### 5/5 — Lighthearted, Creative Fun!

*2020-06-18, version 1.0.8*

After “beating” the game the first time, I returned to the game three more times to collect all the achievements. It was a real hoot finding out how to attain all the achievements using all five characters in various ways. What a fun, creative game that keeps you laughing and smiling along the way. Way to go, Amanita and Apple Arcade!

### 5/5 — Wonderful Game and Fun Replay

*2020-05-26, version 1.0.8*

I played through the game and really enjoyed it. The artwork is very well done and the animation and music fit very well together, creating a polished theme. Controls are easy and intuitive. The story isn’t very deep, but each character has enough to make you interested in learning more. The minor complaint I have is that the achievement cards can be difficult to figure out how to get, because they are fuzzy. If the developer had made them grey and then colored them when unlocked, I think it would have been better. I played through it multiple times until gaining everything.

Nicely done game and a perfect length for casual gaming!

### 5/5 — Master Piece

*2020-03-18, version 1.0.8*

This game is just amazing. The story is fun even without any dialog. There’re many ways to solve the same problem and they will lead to different paths. The flipping cards clearly tell you about that how many possible paths you’re missing. It is just worth playing more than once. The puzzle design is interesting, you need to do experiments on different combination, the progress is pretty fun. The graphics is unique but very well done. The character animation is engaging and you can clearly tell their reaction to your input. The only drawback is the game is too short. It took me about 1 hour to finish the 1st run. For sure it will take more time if I want to unlock all the cards, but if the main story can be a bit longer for the 1st run, it will be even better.

### 5/5 — An excellent game

*2020-02-23, version 1.0.8*

The gameplay is engaging and the art style is charming. I loved discovering the different achievements. My one complaint is that it’s less of a full game and more of a demo. But that’s apparently true of a lot of what’s available in Apple Arcade at the moment. I would happily have paid $5+ for a full game developed in this manner, though. I hope there will be more and soon.

### 5/5 — AMAZING GAME

*2020-02-13, version 1.0.8*

honestly this is my most favorite game apple arcade released and one of my favorite games of all time. i definitely recommend it for everyone to play. you have to complete quests in order to move on and unlock achievements

i only have 1 problem. it’s very short. can you please make it longer? pleaseeeee

### 5/5 — Great little game

*2020-01-23, version 1.0.8*

I like those old conversation based adventure game that you always need to figure out some silly or interesting trick to pass the quest: this game gave me the same feeling although there was no “conversation” throughout the game. It does have a lot of funny interaction with all the characters which I think is what I am looking for. I hope this game has a sequel since it was a short game!

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2020-01-18, version 1.0.8*

You put so much into this game and it shows in every way: the card metaphor was beautifully designed and implemented; the panto animations were charming; the mumbled voicing was amusing and warmly human; the music and sound effects were spot-on—the bird song at the boat!; the artwork gorgeous; the random paths appreciated; the overall simplicity and clarity flattering; the attention to detail everywhere generous.

Just beautiful, the kind of game I hoped to see in Apple Arcade, and now have.

### 5/5 — Great game.

*2020-01-06, version 1.0.8*

Beautiful, funny, charming. Sucked me into the game. Wish it was longer. I am not taking a star off for that last part because it’s a compliment. One of the most fun games i have played in a while and when i was finished, 😞 I hope a part II is in the works or chapters are added because i want to play more.

### 5/5 — Amazingly well executed

*2019-11-27, version 1.0.6*

Such a simplistic style with the type of fairy tale like folklore I grew up on. I love games that reward creativity via achievements. I like that you can reply slightly differently each time but I wish the game were longer or that there were more stories.

Please make more of this, devs. You have a great concept here with beautiful unmatched art, a unique perspective, and great storytelling ability. There’s obviously a lot of high talent involved.

### 5/5 — Fun little Puzzle Game

*2019-11-07, version 1.0.6*

It doesn’t take too long to complete, but with the card unlocks, there were obviously interactions that I missed. Probably worth at least a second playthrough if interested in a full clear. Good music and a good, clean interface which is rare these days.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 2/5 — No Sense

*2022-11-28, version 1.0.11*

I am willing to give any game that is a point and click a chance. But when I get stuck right in the very beginning trying to figure out how to get a water to boil potatoes and I have to get a bird in order to go out on a boat. That’s a bit much. This game does not make any sense and of course I read the reviews about the cards. But the cards don’t help if you can’t get the items necessary. Thank God it was free because deletion is done.

### 2/5 — There’s no audio control. Unplayable.

*2020-10-01, version 1.0.8*

How in the year 2020 does an app developer fail to include a basic volume control or, hell, even just mute the literal gibberish?

This is a game ostensibly about nonverbal communication. Why with the all the grunting? W the actual F?

Giving this a star for the benefit of the doubt that perhaps there’s a game here to play but I sure as hell won’t know because I prefer to listen to audiobooks while playing these kinds of games and this crap audio is distilled nopenope.

### 4/5 — great game, read if your interested

*2023-04-22*

overall, pilgrims was a great game. I loved the adventure and the art. i must say that this game is a bit too easy, and takes less than 30 minutes to finish. the main goal is getting a bird for an old witch (storyline doesn’t make sense) you have to go through stages of getting things for the other civilians and do some really random things and interact with odd things. this would’ve been a 5 star if it weren’t so easy and fast to finish. looking at this game I didn’t expect it to be so easy, nor fast. so i really would recommend updating it and adding another storyline that isn’t as short. otherwise, i completely recommend this game and hope the you the reader get this app.

### 4/5 — A must play!

*2023-03-28*

This is one of the more fun games I’ve found on Apple Arcade and I recommend it highly. I can’t give five stars to just any game but it is a four star for sure. I like the mumbly voices for the characters, the art is simple and cool, and it is really fun going back to replay it to try and get all the accomplishments. They aren’t all easy or simple, either. I am at 36 accomplishments now(of 45, I believe) and I am stuck, but I don’t mind- a good game should have replayability, and that is a big selling point for me. Go waste sometime on this one. I bet you like it, too!

### 4/5 — Too short

*2021-02-01, version 1.0.10*

I finished the game in about 30-45 mins. I thought giving the lady the bird would take me to a new level but it ended the game, which was a disappointment. I played it a couple more times to unlock all the cards but it wasn’t as fun the second and third time around. This game was great- just wish it was longer.

### 4/5 — Good, but so, so short.

*2020-11-02, version 1.0.8*

I really enjoy these types of fun, nonverbal adventure games that get across the instructions/goals via pictographs. I am a fan of Machinarium and Botanicula. I was having a blast with Pilgrims, so imagine my surprise when, after getting to the point where you can cross the river, the game suddenly ENDED instead of simply taking you to a new map as I’d assumed it would. It was a real let down, and is the reason why I can’t give the game 5 stars. I did a complete run through in just a few hours of gameplay. I suppose they expect replay value in order to collect all of the cards, but honestly that doesn’t incentivize me much (I’m not an achievement completionist). I really was just hoping for it to continue. But for the short game it was, it was unique and I had fun playing it.

### 4/5 — So far so good

*2020-10-30, version 1.0.8*

I’m not one to write reviews, ever. But I thought it was necessary. No, there aren’t any instructions or tutorials but you really don’t need them. It’s pretty easy to figure out. The one thing I actually love is that this game is in portrait mode. The gibberish doesn’t bother me but you can put your phone on silent and the problem is solved. I literally just started the game today so that’s the only reason why I gave it 4 stars.

### 4/5 — I wish there was more

*2020-08-24, version 1.0.8*

I love this game so much and it’s so exciting and well made, I just wish that after you unlock all the achievements there was a new level with more adventures and even a new map. Like maybe if when you go on the boat at the end it would take you to another location with a new objective. I love this game so much and really wish there was more. I really hope to see a new map with the next update. Please consider my ideas thank you.

### 4/5 — Cute!

*2020-06-04, version 1.0.8*

This game is a very cute concept. It is pretty short but it’s still rewarding. Sometimes it is hard to know what to do next. I wish you could try to get all the achievements without starting over at the end of the game but this isn’t possible because some characters are needed for them that you no longer have

### 4/5 — First of all...

*2020-03-17, version 1.0.8*

Really fun game. But...There needs to be more to do! Playing the same thing over and over! More places more Items more friends! However, this is a beautiful game and for humans who like little Change this game would be fantasy! I Like this game because it’s you decide! Tangled Tower, my least favorite game on Apple Arcade, is nothing like this. If you like Tangled Tower I guess you won’t like this game. There’s no right or wrong, No risks or luck, just you! This game is perfect for peeps with Free spirit and follow the wind. If you like playing one story All the way through, Don’t get this game. But with no bugs and perfect graphics, You can always follow the Wind!!!

Your friend on Apple Arcade,
CHORLONE

### 5/5 — Another fantastic adventure.

*2022-09-27, version 1.0.11*

I remember getting Machinarium back in 2013 or so, when it barely came out. It took me years to finish that game! I loved it so much, and I still do. The art, the story, and the arrangement of everything was fantastic, and truly captured my imagination as a little kid. Amanita has done it once again with Pilgrims. Thank you guys so much for making these awesome games.

### 5/5 — 💎Charming adventure with multiple paths!

*2022-01-06, version 1.0.11*

Absolutely charming music and animation. Feels like stepping inside a real folktale. Unlike any other game I’ve played, this is refreshingly different. I love it - thank you for the care and attention to detail that went into this creating this game. I would love to play more stories with the same characters.

### 5/5 — Brimming with Culture

*2021-12-02, version 1.0.11*

My first play through was amazing. Having grown up playing early console and computer games, I appreciate having to “figure things out” on your own to learn how to play. The animations and illustrations are fabulous and rich. The music and dialogue is enjoyable and the mechanics are perfect for a phone or tablet.

My maternal grandmother was a first generation Slovak-American and I feel so much of her family in this. There’s a balance of melancholy and joy in this game that perfectly embodies the Slovak side of my family. Thanks to all who put their energy and talents into this game. Your contributions really shine!

### 5/5 — Fun, Quick Point & Click!

*2021-09-23, version 1.0.11*

For the people who complain that there is no text and the game is hard to follow, the game is actually really straight forward and all the hints lie within the cards. All you have to do is tap the cards for a preview. The game is great and allows you to try different methods to get different outcomes in each scenario.

For those of you who actually read reviews before playing a game, just don’t listen to the 1 star reviews, they’re all written by people who don’t want to put even the slightest effort in trying to figure out a SIMPLE POINT AND CLICK game or are legit complaints about a bug that seems to have been patched already.

Fun game! My only complaint is that it is very short and does leave you wanting more. Was able to 100% the game in a few hours. Hoping to see more in the future!

### 5/5 — Fun for almost any age

*2021-08-27, version 1.0.11*

I absolutely loved playing this game! Definitely very creative and captivating. The challenge of earning every card with so many different choices and combinations certainly kept my interest. The artwork and animations were especially fun and made Pilgrims a worthwhile and addictive game to play. Bravo!

### 5/5 — FINALLY!

*2021-07-20, version 1.0.11*

I love, love, love this game. Finally something new. Choosing cards to interact with characters is a hoot…the reactions are funny. Plus, there is a map so you don’t have to spend time tediously walking from place to place. I wish the game was longer, much longer!

### 5/5 — Lovely and folkloric!

*2021-06-24, version 1.0.11*

This is a beautifully done game, with a unique and charming art style and nice details/sound design. As others have mentioned, playing it through once won’t take long; think of it as a card-collecting game where a great deal of the reward is discovering new things with each story “retelling.” Not for everyone, but I’d still recommend giving it a try!

### 5/5 — What a Gem

*2021-05-28, version 1.0.11*

I absolutely love this game. It’s short and sweet, worth playing multiple times. The gameplay is smooth and wonderful without the need of dialogue. The change of music throughout the scenes fit so well. I really appreciate this game and it’s worth the time!

### 5/5 — This game is perfect. Download immediately.

*2021-04-22, version 1.0.11*

I literally never leave reviews, but I felt like I HAD to with this game. Everything about it is so charming and beautiful. The art, the music, it’s so simple yet so full of depth. Despite the lack of dialogue, it’s still so easy to understand and feel immersed. I am absolutely dying to have more of this story, even after playing through many times to get different outcomes. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that it’s not longer, I need MORE because I want to continue to get lost in this little world with all of these characters.

### 5/5 — Another winner from Amanita Design!

*2020-08-06, version 1.0.8*

I eagerly await each release from Amanita design, and this did not disappoint. This one was very short, light hearted and fun. And as with all Amanita games, great puzzles to think through and solve. As a whole, I love all nuances with characters in their games; and the cohesiveness of this coupled with the fantastic art, sound and story lines create a fantastic world to escape to for a few minutes whenever I need break. One request though, PLEASE bring us the next iteration of Samorost AND PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE Machinarium 2 next!!!!
