until you get all 3 stars. I think you need a basic understanding of the layout of a piano keyboard and staves (so perhaps not a good choice for your first ever intro to learning the piano) but this is really excellent for drilling once you have a basic knowledge.

### 5/5 — Just what the doctor ordered

*2020-03-10, version 1.8*

Forgot I had this app
Just started to learn piano, never used
Base Cleff. Brilliant App for learning it
Not seen anything like it.

Kind Regards
Mick

### 5/5 — Best app ever!!!

*2020-01-16, version 1.8*

This really helped with sight-reading! So great. Love the format.
Usually sight-reading apps are not very good but this one...WOW!
Best app ever

### 5/5 — Perfect for piano beginners

*2019-01-25*

Extremely helpful with practicing sight reading. It’s perfect for anyone who wants some extra practice with reading notes.

### 5/5 — So far so good

*2018-01-25*

I wanted to brush up on my music theory and this is a great place to start!

### 5/5 — Enjoy it

*2017-09-30*

I have learned a lot and enjoy the timed program

### 5/5 — Luv it,

*2017-08-28*

A great app for me, everything I wanted in practicing the notes.

### 5/5 — Great for intermediate learners

*2017-08-20*

FUN

### 5/5 — Best app ever for learning to read notes

*2017-06-20, version 1.7*

I have hundreds (thousands?) of apps and this by far is the the best piano related app that I have found for learning to read notes. I especially like the timer mode. The levels get more difficult, additng new key signatures and accidentals. Thanks so much for this app- I am coming along in my note reading much faster now that I am using this one..
