## What is PicPile?

PicPile turns a pile of photos into one polished picture. Bring in a batch of screenshots or photos and PicPile composites them into a single styled card — or keeps each one on its own, framed the same way and exported separately. Padding, backdrops, corners, shadows, and captions are all handled for you.

THREE WAYS TO PILE
Grid composites every image into one aligned card. Fan spreads them from a shared hinge below the stack, each one turned a little further than the last and overlapping its neighbor. Solo keeps them separate — each shot styled the same way and exported as its own file.

STYLE THE WHOLE CANVAS
Dial in padding, the spacing between shots, corner rounding, and a soft shadow or glow. Leave the backdrop transparent, pick any color, or drop in a picture that fills the canvas.

TITLES & CAPTIONS
Give any image a title and a caption, rendered right into the export. Fan carries its own title and subtitle, set into the open space the arc leaves rather than on any single picture. Text Size scales the type from Small to Large, and the air around it scales to match.

BRING IN PHOTOS YOUR WAY
Pick photos from your library, import from Files, or paste — a copied image or a screenshot both work.

FRAME IT YOUR WAY
Solo and Fan fit the canvas to the content, or to a square, 4:3, 16:10, or 9:16. The live preview shows a checkerboard wherever the export will be transparent, a dashed frame on its exact edges, and its size in pixels.

SHARE OR SAVE SHARP
Send the composite straight to Messages, AirDrop, or Photos through the share sheet, save it to Files, or export every staged image at once. Transparency is preserved.

NATIVE ON IPHONE AND IPAD
Built in SwiftUI, with a layout that adapts from iPhone to iPad — the style inspector opens at half height on iPhone so the picture you're adjusting stays in view. Speaks 11 languages, and saves .picpile documents that open right back up in the Mac app.

Built for app screenshots, photo grids, social images, moodboards, and product shots.

PicPile works entirely on your device. It never collects, stores, or transmits your images or any personal data.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.6 — 2026-09-07

PicPile for iPhone and iPad now shares one engine with the Mac app, so everything below arrives at once.

Fan is a new way to arrange a pile. Your pictures spread out from a shared hinge below the stack, each one turned a little further than the last and overlapping its neighbor. Fan carries its own title and subtitle, set into the open space inside the arc rather than on any single picture.

Backdrops can be a picture now, not only a color, filling the canvas and cropped to cover. Turn the backdrop off entirely and the exported picture keeps its transparency.

Transparent areas show as a checkerboard in the preview, a dashed frame marks the precise edges of the exported picture, and the inspector shows its size in pixels.

Text Size sets how large titles and captions render, Small through Large, with the air around the type scaling to match.

Aspect fits the whole canvas to a square, 4:3, 16:10 or 9:16, in Solo and in Fan alike.

On iPhone the style inspector opens at half height, so the picture you are adjusting stays in view while you work, and the layout switch floats above the thumbnail strip.
