### 2/5 — Need more language

*2019-04-28, version 2.4.3*

Need mexico spanish

### 2/5 — Japanese

*2019-01-17, version 2.3.6*

The Japanese is horrible in translating. I was listening to my wife who is from japan and it said she was eating a cat and sleeping at a hard time and not eating while in bed, none of which was anything like she said.

### 2/5 — In theory

*2018-11-29, version 2.3.2*

This was a good concept, but the app does not pick up voices consistently. User had to repeat many times over the phone but software still does not pick up any word.

### 2/5 — Hope it gets better

*2018-09-25, version 2.2.9*

Does not always translate correct words, even while testing in quiet surroundings. Hoping it will vet better with use

### 2/5 — Not up to expectations yet

*2018-08-24, version 2.2.7*

This is a great idea but not realistic for communicating or listening. Tried to play a simple german video and translate to english and it couldnt keep up. Tried saying words in german and it could barely understand. Listened to music and the blue tooth kept going in and out eventhough the iphone was in the same location the entire time.
Overall not a quality product yet, or maybe the software needs refinement.

Additionally, you always need to be connected to wifi or a data connection for it to work.

### 3/5 — Good so far!

*2018-06-12, version 2.2.6*

I kinda don’t like how the other person has to have a smart phone in order for the two of you to talk. I guess the way to get around it is to use Listen.
I’m also sad that Tagalog isn’t an available language yet, I’d love to be able to use this to talk to my mom in her native language.
I also had trouble with the headphones and getting them both to play music. Other than that, this is going places.

### 3/5 — App works well except

*2018-06-01, version 2.2.6*

“Listening” just completely crashes the app.

### 3/5 — Interesting concept

*2018-05-28, version 2.2.6*

I was very excited when I first learned about The Pilot because I have many friends and family the are Chinese so it will help me with my Mandarin. In addition I have several Chinese movies that I would enjoy watching without having to read English sub titles. Unfortunately when I contact support I was told it would days or possibly weeks before someone could back to to help. The Product is very good, but support not so much.

### 1/5 — Horrible Bad Day, Week, Month, Quarter

*2018-05-26, version 2.2.6*

I’ve had my pilot ear piece since the very beginning of March and they have never worked. I tried all the fixes suggested on the website and all the fixes when someone FINALLY answered me back. They then said their engineers would work on a fix for me and get right back to me. I pinged them after 3 weeks. That was the beginning of April and it is now the end of May and I just now got an email enquiring if perhaps I still needed help? Uh duh? They didn’t magically fix themselves. They didn’t offer to exchange them. So for almost 3 months I have an expensive BRICK that does NOTHING. They say it’s the software so I’m giving it a 1 because I cannot give it a zero

### 1/5 — Frustration

*2018-05-17, version 2.2.6*

This is the most frustrating technology I have ever used. I can’t get both ears to play music. This amount to do translation is painfully difficult, and the instructions available on the whole pages are practically useless.

### 1/5 — Not good enough

*2018-05-09, version 2.2.6*

Selective translation

### 1/5 — Cannot connect to each other and conversation mode is awful

*2018-03-11, version 2.2.4*

I received my earpieces and immediately started setting them up to the surprise that I could only hear music out of one piece at a time. I put them to charge and came back the next day. Same. Went through the troubleshooting page and no luck. I can connect each individually but not together. Then we tried conversation, the original intent was that only the main phone is supposed to have an app and you can just share the earpiece to start talking. I hope it does also work without wifi or data because when I’m traveling I don’t want to pay roaming charges or be tied to wifi. My wife and I tried English<->Russian and we COULD NOT hold a conversation. Translations were wrong, many times the buds didn’t pick up our voices, and the app would just start picking up both voices.
THEY CURRENTLY DO NOT WORK AS INTENDED. 1)Why can’t I listen to music from both? Fix that; 2)Fix the translation capabilities to smooth out conversations; 3)Make the service not dependent on wifi/data; 4)Make it such that it only needs one phone. Fix each point and I will add one star/point to this review. Thank you.

### 1/5 — Not very good. Disappointed

*2018-03-09, version 2.2.4*

After waiting over a year for these headphones , this app has not worked that good. Mexican to English has always been incorrect. After over a year wait and a lot of money for these I am just disappointed

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2018-03-06, version 2.2.3*

I have to say, I was really excited when I found out about this product. Little did I know that it would appear to be a bait and switch program. I had understood that I would be able to use my smart phone and both of the earpieces to communicate with other people in a different language. Instead, I find that I need to download an app, and the other person that I want to talk to needs to download an app - how unbelievably inconvenient for someone that you meet on the street or in a casual setting - and they need to have a smart phone and be connected with my earpiece. This is the biggest waste of money that I have ever spent on a new product release and I regret the purchase.
Oh yeah, the ear pieces are freaking huge and while a bit too large for my ear, they seemed designed to fit my huge German Shepherd’s ears. Perhaps she could use them, oh yeah she would need a smart phone and the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Support is lacking and never worked since I received it

*2022-04-02, version 2.5.1*

I received my pilot ear pieces the right one was low in volume could not get it to go up, contacted Waverly technical support, long story short over a month of back and fourth asking me to try this and that, each time taking days to correspond. Still have not resolved the issue. After investing in this tech and waiting for its release, it is a serious disappointment. Not happy at all

### 1/5 — Head Coach

*2019-08-14, version 2.4.6*

I bought two Pilots to use for working with my Chinese athletes. Not once has it held a connection or even connected properly and we are all using iPhone 7 and above. We have tried many different ways since the normal instructions fail to connect two people in a conversation. Very frustrated that it cannot work. Had very high hopes!

### 1/5 — Please fix it Please!

*2019-05-08, version 2.4.3*

Updated to the latest 2.4.3.
With continued effort, I managed to get the right ear piece to update. The left ear piece will not update. I also have another set. Neither of those two (Right or left) will update. I even tried repairing them to the phone many time. Then I deleted the app several times and repaired them and that didn’t work. I even paired them to my iPad and tried updating them there. Nope, Nada!
I know the first pair right ear piece took the update because when talking on a phone call I sounded great with no background noise. I tried the left ear and it sounded like I was in the middle of busy traffic. Same with the second pair. I have two days and I will be traveling to the Dominican Rep. and I am very upset. As for the translator part of this it works very well. Lucky for me I can also understand someone Spanish, but I can speak it very well.
I would give 4 stars for the translator but trying to find any information on web site is bad. You can’t even find u-tube videos on anything. Very disappointed!

### 1/5 — Joke?

*2019-04-27, version 2.4.3*

I cannot even get the earpieces to be discovered on my iPhone XS Bluetooth.

### 1/5 — Logged me out

*2019-04-25, version 2.4.3*

Logged me out once I changed SIM cards on my trip and I can’t use this without logging in. What a stupid design, isn’t the point for travel?

### 1/5 — Waste of time and money

*2019-02-27, version 2.3.8*

Worst investment I ever purchased. Tried to use if the first day I recieved it, couldn’t get it to work. It is sitting in my closet now for over 1.5 years. I waited 2 years for the product. They got me and every body else. Anybody that puts a 4 star or above is either lying or works for the company. The product is trash.

### 1/5 — Very Disappointed

*2019-02-19, version 2.3.8*

I have been following Waverly labs before they shipped.

I received my Pilot earbuds for a work conference in Colombia ...

There pilot app is a pain... disconnects having to reregister every time I open the app. Nothing translates smoothly.

Holding the phone in front of the person talking, the app picks up nothing for several minutes.... then a few words here and there ...

Waverly Labs Pilot is not ready... perhaps version2.1 or 3 or 4

### 1/5 — Not impressed

*2019-01-06, version 2.3.5*

I didn’t realize how cumbersome these earbuds are. Using an app, making another person download an app is too much and not user friendly. When you build a product that you don’t need an app for to automatically translate, then contact me. Better off just typing into google translator. Much faster. Will be contacting customer service to schedule a return.

### 1/5 — So far I’m in impressed

*2018-11-01, version 2.3.1*

I invested in the Pilot so I could communicate better with my in-laws from Peru. The listen part doesn’t work unless your 3 feet in front of someone. The translator doesn’t always make sense. It places or substitutes the wrong words at times

### 1/5 — Not very accurate

*2018-06-30, version 2.2.6*

Doesn't pick up voices/words accurately and delays really bad when it says something wrong and then won't pick up the next line to translate. Not happy with my purchase. Most expensive ear buds I've bought, but at least I can use them for music and calls

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — voice speaker on phone

*2019-05-30, version 2.4.4*

I wish it was the same as it once was. It recognized your message correctly as you asked the question. Not anymore! It has a glitch. Now you have type everything in when using your phone. What a waste of time!! I downloaded it for the reason to make it easier on me. I do a lot of interpreting & sometimes I just need a word clarified, now I have to type it in.

### 5/5 — Great product

*2018-06-02, version 2.2.6*

I have had my pilot for a while but just started using it. Since I travel for business I didn’t think I could always ask someone to download the app. Instead I set up my old iPhone and just hand it to them for the conversation if it is someone I will only see once and for a quick conversation. Inviting another party is very easy and quick to set up.
I find it difficult to use in the listen only mode but I am getting better with practice. It is designed to work with the spoken voice not recorded sounds I think. If you can read and follow instructions and have the right equipment this should be fantastic for you.
I love this equipment and application.

### 5/5 — These are great

*2018-05-30, version 2.2.6*

So far this has been a great success. I am using it to speak Spanish to my handyman and he thinks it’s magic. Taking it to Italy for vacation. I can see this device and app improving my knowledge of languages quickly. Love it. I have not had problems with it unpairing but I have not worn it for long yet.

### 5/5 — Great Product

*2018-03-22, version 2.2.4*

The product is great, I am very excited for the beta real-time translation feature to be completely accurate. It will change the word of global business.

### 5/5 — Pilot I hope you overcome yourself;)

*2018-02-16, version 2.2.2*

The purpose for which it was created, failure in all senses, and more times than normal.

In my humble opinion I think that you are very close to success, but... I believe in the success of your project although to achieve this we must work much more on improving the software. You need a high degree of sensitivity in terms of recognizing and identifying 360-degree sounds of the language and to process that information in any language and in fractions of seconds. Language Barriers require high technology to build a bridge indestrutible of communication. When use for the first time pilot I had several visions. Its limitations helped me understand more about your improvements. Here are some ideas: Imagine a menu of infinite possibilities. It is known that translates conversations external, but if you could translate what you hear internally from your connection bluetouch with two Piliot connected. A video, a music, etc ...to Listen, to understand, to comprehend, to appreciate the beauty of the sounds that culturally other people, expressed through the language, is to love a technology as a Pilot.

Thank you very much

### 5/5 — Nothing in the Mail !!

*2018-02-13, version 2.2.2*

When am I getting mine??

### 5/5 — Clean interface-Will Use Even B4 Earpiece!

*2017-04-06, version 1.2*

I had to test a few of the icons to know exactly how the interface worked and since English was on top and that space likely for input, for example, I expected the mic Icon to be on top. Its very clean and easy to use once I tinkered for less than a minute. I am excited to get the Waverly Labs Pilot Earpiece Kit as soon as its fully developed (husband got us both a set on Indiagogo before the campaign was finished-great work by the way). This app is a nice forerunner to the full system-and as I'm sure your intent is, it alone is extremely helpful. I'm used to only having internet-based, free written translation - so many thanks for this. I'll keep working with it; in fact we have a business relationship with a foreign individual and this will be able to help us on phone calls or even skype to work through some of the words and phrases which we always seem to have some difficulty with, although he understands some English:)

### 4/5 — Longer voice range recognition

*2018-09-10, version 2.2.9*

A longer voice recognition would be a lot better. Only picks up voice if holding the phone

### 4/5 — Awesome

*2018-06-26, version 2.2.6*

The earpiece are awesome. Stay in the ear and don't fall off like Apple earpods. I would have liked waterproof ones though if possible. Also waiting for some local Indian languages to be added and the software update which will allow offline translation by giving option for downloading languages. That would make this super awesome.

### 4/5 — The wait was worth it.

*2018-02-28, version 2.2.3*

I backed the campaign on Ingogo sometime ago, finally receiving them just today! The earpiece fits wonderfully in my ear and comfortably, even though it seems a bit oversized and I was afraid it would fall out. One downside that I would say about the experience is that if somebody is using the other earpiece they also have to have a smart phone and download the app to their device. I was under the impression that conversation would be quick and simple by just handing them the earpiece, but that isn’t the case and that is the only reason I did not give it five stars. Apart from that the app works smoothly for multiple languages that I tested out with.
