### 4/5 — Mostly good but lacks volume control for Practices

*2022-03-19, version 1.4.5*

I do like this app in general, but it does lack one feature that exists online if you go through the browser version: individual separate volume control of left hand and right hand sound in the “practice“ sections. Such a control allows you to turn off the sound you hear from, say, the right hand part while playing it yourself accompanied by the left-hand part. Otherwise there is much to like about this app. It would be improved if you could save the various tutorials into your own folders instead of dumping everything into the “My List“ section.

Note: In a VERY quick response to my feedback about the lack of a volume control icon, the latest version now does offer that feature. Way to go Pianote! Now if we can just get those separate individualized folders I mentioned I’ll up my rating to 5 stars!

### 5/5 — Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

*2021-03-03, version 1.0.18*

This app has made a great course even better. I spent weeks reviewing all the piano courses on the market. I did the demos and free trials on all and decided on Pianote. Not to be confused with same name apps. This is the real deal. If you want to learn only how to play a song or two by playing a game, look at the other apps. If you want to truly learn how to play the piano and read music so you can play any song, this is the learning method you need. Lisa and her group make an effective program that is fun and lets you learn at your own pace. The lessons even have a unique feature that allows you to slow them down yet you can still clearly hear the audio. Huge help. I went all in with a full access year subscription and I couldn’t be happier. Again great learning course made even better with this app.

**Developer response:** Ah, this makes us so happy!! We're so excited that you found us and that you found us - and decided to try us - after all of that research. ### 1/5 — Broken app

*2023-12-08*

Installed, signed up, app missing lessons, most buttons did nothing, relaunch app wants me to pay again.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you so much for your review. I am so sorry that you are experiencing issues. Would you be able to send us an email to support@musora.com so we can take a look and help you with this? Kind regards!

### 1/5 — Billing support issues

*2022-09-03, version 1.5.0*

Be careful with this service. I joined and paid an annual fee of 199.99 through ITunes - Apple
Apple billed me for this app but Pianote says I have not paid
So I am locked out of the app
Pianote has no customer support phone only texting access
I will report an update on this issue

### 1/5 — Horrendous

*2022-03-07, version 1.4.4*

This app is horrendous. If you log out you need to delete the app to be able to get back in. Weak stuff.

**Developer response:** Hey there, jjm0727, we're SO sorry to hear about your experience! Could you shoot us an email ASAP to support@pianote.com with some more details of what you're experiencing so that we can look into this more? Thanks! - Jenn, Student Support

### 1/5 — Worst App Ever

*2022-02-06, version 1.4.2*

This is one of the worst apps for iPad I’ve ever had the displeasure of using. When playing video it keeps flickering between a small and large screen. I’ve complained to Pianote about this problem before and it was never resolved. They just kept messaging me questions over and over until I finally gave up. I can’t imagine that I’m the only customer complaining about this. I just restarted my subscription and low and behold the same problem. Don’t waste your frustration if trying to view on an iPad. Just use your web browser instead. You’d think they paid the developer mucho dinero for this piece of junk they’d want to get their money’s worth. It never surprises me the poor decisions corporations make - especially when it comes to customer satisfaction.

**Developer response:** Hey there, Darwin456, I'm so sorry to hear that we haven't been able to help you with this so far! If you're open to giving us another chance, please email us at support@pianote.com and we'll do our best to help out! In the meantime, we're glad to hear that the website is working well for you! - Jenn, Student Support

### 1/5 — Took 30 from me

*2021-06-04, version 1.2.1*

I canceled my 7 day free trail on the same day I started it then it made me pay 30

**Developer response:** Hey there, JMaL22GTJN, I'm so sorry to hear that you had this issue! Please reach out to us at support@pianote.com if you'd like some help sorting this out, we're more than happy to help! - Jenn, Student Support

### 2/5 — Already Done

*2021-07-19, version 1.2.1*

Within 1 minute of having this app, I noticed that you had to pay to learn. Why can’t there just be ONE free piano app?!

P.S. I am sure that it is a good app, just, it costs. I a, not willing to spend money

### 3/5 — Room for improvement on iPad

*2024-01-09*

My main issue with the app is after having it open for awhile it will freeze my iPad. I rarely have other apps open. I usually close out all my apps when not using them out of habit.

This is the only app on my device that I have this issue with. I don’t know if it’s a memory leak or something else. My sense is it needs optimizing.

iPad 9th generation

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback.

It sounds like we might need to do a bit of troubleshooting and see what is the reason the app is freezing. This could be due to a number of reasons. Not enough memory, the latest version of the app might need to be downloaded.

Could you please send us an email to support@musora.com? We'd love to help you with this!

### 3/5 — Potential to be an amazing app

*2023-03-22*

I was hesitant to get this app but I couldn’t say no to free 7 day trial. I had read some reviews where the app was glitchy on the iPad from a couple years ago so I figured it was probably fixed.
Nope, the app doesn’t fill your entire screen, watching videos is very glitchy. I have amazing internet (150mbps) and the videos would just stop randomly through a lesson and just keep loading. (I’ve never once had this happen to me while streaming anything in my house)

I think the app is designed well where you can follow certain instructors and learn from the play styles you like, but the app just needs to be a little more easy to work with. I’m not spending $30 a month to get frustrated with an app while trying to learn piano. I’m also not going to try and learn from my tiny phone. The tablet situation really needs to be worked out because the tablet is so ideal for piano learning. If it wasn’t for the iPad app not being optimized, I would have paid for it

### 3/5 — Great app, but…

*2023-01-13, version 2.1*

It’s a very cool app, but it has one major problem that I’m running into. That is that the app doesn’t understand my piano, unfortunately it is an older piano that isn’t tuned properly and because of this the app doesn’t understand that I’m playing the correct notes. The problem lies in the fact that there’s no apparent way to turn this feature off, as it doesn’t work with my piano.

### 4/5 — Mostly really great!

*2022-11-15, version 1.5.1*

First off, if you’re debating Pianote or Flowkey, the simple answer from me is Pianote. I spent a year with Flowkey before switching to Pianote, and hands down, Pianote is a superior product.

Pianote has a good variety of instructors, all of them very upbeat, personable, and very human about the experience of learning and playing music. There are a variety of learning paths, the most basic in my experience is Cassie’s Technique class. Another path is The Method, which assumes you have some technique and are interested more in pop music. There’s a Classical teacher and book, and there’s several other teachers with their own specialties. The videos are well done and fairly comprehensive.

I’ve taken a star off due to the haphazard quality of the written support materials. Mistakes abound. For a beginning student, this could be very confusing and frustrating. For a non-beginner, it’s really aggravating to see error after error in the sheet music. Looking at comments in the sections, these errors are long standing. It’s baffling why such an otherwise high quality course would do this.

I highly recommend purchasing the Pianote Planner, which lends structure to your practice routine, and helps in setting and tracking goals. It’s helped me a lot and we’ll worth what it costs.

### 5/5 — Best app to have teacher support

*2024-04-08*

Have used another app and it was very good for reminding me the notes in F clef. I feel it lacks the musicality that Pianote provides. The teacher led courses and being able to hear and see a song being played is wonderful. Wholeheartedly recommend this app. I play as much as I can and love all the courses plus the song tutorials!!

### 5/5 — Skip the games

*2023-05-14*

Skip the gamification apps, they’re there just to keep you paying and they do this by omitting essential pieces of information that would make your reading that much faster. With Pianote, from the very first lesson they’re providing you with the information you need to improve your reading speed and that’s a huge improvement over apps like Simply Piano.

Yes this app has a higher cost, but it is real instruction and better guided practices. You can choose from Guitar, Drums, Piano, or Vocals and there are actual professional musicians you will recognize among the teachers here.

Lisa is great and she’s clearly the face of Pianote (I think we can all see why as her personality just comes alive and she’s very much an extrovert), but there are about a dozen teachers in each subject and if you have questions they will answer them.

I feel like this is a great app and the only thing I think it truly needs is a beginners start here section as you have to search “where do I begin” once you get in the app.

Also, they have a 90 day money back guarantee, try that with any other app and they might just laugh at you.

Another thing, a lot of people turn to the MIDI connected apps like Yousician, Skoove, and Simply Piano for the instant gratification, but there are genuine issues with forcing your hand to do things, because the apps pacing is driving you. This type of training can genuinely damage your hands and leave you unable to play for long periods of time. With Pianote, you do not have that issue, they’re all about proper pacing and good technique.

I highly recommend this App!

### 5/5 — Go to the next level

*2023-01-15, version 2.1*

This app and all the instructors is fantastic. I've been teaching myself piano for years, studying books and YouTube, but I learned so much from Lisa and the team. The lessons progress nicely from super basic to complex. You can go from the beginning or jump in wherever. There's a TON of sheet music from many genres. And I like the community aspect.

I researched many piano learning apps and am so glad I chose this one.

### 5/5 — THE REAL DEAL!

*2021-11-18, version 1.3.4*

Folks, this is the real deal when it comes to piano apps. Lisa and all the other instructors are so knowledgeable. They keep it simple yet challenging at the same time. I cannot tell you how excited I am to sit at the piano each morning. I couldn’t be happier. Keep up the GREAT WORK Pianote!❤️

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2021-10-01, version 1.3.3*

I downloaded all the major piano apps and wasn’t vibing with any of them until I found this one, it is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It feels like actually having a teacher and the knowledge progression is logical and is filling in all the gaps I had from years of playing without actually taking any lessons. It is really amazing to see the combination of theory and practice yielding results in my production sessions, where as before I would have been stuck doing things by ear, now there are a lot of instances where I quickly apply a bit of theory and boom, like magic the vibes keep flowing without missing a beat. I really like how the beginning modules are focused on proper technique, as someone who is more interested in learning theory and technique so I can apply it to my own creative endeavors, this is great. I’m even stoked to learn the songs now, because it isn’t just ‘oh learn this random song’ it’s ‘ok here’s the technique and here is a song where we can apply it in action’. So amazing, what a time to be alive, great work y’all!!

**Developer response:** Hey, Wackoweber, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to leave this awesome review!! We're so pumped to hear that you've been enjoying Pianote so much. We'd love to hear from you any time at support@pianote.com any time you have any feedback for us so that we can keep making Pianote even more amazing! :D Happy playing! - Jenn, Student Support

### 5/5 — Pianote is a GAME CHANGER!

*2021-03-07, version 1.0.18*

I have done piano courses before and ended up quitting. This is so much better than anything I’ve done before! Following through the step by step courses of the Method and my Course Pack has helped me learn stronger. Thanks Lisa!
