## What is Pinball Scout?

Pinball Scout is a scouting notebook for competitive pinball, with the live tournament tucked in beside it.

VENUES AND GAMES
Import any venue from Pinball Map, paste a neverdrains, Match Play or Pinburgh link, or build your own list. Every game gets its art, its rule sheets and strategy guides, and a place for your own notes: how it is set up, what the flippers feel like, where the skill shot lands, what to go for.

SCOUT FAST
The marking menu records a whole setup in one gesture. Plunge gauges, flipper positions and star ratings are a tap away, and a walk-up view shows just what you saved for the machine in front of you.

LIVE
Follow a tournament as it runs: standings, queues, your card, round alerts, and the math for what you need to climb. Match Play group play, best game and knockouts, neverdrains events and Pinburgh all work, with the finals brackets when they post.

APPLE WATCH
The wrist gets the running event, your place in line, the machine you are on, the skill shot for it, and strategy for any game. Complications keep the card on your face.

SHARE
Share a venue with the friends you choose and see their notes beside yours, or keep everything private. Export a backup any time.

No ads, no tracking. Built by a player, for the players at the tables.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-10-04

A big update that brings the app much closer to the web version.

Live
- Hide standings: a switch in Settings hides where you stand while you play. Per-game results, queues and alerts stay.
- Who is playing with whom: in Match Play group events, a colored dot at the start of each row marks players still on a machine, and players in the same game share a color.
- League nights get a "Games in play" fold, and event cut lines show right under the header.
- Bracket events draw as a tree you can pinch, drag and zoom, with "find me".
- Matchups for league nights that have them.
- Friends who are playing show a green rail on the boards.
- Tap a game name to open your notes for it.
- Round alerts for group play get their own bell, and "Alert me from" now updates your alerts right away.

neverdrains and Pinburgh
- Big events now open on an overview of everything you are entered in, with your rank in each.
- Tap a game for every score on it, or a queue spot to see who is in line.
- Pinburgh sessions list their games, and finals open on the round in progress.
- Your "I am" pick is remembered.

My stats
- Women's NACS race and Women's championship seeding (Worlds and WNACS).
- A link to your full IFPA profile.

Game panel
- A walk-up card with the facts you need as you walk up to a machine.
- Sections show a short summary when closed, and remember what you had open.
- Mark a plunge on the gauge, add photos to plunges, and add your own artwork for a game.
- Links in your notes are tappable.
- Choose your default editor (Classic, Quick pad, Marking menu or Text only) and which thumb you mark with in Settings.

Venues
- Re-importing a tournament now keeps your game order and banks.
- Link games: match every game that has no art or guides in one pass.
- Leaving an event share no longer removes the venue.
- Logos can match your theme colors, and logos can be a GIF or a short video.
- Offline guides: download PinTips, primers and rules for your venues before you go.
- Shared venues you do not own keep their game lists locked, as on the web.

Settings
- Collapsible sections with a summary on each.
- Resend code and Back on sign-up and reset.
- Create your own account from a guest session.
- Plenty of smaller fixes and wording that now matches the web.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-02

Critical bug fix.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-02

Persistent notes and My strategy are now on every game, just like the web app. Both sit in the game panel, and your group's shared strategy shows up there too.

New in Live
- Card builder for Match Play card events like the UK Open. Pick the finish you want, pick the games, and see the score that banks it on each one.
- League season "What you need": where you stand, what to hold or take, and how many nights you can still drop.
- Match Play events (like the UK Open weekend) import as one venue with a list of sub-events.
- I am is remembered for each tournament and picked for you from your linked account.
- Queue depth chips on card events, and a Standings card for more formats.

Venues
- Update games from Pinball Map for a single venue, and add only the new games to a venue you have edited by hand.
- Pasted game lists now open a review first. Fix misspellings, name banks, skip duplicates, and regroup into banks of 2, 3 or 4 before anything is added.
- Remove a game from a Pinball Map venue and it stays removed.

Game panel
- Capability chips and "not on this game" marks, so you only see the fields that apply.
- Group setups from your teammates, and star votes.
- See which of your venues have the game when you open it with no venue.

Also
- What's New now reads the live changelog.
- Help buttons on more screens.
- Alerts for friend requests and feedback replies on the tab bar.
- Plenty of smaller fixes.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-18

Venue groups: fold your venue list into named sections (tournaments, your own machines, league nights) and move venues between them.
Note ages: every note line keeps its date, and a Note ages fold lists the oldest first so stale reads stand out.
Logo editor: an Any knockout finds the logo edge and clears whatever is behind it, and animated GIF logos play.
Match Play: tiebreakers show a winner and a loser, and the format cards read cleaner.
Plus the plunge gauge in every note editor, note setups you can switch between, and hiding a venue setups from friends.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-18
