Pinewood Racing is for managing and scoring your next Pinewood Derby event. Use PwR on you iOS device (iPhone or iPad). PwR lets input all your racers in their respective groups to race. You are able to start one race or multiple races and are able to switch between active races for the purpose of running multiple tracks at once. PwR will schedule all the races utilizing the Lane Rotation method, and upon race completion will provide a PDF of the full results that you can share. PwR will also handle Tiebreakers, in the event of a tie for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd place finish the app will create the race for you. Any ties beyond 3rd place will stand as ties. We did run into a few issues, but I looked through a lot of options, and it seemed to be the best one for us. Wishlist (possibly user error): - ability to click on photos to enlarge them - place to input race times - ability to do a winners bracket between the dens - ability to change group of racer after saving (seemed to be locked) - summary pdf of all races App did glitch a bit when using, but I messed around for a bit & it worked again. Thank you for this app! It was a blessing to have for our derby. ### 1/5 — Not functional and crashed *2025-04-12, version 1.1.2* User interface is broken adding users is broken crashed on racing ### 4/5 — Great App but… *2025-03-10, version 1.1.2* Overall good app, especially for our first time running a derby. I do have a few ideas that could make it even better. 1. Some sort of pre registration, then allowing us to check in after we weigh the cars. Registration took over 30 minutes because I was the bottleneck on the app. 1b. Or, having the ability for multiple devices hooked to the same event so we could double the speed of registration. 2. Ability to edit registrations after they are created. Had a few kids put into the wrong groupings, so we had to delete them and start over. 3. Randomized races. If the next race car is the fastest, and yours is also great, you’ll race them 3 times and you’ll have no chance of hitting the podium. 4. Have the tie breakers happen BEFORE the pdf is created. It was really confusing having multiple race pdfs to figure out the finishers. Related, the tie breakers assigned new race car numbers, which meant finding the cars was tricky. Thankfully we took pictures. Overall it went well, and we’ll likely use again. ### 5/5 — The ONLY way to run your derby *2024-04-13, version 1.1.2* Once we figured out that you can’t run a race group of three on four lanes, we were set! This app is fool proof. No more messing about with timer-connected software that constantly needs updating. Also an animated scroll on final results so each contestant can be announced one at a time with app. Regardless, I like this app. ### 4/5 — Good app needs a little tweaking but made our race go well. *2021-06-19, version 1.1.2* Good app! Could use a randomized race order. Does a tie breaker style tournament not a double elimination style. Had to fully Disclose this to the racers. Everyone races at least twice. But those who only win one of their two in the first don’t move on to the next round. The next round will have the cars that won both races first round for a tie breaker. And so on. Til you get your final 3 racers to a final round. That this 25 car race went quickly about an hour and a half. Would use again! ### 1/5 — Glitchy *2021-04-27, version 1.1.2* Used this for our Pack pinewood derby event. It’s a good thing we are a small group because it kept crashing on us. We ended up finishing the night using paper to keep track because we couldn’t rely on the app to work. Also, great for determining first place, but will not prompt for a tiebreaker at third place and I could not find a way to select and track only 2 kids to run my own tiebreaker. Overall, very frustrating experience. Won’t use again. ### 5/5 — Great! *2020-09-30, version 1.1.2* This app was such a time saver and great way to run the derby. Most of it was intuitive, but I had to figure out to swipe left in order to edit racer info and to see past race results pdf.
