You can read English. The grammar makes sense. But in a real conversation, the words just don't come. Pictan is a vocabulary app built to get you past that wall. For everyday conversation, not for tests. Every word has an image Every one of the 8,000 words comes with its own original image. Your brain is better at remembering pictures than letters, so a word learned with an image is a word you can recall mid-conversation. English-in-English, never over your head Definitions and examples are all in plain English. If a word is unfamiliar, just tap it: a popup shows its image and meaning right away. You never open a dictionary or a translator. Because every word has an image, even the words inside a definition can be grasped through pictures. Vocabulary you'll actually use The words are chosen for daily conversation: things you can see, actions you do, states you feel. Twenty words at a time You learn in sets of twenty. First you meet all twenty with their pictures and meanings, then you check whether you can recall each one. The ones you miss come straight back, and you check again — the set isn't finished until all twenty are yours. No more "I looked at fifty words and kept none." A set takes a few minutes. Built to keep you going Once a word is learned, reviews ask you to recall it from the picture and definition, then tap to check. "I've seen this" becomes "I can say this." Review adjusts to each word — only the words you're about to forget come back, spaced so what you learn stays learned. A short check at the start places you at the right level.
