### 1/5 — ATTENTION ARNAQUE

*2024-09-21, version 1.0.6*

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2024-09-16, version 1.0.6*

Lifetime users of the old pile are left having to pay for this “new” version. The old Pile was updated to be annoyingly frustrating to use by opening a pop up everything you click on something telling you to just go and download this “new” app instead. So now people who had the lifetime version of the old pile can’t use it without getting nagged and they have to download this version and pay for the features that we already had. On top of that, this “new” version is even worse, there is so many features missing and you can’t even import all your stuff from the old version to this new one.

### 1/5 — no free upgrade code

*2024-09-12, version 1.0.6*

as promised for former lifetime users... scam

### 1/5 — Bait and switch

*2024-09-08*

Scummy developer. Trying to get users to pay again for the app they already paid for. Says you can get grandfathered in if you previously paid for it, but doesn’t actually respond to your email when you try to hold him to that. Just use a different app.

### 1/5 — Kein flüssiges Arbeiten möglich

*2024-09-07, version 1.0.6*

### 1/5 — No upgrade for paying user of old app

*2024-08-31, version 1.0.6*

I sent the developer an email requesting an upgrade code from the old app (I had a lifetime subscription) and have yet to receive a response. I will change the rating if that changes.

### 1/5 — ⚠️ 🤬 PAYER DEUX FOIS la même chose ? C’EST UNE ARNAQUE !! 👎

*2024-08-28, version 1.0.5*

### 1/5 — Abandoned and then relaunched as a new app with new pricing

*2024-08-26, version 1.0.4*

This developer cannot be trusted because he launched his app, charged money from users, abandoned it, and has since relaunched the same app, again asking for another subscription.

### 1/5 — Previous Lifetime purchases were invalidated

*2024-08-26, version 1.0.4*

This company is running a total scam and knowingly refuses to honour previous lifetime purchases from the old Pile app in this new app.

Do not trust them with your money or your data.

### 1/5 — Bite n switch

*2024-08-17, version 1.0.2*

One star for these types of developers

### 1/5 — Scam pricing

*2024-08-17*

I paid once for each version, and now I have to pay again for the same app because it has been launched as a different one, and the old one depreciated. This is the worst way to approach growth for your app. I no longer wish you good things, the way you have ruined the past trust.

### 1/5 — Really??

*2024-08-15, version 1.0.2*

No way to import from the previous version, and now 4 times more expensive for a year subscription?! I used to use Pile because I liked the product and believed in the dev, now I’ll look elsewhere

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — We were promised a code

*2025-12-03, version 1.0.6*

For the revised app, but all this guy has done is ignore us.

### 1/5 — Developer lies about the app’s star rating, based on the OLD Pile, now crippled & abandoned!!

*2025-08-11, version 1.0.6*

The OLD Pile was great. Now the developer has crippled it, yet uses the high star rating the OLD Pile received. It was loved by the users, and it has been rendered unusable. Paid users who purchased a life time subscription to the OLD Pile have not received an upgrade code, nor are they automatically switched over with their content in tact. They must manually bring all their OLD Pile content in one by one, even Evernote had a reasonable export and import option, and look at what happened to them when greed set in.
As for this new version: First, the app info mentions a one year introduction price of $12.99. That is not reflected in the app itself. When you try to subscribe, all you get is a $23 a year option. That’s the second turn off. Furthermore, you must start from scratch. There’s is no way to import your OLD Pile clippings. It’s a complete chaos, motivated by greed, and made worse by the developer’s unkind treatment of his formerly loyal and happy customers. Finally, I find it really gross that the developer blatantly lies about the NEW Pile’s star rating. Instead of being honest about the 1.4 star rating he quotes the OLD Pile’s 4.3 star rating. That shouldn’t even be allowed, as it is false advertising! Apple should crack down on that “toute-suite!”The developer’s behavior should tell you all you need to know, and give you serious pause as to whether you can trust him not to just abandon this project as well, leaving people bait and switched and dropped altogether. I find the entire experience in poor taste all around.

### 1/5 — Developer unreliable

*2025-07-20, version 1.0.6*

This developer promised to offer his new Pile app free for the ones who had the previous version.

Unfortunately even after multiple attempts to reach out to him by email he keeps ignoring his own words and doesn’t even respond.

The « old » app does the same as the new one and he also introduced a pricing which is definitely out of touch for what the app does (a simple url saver). They are many alternatives such as the great Raindrop.io (freemium), Goodlinks, Anybox or Matter. Just keep moving on!

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-05-23, version 1.0.6*

The developer screwed paid users by relaunching the same app under a new name. Paid again and he screwed paid users a second time by abandoning the app. Absolutely deplorable!

### 1/5 — So Legacy users can get bent?

*2025-03-23, version 1.0.6*

It was a beautiful app, then the greed came, and the dev decided everyone who bought full versions could screw themselves and made their version unusable while offering a free upgrade you will never see.

### 1/5 — Take note

*2025-01-18*

This is a great example of how a dev can work hard to successfully build a solid app and a solid rep only to destroy both due to poor communication, a short sighted revenue strategy and disregard for legacy users. The only path of redemption for this dev is to give legacy users lifetime premium access and plead with them to change negative ratings/reviews or a complete rebrand and launch under a different company name with no obvious ties to PILE… unfortunate.

### 1/5 — awful

*2024-11-30, version 1.0.6*

Slower than the original, can’t drag and drop, deletes things after moving them at random. I assume the developers didn’t honor the “lifetime” purchase of the last app as well, and the old app was made unusable by pop-ups that you can’t disable. it’s a good reminder for me to never auto-update something that I’ve paid for.

Update: the old version is not useable, as well.

Hello, in the old version there is a message that there is a code for existing customers. Unfortunately I have not received anything. I like this app - but what's going on now? The old App was really good, now there's a second version, this one is now with a subscription. I have written to the developer and am still waiting for an answer. What is the philosophy now in dealing with customers who have bought the app. I would be very happy to receive information ... Thank you very much. No answer from creator.

Update: Now this new App don‘t work anymore, and the old App shows a message several time so that so can‘t work with the App

### 1/5 — Trying to get promised upgrade to new version

*2024-11-01, version 1.0.6*

When I open app I bought lifetime subscription to - I get popup message to email for code to unlock new version. Been waiting & checking and no reply. When you unlock the new version as promised I will be happy to try it and revise my review.

### 1/5 — Bad app and No Dev Response!

*2024-09-21, version 1.0.6*

I really liked the old app, so I paid for the extra features. It had a few qwirks, but was fine for the most part. Now, a new version of the app is out, making the old very unusable. There is a popup on the screen for the new app and a way to email devs. Since I paid the first time, I was offered a code to unlock everything in new app if I emailed dev. I have sent a few emails while waiting a bit of time in between, but get no response. I guess they just do not care. I liked the app, but I will not pay again. At least remove the popup from the old version. I think I’ll leave reviews everywhere about this If I do not get a response.

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Bait and switch

*2024-10-07, version 1.0.4*

Great app. Local first. Super clean.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2024-09-13, version 1.0.6*

Very well thought and sync

### 3/5 — Keine Antwort vom Entwickler

*2024-09-11, version 1.0.6*

Also E-Mail geschickt und Wochen gewartet. Keine Reaktion. Reminder geschickt. Still ruht der See. Inakzeptabel. Drei Sterne, weil ich versuche trotzdem Verständnis aufzubringen.

### 3/5 — Good but needs some work

*2024-08-11, version 1.0*

I moved over from the deprecated version of Pile because I really liked that app. I noticed that some things are a little glitchy. One big issue is that there’s no obvious way to import items from the old version, so I’ve been stuck having to transfer them over one at a time. Since I have a lot of things saved, it’s become quite time consuming. Another big issue is that some items are not staying in the folders where I put them and then don’t go back when I try to move them to where I originally put them. I’ve also had a few items completely disappear - they aren’t even in the bin. This is extremely frustrating. If these things are fixed, I’ll be happy to improve my rating; until then, I can only give it three stars at best.
