## What is Pilot FlightLog?

FlightLog is a professional pilot logbook built for line crews who fly more than just hops. Track hours, generate operational forms, and share a single flight record with your whole crew.

Real flying isn't one leg. FlightLog models a duty period the way it actually works:

### 1.8.8 — 2026-08-30

• Offline duties stay on the phone — creating or filling a shift without internet writes it to local storage immediately, including after you fully close the app while still offline.
• iCloud upload finishes — new duties no longer stay stuck on “waiting to sync”; a shift filled offline is pushed when you open the app online; each duty card shows “Saved locally only” or “Uploaded to iCloud”.
• iCloud can no longer replace a duty you have not finished uploading — a later empty copy (fuel remainder and medical only) cannot wipe airports, times, crew, or attachments.
• Local files are kept until this device has exported them — iCloud is not allowed to overwrite or delete a non-empty attachment folder while those edits are still waiting to upload.
• Send to your Ops folder — in Settings, add the HTTPS address of an existing folder plus login and password (Nextcloud, NAS WebDAV, company disk). Send packs the journal, flight assignment, and scans into one zip and puts it there. No FlightLog script on the server.
• Optional custom ingest — if Ops already has its own HTTPS receiver, you can point Send at that URL instead.
• Share stays as it is — if you do not turn this on, Send still opens Mail / the share sheet.

### 1.8.7 — 2026-08-25

• Restore that responds — any backup you can see is one you can restore, with a progress indicator while it runs and a clear result every time.
• Faster restore — only the backup you chose downloads from iCloud, so restoring no longer stalls for minutes.
• Every copy is labelled — the backup list says whether a copy is on this device, in iCloud, or both.
• Damaged backups — a missing attachment no longer stops the whole restore; your flights come back and only that file is skipped.
• Your flights stay put — a failed read of the database can no longer lead to an empty logbook, deletions made while a large logbook is loading stay deleted, and attachments of flights that have not loaded yet are kept in iCloud.
• Flight assignment — short duties stay on one page; fuel and remarks print on the form; flight engineer / radio operator (BPR) sit after the pilots; ATL documents are easier to find; split duty starts with one tap.
• Share to Ops — journal, assignment, and scans go out as one zip so Mail no longer drops the attachments on the way. Optionally send that zip to your own HTTPS server from Settings.
• New app icon, including the dark and tinted styles of iOS 18.

### 1.8.6 — 2026-08-06

• Logbook reliability — flights save correctly to the on-device database from the first entry; deletes stay deleted after restart.
• Backup & restore — automatic backups every 7 days (3 archives kept); restore picks the fullest copy from this device or iCloud; legacy journal files import again.
• iCloud sync — deletions propagate to your other devices; attachment uploads retry in the background; clearer status when sync is still catching up.
• Recovery — choosing a recovery source fully replaces the flight list instead of mixing with stale data.

### 1.8.5 — 2026-07-26

• Crew from your saved names: pick PIC/SIC (and your own name) from the list. Different spellings of the same person now count as one for limits and recent flying.
• Link old spellings: open a person in Settings → Saved crew names and mark which past PIC/SIC names belong to them.
• Deleted names stay gone after restart.
• Face ID / Touch ID lock is solid again — full cover, and the app re-locks when you switch away.
• Duty list shows block time. Sync and attachments are more reliable.
• Light theme is properly readable now — status colors, limits and times hold their contrast on white.
• Larger text sizes and VoiceOver: list rows scale instead of staying tiny, and buttons and duty-forecast controls are spoken correctly.

### 1.8 — 2026-07-15

• Document vault — keep licenses, medicals, passports, and visas in one place, with expiry reminders 90, 30, and 7 days ahead. Find it in Settings → Documents; you can include it in backups.
• Ramp-check mode — quickly show an inspector or offline PDF with your credentials, recent flying, cumulative limits, and a logbook excerpt. From the toolbar, a Home Screen Quick Action, or flightlog://ramp-check.
• Apple Watch — your watch face can show the next document expiry after syncing with iPhone.
• FTL radar — see how much duty and flight time you still have ahead, when capacity frees up, and try up to five “what if” shifts. Open from Statistics, the home limits card, Duty Forecast, or flightlog://ftl-radar.
• Import flights — bring in CSV from LogTen Pro, ForeFlight, MCC, or a generic spreadsheet. FlightLog detects the format, helps map columns, and shows a report before anything is added.
• Cumulative limits — rolling flight and duty totals for Order No. 381, EASA FTL, or FAA Part 117 on the home screen and in Statistics. A toolbar dot warns when you’re close to or over a limit. On the home card, reference totals and rule limits are separate; FAP-128 shows month, then quarter, then year.
• Choose your rules — on first launch, pick FAP-128, EASA, or FAA. Clearer limit feedback, plus a gentle haptic when you approach or exceed the cap.
• Faster editing — start a new duty from your last one, jump between Duty, legs, and Totals on multi-leg shifts, and clearer messages when times don’t add up.
• Clearer home toolbar — E6B, Ramp Check, Duty Forecast, Statistics, and Export PDF stay in view; filter, sort, settings, CSV, and import live under ⋯. List sort is date only (newest / oldest).
• Refreshed app icon — a cleaner plane + logbook mark without the title baked into the artwork.
• iPad — list and editor side by side, comfortable reading width, and shortcuts ⌘N, ⌘F, and ⌘W.
• Big logbooks feel faster — open and scroll smoothly even with hundreds or thousands of entries.
• Cleaner iCloud Drive — in Files you only see scanned flight PDFs under FlightLog → flightlog_scan (by flight number and date). Internal sync files stay out of sight; empty folders and accidental duplicates are cleaned up automatically.
• iPhone stays upright — the app stays in portrait; you can still turn the phone while scanning a document.
• Safer sync & easy update — deletes stay deleted across devices, and your existing logbook upgrades automatically. Nothing for you to do.
