## What is Picky?

Ordering should not be the hardest part of eating out. Point your camera at any menu and Picky reads every dish, then tells you which ones are for you, which are worth asking about, and which to skip.

It helps if you eat carefully - allergies, intolerances, ARFID, autism, sensory sensitivities. It helps just as much if you are abroad staring at a menu you cannot read, or you are simply tired of deciding.

HOW IT WORKS
- Point your camera at a menu, or paste the text
- Picky reads every dish and checks it against how you eat
- Dishes that suit you come first. "Worth asking" gives you the exact question to ask your server, so you don't have to improvise

MENUS IN OTHER LANGUAGES
Picky reads menus written in languages you don't speak and tells you what's actually in each dish, so an unfamiliar menu abroad stops being a gamble.

FEWER THINGS TO DECIDE
A long menu becomes a short list. Picky puts the dishes that suit you at the top and collapses the rest, so you are choosing between three good options instead of forty unknowns.

TELL IT HOW YOU EAT
Go past ingredients. Rule out fried food, anything too heavy, or more than mild spice. Set a diet like vegetarian, vegan, halal or kosher and Picky rules out everything that breaks it - including things you'd never think to list, like gelatin or stock. Flag textures that put you off, from mushy to visible green specks.

IT LEARNS FROM YOUR MEALS
Tell Picky how a meal went and it gets more confident over time: which cuisines suit you, which textures don't, which restaurants have worked before.

PLAN AHEAD
Save the places that worked. Add upcoming trips and pin restaurants to check before you go.

EATING WITH OTHER PEOPLE
Start a group session and share a menu. Everyone sees the same dishes judged against their own restrictions, so nobody has to explain themselves at the table.

PICKY UNLIMITED
Free includes 5 scans to start, then 2 a month, with dish verdicts and names. Unlimited adds:
- Unlimited scans
- The reason behind every flag
- Full ingredient breakdowns
- Ballpark calories on dishes that suit you
- Saved restaurants and history
- Group dining
- Shareable scan cards

£5.99/month or £59.99/year. Cancel any time.

Picky is a food preference assistant, not medical advice. It reads what's printed on a menu and can be wrong. Always confirm with restaurant staff before ordering if a reaction would be serious.

Picky Unlimited is an auto-renewable subscription: £5.99/month or £59.99/year. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase.

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2026-09-13*

Really great app and was super easy to navigate. It’s simple to use and has genuinely helped me whenever I go out to eat. Would definitely recommend!

### 5/5 — Very Useful app

*2026-09-12*

Very useful app for working out places to go with my autistic son who seeks sensory food and is very specific! 😊

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-09-12*

The app’s idea is amazing, I have not seen anything remotely similar to this in a while - coming from the ARFID community myself. The referral program is a nice touch too, and the ui itself is clean and easy to understand!

### 5/5 — User experience

*2026-09-10*

The app is very easy to navigate through and it gives you a lot of space for personalisation. I’m currently trying to stick to the diet and it is exactly what I needed to make my life easier!

### 5/5 — What a great app - recommend!

### 5/5 — I have IBS and this makes my life so much easier.

*2026-09-10*

My new favourite app. As someone who is constantly having to think about where to eat this app makes my life so much simpler.

It’s super easy to use and very intuitive.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for the feedback!

### 5/5 — Great App for Dietary Restriction Dining

*2026-09-10*

It’s a great idea, and it lets you scan a menu and filter out the dishes you can and can’t eat based on your preferences and dietary requirements you input at the start. This makes eating out significantly easier, and it can even scan menus in other languages, ie. Spanish, making travelling & eating out less stressful.

**Developer response:** Good afternoon, I'm glad you found it useful!

### 5/5 — Really useful!!

*2026-09-10*

It has great questions for the food profile, I especially love the ability to mark some foods as “sometimes okay”, I’ve never seen that before!! Great app!

### 1/5 — This app will hurt people.

*2026-09-09*

I think this app creates more restrictions on people with eating disorders. The mindset of ‘see what you can and can’t eat’ isn’t helping anyone with an ed and should not be advertised in that way. It is fuelling anyone who downloads it with an ed by creating an environment where calories and restriction is the main focus. The creator clearly has no understanding of any eating disorders wether that be arfid or anorexia if they are targeting this app to people with these mental disabilities. It will do more harm than good in the long run and there needs to be more research into these disorders. AI doesn’t need to be in everything, we all have eyes and can read a menu, people with ed’s know what they will or won’t eat, and it changes day to day. There is no need for this app and the creator is doing much more harm by marketing this app to vulnerable individuals.

**Developer response:** Hi, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely want to make Picky as useful as possible, and we’re sorry to hear that it didn’t meet your expectations.

We weren’t able to identify an account associated with this review on our end, so we’d really appreciate it if you could get in touch with us at our support email - hello.picky.ai@gmail.com, and tell us a little more about your experience and what you think we could improve.

I’m personally very keen to listen and make Picky better. Thank you again for the feedback.

### 1/5 — Patronising

*2026-09-09*

I am utterly disappointed, as a representative for adults and children with ARFID in the UK I was initially hopeful. My team and I are constantly looking for new tools and resources we can share with struggling individuals, and what I found on this app was bluntly patronising. It is very clear that the creators of this app haven’t dealt with ARFID themselves as they have assumed that this idea would be in anyway beneficial. Individuals with ARFID struggle immensely daily and a part of that struggle is being understood. This app has completely missed the opportunity to authentically want to support people struggling with food and instead benefit from it for their own personal gain. Just shameful.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you for taking the time to write this. First, I'm sorry the app left such a feeling for you. Picky was built to help people I was growing up with to navigate the anxiety of ordering, not to speak over the ARFID community. I'd like to understand where it fell short so it can actually be useful rather than presumptuous. With that said, more exciting updates and changes to both the app and models are coming. If you're open to it - feel free to reach out via hello.picky.ai@gmail.com

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.2 — 2026-09-13

- Minor bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where dish styles and diet preferences (halal, vegan, etc.) weren't being saved or used in scans
- Fixed a preference in onboarding that was being answered incorrectly by default
- Added the ability to edit a restaurant name when the menu photo doesn't show one
- Reminder: Refer a friend and you'll both get 5 bonus scans

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-08

A new look, and Picky now understands more than ingredients.

TELL PICKY HOW YOU LIKE FOOD COOKED
Rule out fried food, anything too heavy or greasy, or more than mild spice. Set a diet like vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, halal or kosher and Picky rules out everything that breaks it, including things that never appear on an ingredients list.

A MUCH BIGGER LIST OF FOODS
Common allergies are up front and general, so one tap covers dairy or tree nuts. The specific versions are there underneath when you need to be precise.

BALLPARK CALORIES
A rough calorie estimate on dishes that suit you, for Picky Unlimited. You can turn these off in Settings.

FIXED
- Some dishes were flagged when they shouldn't have been. Avoiding nuts no longer flags butternut squash, and avoiding eggs no longer flags aubergine.
- Cancelling a subscription now says so in the app, with the date your access runs to.
- The app no longer asks for your Apple Account password out of nowhere.
- New app icon.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-07
