## What is Pikaslice?

Introducing Pikaslice, a comprehensive slicing solution for both Resin/MSLA and Filament/FFF 3D printers on the mobile platform. Effortlessly import your 3D models, adjust their orientation and layout, apply manual or automatic supports, examine your scene for islands, and export your work to an extensive range of supported Resin/MSLA and Filament/FFF 3D printers.

While the use of an Apple Pencil is highly recommended, it is not mandatory. To transfer the exported files to a thumb drive (and subsequently to your printer), you'll need an adapter, such as USB-C to USB-A, depending on your specific iPad and thumb drive model.

There is zero justification to paying repeatedly for something like this.  The convenience of it being an app doesn’t change the fact that it gets stuck on export often, cant handle complex prints, and the docs refer to an auto support generation method that is not present in the app.  No one wants to drag around and place supports for every single print.  The AI features are a useless novelty marketing gimmick as it applies useless changes that dont even take effect.  Hard pass.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry the app didn't live up to your expectations. The export issue definitely isn't the experience I'm aiming for, and if you're able to email me with your device model and the file that gets stuck, I'd like to investigate. Complex models are supported, but performance does depend quite a bit on the device's available memory and processing power, so there are cases where older or lower-memory devices can struggle. I'm also curious about the auto support feature you mentioned. If the documentation refers to a support generation method that you couldn't find in the app, please let me know which page or section you saw - that may be outdated documentation on my end, and I'd like to fix it. The same goes for the AI features. If you can tell me which ones you tried and what changes didn't take effect, that would help me determine whether it's a bug or something that isn't working as intended.

Can you make Gcodes? Yes. Can you edit STL files? No. Is it glitchy? Yes. Does it freeze and crash periodically? Yes. Your ability to set layer temps is nonexistent and the infill patterns are limited to 3 options. The process of editing supports is very tedious and requires practice to make it less annoying. Beware that the “autosave” isn’t really saving your work in the event of a crash…you will have to start over. Same goes for when the app freezes and you have to close the app and reopen it. It’s currently the only slicer I’m using on my iPad Pro but if the devs don’t make some tweaks that could very well change. That being said; the apps mostly works and you can get the job done with plenty of patience.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the honest review. Just to clarify one point - layer temperatures can be set for the first layer and for all subsequent layers. On supports, I’m not entirely sure which mode you were using - there are four options for filament printing (auto-generated at slice time, manual supports, block supports, and graph supports), and the experience can vary quite a bit between them. If you were using manual supports, that workflow is admittedly more hands-on right now and can feel tedious, which is something I want to refine. STL editing is currently limited to separating shells and planar cuts, so it’s not intended to be a full modeling tool. Crashes and freezes definitely aren’t expected, so if you can share anything reproducible (file, steps, what happened right before), that would really help track it down. On infill, additional patterns were already in progress and will be included in the next update (including honeycomb and gyroid). Appreciate the detailed feedback.

It’s a great app don’t get me wrong but I’m new I’ve ask the ai chat bot what to do and it won’t work. I did everything it said but I can’t find the auto support setting. It is probably just me but I can’t find it.

Horrible app. Paid for 1 year and it doesn’t even work. I have a 3d printer and all I got the app for was slicing objects but it doesn’t do it properly. I did a test and it just puddled filament in a few spots didn’t do any layers. It said you got 1 free trial day and I canceled my subscription within hours and still haven’t seen the money come back to my account. This app was such a waste of money. Please don’t waste your time or money on it.

First impressions looked great, hundreds of machines supported. Opened a file ok, rotated and set up on the bed just fine. Then it went wrong. Froze every time I tried to add graph support, so ended up having to use block support, then when I tried to slice the file it constantly froze again. 

Gave up and got my laptop out, I was just being lazy.
