## What is Pinball Finder?

The application searches a growing online 'crowd sourced' database of pinball machines (currently over 4000 worldwide).

By using your iPhones/iPads current location the application is able to help you find your nearest machine or pinball event and enables you to upload a new ones that you have found or know of.

The data is 'crowd sourced' and relies on your contributions.

You can browse through the search results, select a machine/event and pinpoint its location via the link into the iPhone maps application. The smiley faces give you a clue to the pinball machines condition.

You can also set up an alternative location via the 'Near Other Location' disclosure button and use then 'Near Other Location' main menu option to see the nearby machines. This allows you to find out the machines available at locations you plan to travel to.

## Key features

- Find nearby pinball machines
- Discover pinball events
- Crowd-sourced database
- View machine condition
- Search by alternative location
- Link to iPhone Maps

### 3/5 — Good concept

*2013-04-20, version 1.9*

This is a nice app for finding machines in a day and age where they are few and far between. The problem I found is that when I get to where a machine is supposed to be, I either find a different machine or no machine at all. Would be nice if it were easier to update the conditions.

### 3/5 — Good idea, flawed execution

*2013-03-11, version 1.9*

I like the idea of a pin finder app, but unfortunately this one needs a little work. The menu options can be somewhat confusing, but the bigger problem for me at least, was that even though I pick a different search radius, it ALWAYS returns machines 0-50 miles away. I can neither narrow it down, not expand it to the 100 or 500 mile options listed. Fix that and my rating will go up.

### 5/5 — Great App but Dependent on Updates by Users

*2012-11-12, version 1.9*

Very useful when traveling. Have used both in the US and overseas. Main issue though is it is obviously dependent on folks updating when machines and conditions change.

### 3/5 — Used to be great...now appears mostly broken/crippled

*2012-08-13, version 1.9*

This used to be a 5-star app...truly the best...but there seem to be some problems at the moment. I'm on an iPod Touch (4th) and an iPad 3, both running the latest iOS 5.1.1. Something isn't right with the location input settings in the current version of Pinball Finder. I've added plenty of tables in the past without problems, so I'm not sure what has changed or why, but it is now impossible to correctly add/edit table locations unless you happen to be at the table's location. To a crowd-sourced database, this is the kiss of death. I don't have an iOS data plan, but even if I did, I wouldn't waste time at a bar or arcade keying in a bunch of details about a table. I'd rather do it once I'm home or at the hotel if I'm traveling.

I wanted to add a new table from home recently, but the app forced in my address latitude & longitude coordinates (uneditable & grayed out), regardless of the street address I typed in. So, per the instructions, I clicked the "Map" button, re-positioned it to the pinball's table's correct map location, dropped a map pin (clicking on the new map pin indicates "machine location"), and then clicked on the "Add Machine" back arrow to go back to the table's details to finish editing. However, the latitude & longitude didn't change, and the app replaced the table's actual address that I had entered with MY current location's address. Just to see what would happen, I ignored the latitude & longitude problem and just added the table without going into the map. What resulted was the correct street address I the listing, but incorrect distance calculations and map view, which is a major problem if one is doing a search using a distance radius filter!

I also tried turning off location services in the iOS settings for Pinball Finder. The only difference that makes is that instead of it defaulting to my current location's coordinates, it now defaults to a location in Horsell, UK. I've tried this multiple times, and based on a recent review from another user, it seems pretty clear that there is a bug in the app that needs to be fixed.

Also, if the Pinball Finder app could achieve real-time integration with Pinball Rebel's online database, that kind of integration would make this the pinball locator app to beat...hands down. Apps are great to use on the fly, but being able to log into a website to record data is usually a huge plus.

### 1/5 — AWFUL

*2012-05-23, version 1.9*

Stay away, even if free! This app is awful.

You can't add games unless you're physically at the location. As an operator, I'd like to add my games, but I'm not going to drive to each location to do it. The provided instructions for overriding the GPS feature do not work.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2012-03-19, version 1.9*

Works great for me, we just need more people updating the list, I know I'll be happy to update for the Phoenix area as much as I can.

### 1/5 — Help

*2012-02-04, version 1.8*

Too many glitches needs to seriously update crashes as well

### 1/5 — Outdated

*2012-01-06, version 1.8*

Horribly outdated. Most places either don't have machines or are listed wrong. One place listed has been closed for almost five years! Even has video games like Buck Hunter that are not Pinball machines listed.

### 1/5 — Crash Crash Crash

*2012-01-01, version 1.8*

Tried to update hopelessly outdated information only to have it crash after every single action. A good idea that was created and apparently forgotten about!

### 5/5 — Pin

*2011-09-13, version 1.8*

Great app for pinthusiasts! But relies on other to enter info and condition of game... So get posting you silverball maniacs.
