It starts off giving you the sentence, verbally and with pictures if you choose and then it gives a small break and then you have to pick the picture of the sentence that was given a moment ago. Also has fun little pick a door to find the animal game that my daughter loves! The only thing I would change is if once the sentence is done it would automatically move on to the next sentence. ### 5/5 — Excellent App! *2012-10-24* I love how this app pictures each part of the sentence for the user. It helps them use their mind to think about what they are hearing. Then they have to recall this and process it in order to "frame" the meaning of the sentence. In this lite version you can track data for up to 3 users and customize many settings to meet your needs. I especially like how you can set the difficulty level, adjust the wait time and select the type visual cues (2 kinds to choose from - color drawings or stick figures, or none at all). Being able to customize when the "Door Game" reward activity appears is a nice touch too! It does seem really slow at first unless you know how to do the settings ahead of time. I recommend the full version so one has more options. ### 5/5 — Super App *2012-10-17, version 1.3* I really like this app. It is great for teaching young children simple pronouns. Pictures are shown of each segment of the sentence, and children are then asked to find the picture showing the action. It's good for teaching listening skills.There are three difficulty levels to choose from. This app works on auditory, visual, cognitive skills. The sentence shows you with pictures & words what is being said which will really help many children on the spectrum. The options and levels are very helpful. Thanks Hamaguchi! ### 5/5 — Great app! *2012-10-17* This is a great app. I love how it shows individual pictures of items as it reads the sentence and then wants you to use your memory as well as creativity to put the pictures together into one picture which shows all of what the sentence is stating. You really have to listen well because some of the pictures are generic but, the end collaborative picture is detailed and you need to know those details. Great job! ### 4/5 — Good app *2012-10-17* This app works on processing language at the sentence level. There are 3 levels of difficulty. The first 2 levels present individual pictures (boy-eating-carrot), then the student selects the one picture that represents the sentence. At the advanced level no individual pictures are presented. I like this app a lot. ### 4/5 — Very Solid tons of uses. *2012-10-16, version 1.3* This app has a lot of different uses. You can have your kids build sentences in a variety. Again, like most apps from Hamaguchi it is simple enough to be used by a parent and still be appropriate enough for an slp or teacher to use as well. I definitely recommend this app and others for your kids. TP @jedipadmaster ### 5/5 — Yet Another Awesome App from Hamaguchi! *2012-10-16* This app includes clear concise directions and the ability to adjust difficulty level (3 levels), the wait time between responses, what type of visual cues you want, after how many correct responses the game will appear, the type of subjects being used (nouns or pronouns) and sentence type. Progress can be tracked as well. Very versitle tools for a lite version! This app teaches noun, verb, object sentences. Each part of the sentence is associated with a picture. When asked to remember the sentence the student/child has to place the corresponding picture into a picture frame. If they choose incorrectly the picture is returned to its spot. There is no corresponding sound or admonishment for choosing incorrectly. If the child chooses the correct picture, the sentence is repeated and they are told "Good Job!" This lite version is well worth the .99 price tag! The white background helps to keep the student/child focused on the task at hand. The pictures are bright and engaging. This lite version is well worth getting! Highly recommend this app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Needs update! *2012-05-01, version 1.2* Crashes every time I tried to choose my child's name. Couldn't change settings, always went back to default. Fix these things and I'll try it again. Could be a useful tool for children with challenges. ### 2/5 — Not great *2017-02-10* Speech therapist recommended this. My 3 year old seems to like it and it is good practice for him. But there are problems. Interface exemplifies buggy, lazy coding. Non-universal app. (You'd need to buy it separately again for iPhone.) Pretty limited in content. This is the lite version and should have been a freebie. Ugly, uninspired UI. I'd be willing to pay well for a polished version of this. **Developer response:** Dear Mitch177. No sure what issues you are experiencing with it being "buggy" or why you are describing it as having "lazy coding". Can you please send us an email at info@hamaguchiapps.com? We'd be happy to troubleshoot as we have not had reports of crashing with this app and it was updated fall 2016. The content is indeed simple in design on purpose as many of the children who use this app have autism spectrum disorders and need an uncluttered visual field. While it may seem "uninspired" it is actually driven by careful research and 35 years of experience working with this population. While I'm sure it would be wonderful for you to receive this app for free, we are a small private company and have to pay our programmers and artists as they don't work for free. The amount of content on this lite app rivals many that cost much more so we feel 99 cents is a great bargain it! That said, we're sorry it didn't meet your expectations. However it is not versatile enough for my students with higher skills. A reinforcement following a correct response will make the game more interesting and motivating. e.g. good job, clapping etc. ### 4/5 — One tiny request *2018-03-16* I like app and it fits the specific needs of a few of my students. My only request would be to make it possible to manually move onto the picture choices after the sentence is given instead of automatically moving to the three choices. I would like to have the option to have my student repeat the sentence before moving on to finding the corresponding picture. Like a simple button that says "next" or just an arrow. You follow?? Or even making your own sentences so you can tailor the app even more specific to the student. **Developer response:** Hi AnneMarie. Thanks so much for your feedback. We actually do have a "show choices" in a manual mode for our other apps so we will definitely look at doing that with our next update. In the meantime, you can go into Settings and adjust the "wait time" so you have enough time in between the sentence presentation and the time the user selects the correct choice. Also good for pronouns, too! My only complaint is that the pictures don't exactly match from the instruction to when the kids has to choose from the pictures on the bottom. This app is no exception. It is well designed and I did not experience any technical issues while using it. My young patients enjoy using the app and find it engaging. I love the uncluttered design! I've learned that many kids with diagnoses, such as Autism, think in pictures. This will be a great tool for me to use with students who need help constructing sentences. The visual support will help students construct sentences with positive feedback. I like the customizations for each child (levels, repetitions, characters, etc. Also, the parent/therapist/teacher can save up to 3 student's data in this lite version.
