This is especially useful for making decisions to minimise tax liability. But it doesn’t support old HMRC logins and CGT entries seem to cause a major error in the tax calculation. If you don’t need to use these 2 features then it’s great. But could be other bugs I’ve not encountered. ### 3/5 — No bulk upload of receipts *2026-03-28, version 7.2.0* Looks like it has potential - but all receipts have to be manually entered with no bulk upload AI scanning option. ### 3/5 — No pensions income type yet *2026-03-16, version 7.2.0* Looks good but was linked to this app from a SIPP app yet the Pensions income type has not yet been developed. They’ve almost gamified your tax return and no I’m not an accountant. Help has always been very quick and concise with plenty of updates and developments all the time too. The only thing I could improve is invoice design - (and an option to see how it actually looks!), and matching invoices with transactions has been a bit wonky, but I believe it must be fixed with the new update. Downloaded this app thinking it would help me. Allowed them access my bank details, it didn’t manage to calculate anything so the number were zero for everything. Pressed to file the assessment thinking it would give me the opportunity to amend all this mess by hand. Allowed access to my HMRC account. And as soon as it was done the app has sent that self assessment with all zeros to the HMRC thank you very much. Customer support does nothing - there is no phone just robot support via texts. I was planning to handle it before the end of the month now it’s overdue. Absolute rubbish ### 1/5 — Really bad *2026-05-05, version 7.5.0* I worked with Richard for a self assessment HMRC tax return and he submitted inaccurate figures compared to the figures that I gave him. Terrible! ### 1/5 — Tax support is not worth it *2026-04-21, version 7.5.0* Never buy tax support in £89 they are not worth it ### 1/5 — Absolutely rubbish *2026-04-10, version 7.4.0* Paid for the top service where I was assured my tax return would be ready and submitted for the 6 th not only was it not ready until the 10th they also massively under cut my return so I decided to go to an accountant and got my return doubled and paid I would not ever trust this app with your money under any circumstances ### 1/5 — Terrible app *2026-04-07, version 7.4.0* Smart feature doesn’t work properly then will add loads of random stuff messing up your tax return. You will then be asked to pay money in order to fix it. ### 1/5 — Poor and unresponsive *2026-01-18, version 6.2.0* Tried using it with no luck! Added my income and tax amount with photo of P45 tried to move on and the app is totally unresponsive with no option to add a second employment for the tax year to progress. Waste of time! ### 1/5 — DOESNT ALLOW CAPITAL ALLOWANCE ON APP *2025-12-26, version 6.1.0* I’ve submitted my return thinking I can add on capital allowance however that’s a paid service within the app to add it, I’ve tried amending on hmrc website however it doesn’t allow you as it’s been submitted through PieTax. I’ve used the chat service and they are telling me to use the paid service for them to amend it, now I’ll be contacting hmrc to have my return removed from this company. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2025-10-31, version 5.0.4* Can’t even enter a basic state pension manually. It keeps directing you to call support. Looks like app is not ready and it needs to be as it is time to do last FY return. Monumental waste of my time. ### 1/5 — Can’t even get on the app *2025-05-26, version 4.5.0* Impossible setting up a login… doesn’t send security code to device or email. Says attempt failure. Then too many attempts means they block access for 10 minutes. Deleted and re-downloaded the app. Still not working. Tried this twice and gave up. ### 1/5 — Good idea but needs MAJOR DEBUGGING *2025-01-31, version 3.8.0* I’ve experienced multiple glitching issues that’s rendered the app unusable. This includes: CGT not adjusting to personal allowance, inability to add dividend/interest and property income — it flashes back to the previous page, text box freezing. I’ve tried quitting the app and removing the app, nothing worked. And I just submitted my tax return and I didn’t even use the one that costs and all I had to do was email and password and it submitted it all for me instantly. Sole Trader, Graphic Design seems to be an enigma to some accountants on what we have to expense for our job!
