### 5/5 — keeps getting better

*2018-12-11, version 4.6*

Thank you, Henry, for the regular updates with the constant additions of films and cameras. There is no other app I value more.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2018-05-11, version 4.5*

Indispensable tool for handling pinhole exposures and crucially reciprocity failure. Includes data for common films and commercially available pinhole cameras. Only (minor) downside is the interface is a bit clunky.

### 5/5 — Excellente

*2018-04-09*

Superbe application.
Le tout en 1 est top. Simple, intuitif.

### 5/5 — A very useful App.

*2017-09-26, version 4.4.1*

I've used this to calculate exposure on several different film stocks with the RealitySoSubtle 617 and another film camera. It is just about perfect. Creating a log for each photograph within the app is extremely useful. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Love the app but it's odd...

*2017-05-03, version 4.3.3*

Love the app but it's odd that the picture used for the icon is NOT a pinhole camera. It clearly has a lens on it.

### 5/5 — Wow

*2016-12-05, version 4.2.3*

this app blew me away with its features and calculations (especially reciproc fail). I've been using it alongside a pinhole I made in a paintcan and (with the exception of one tricky lighting situation) all my exposures have turned out beautifully
Now Im using it as just a regular light meter, still five stars

### 5/5 — THE BEST !

*2015-08-14, version 3.5.1*

Absolutely the best app for pinhole photography. I love the option to save the view with all exposure data and time stamp. Bravo!

### 5/5 — Irreplaceable tool for Pinhole photographers!

*2014-09-04, version 3.1.1*

This light metering app covers all of the territory of Pinhole Photography, including settings for pinhole size (as an f-stop value), film speed and type, and reciprocity. You can also choose between reflected OR incident metering - whichever works best for you. Since adopting this light metering tool, I have never had an unusable negative. Kudos to the developer!

### 5/5 — très bonne application

*2014-08-22*

je suis très satisfait par cette application
je vous donne 2 piste de développement…. la réciprocité du fuji fp3000B et l'utilisation de filtre ND

ça serait parfait (pour moi ;) )

### 5/5 — Wonderful!!

*2014-02-19, version 3.0.1*

This app is perfect for the pinhole photographer in the field. I love that I can save settings for all my cameras and recall them instantly in the moment. One suggestion: it would be handy if when I make an EV adjustment, the viewfinder would show the corresponding lighter or darker preview.

### 5/5 — Super app

*2013-11-27*

Merveilleuse app, elle me garantie des photos réussies même par mauvais temps, hyper pratique pour la conduite d'atelier avec des ados impatients et exigeants! Merci Henri!

### 5/5 — The Best

*2013-08-05, version 2.10.1*

This is my most " LOVED " app. I am an avid pinhole and large-format photographer. This app was exactly what I needed. I still use two other light-meters ( a Pentax spot meter and Sekonic L-758DR ) alongside this app but less and less the other two meters come out of the bag.

### 5/5 — The App is amazing!!!

*2013-05-26, version 2.8*

I use it all the time and love it. I would recommend it very highly to anyone using a pinhole camera.

### 5/5 — Top!

*2013-04-28*

Testé pour la journée mondiale de la photo au stenope, j'ai été bluffé par cette appli! Tout sténopiste à iPhone doit l'avoir!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Latest update extremely unstable.

*2013-07-24, version 2.10.1*

I love this app, please fix it. It immediately crashes when it loads. Light meter sometimes gets stuck, you have to restart to get it to work. When you make this app stable I'll give it 5 stars.

### 4/5 — Great But Room for Improvement

*2025-09-06, version 4.37*

This is really the best pinhole light metering app out there, and I can’t knock it. I make my own pinhole cameras, and I need the option to manually enter my own f stop if it does not appear on pulldown list. Otherwise very well done!

### 4/5 — Need support without facebook

*2024-12-23*

I do not and will never have a facebook account, but I do need support.
The app crashes within 5-10 seconds after I open it. After several tries, I deleted and re-installed the app but still getting same crashes. Can’t use app at all now.

iOS 17.6.1

Please fix…

**Developer response:** Please contact us at contact.leborddelapiscine@gmail.com for support. Version 4.35, published mid October fixed a very similar problem. Please check that you updated to the latest version, and send us a mail.

### 4/5 — App Crashing on iPad Pro

*2024-04-27*

The App looks really good, but can’t really use it. As soon as I change any values it crashes on iPad Pro (9,7”), ios 16.7.7
Installed twice, just the same thing happens. Such a pity…

### 4/5 — Top

*2018-10-15*

Sehr gutes Hilfsmittel für Fotografen.

### 4/5 — Great for every kind of pinhole

*2013-11-18*

Tested on iPhone 5s with a pinhole f/238 and FP-100C on a Polaroid EE66 box. Perfect !
Could be nice if FP-3000B was implemented :-)

### 4/5 — Brilliant tool

*2011-12-10, version 1.5*

At last a really useful pinhole exposure app with built it iPhone lightmeter. One request would be that it also had a list lookup table of aperture/shutter time combos so for example I could meter with another camera then do the conversion for pinhole. Right now you need to either know the EV value (from an external meter) or use the built in iphone meter which is limited.

Overall brilliant app and the reciprocity function makes it unique. I hope it stats actively developed and keeps improving.

### 5/5 — I use it every time

*2026-01-02, version 4.39*

This app is great for metering, getting a view of the picture the pinhole makes, and incorporating reciprocity curves. Even works with slide film (which is known for being tough to meter). I recommend it to everyone.

The only potential feedback I could give would be to match the zoom and shape) square vs rectangle) to the image size and focal length, and maybe to allow a “blurry” view to better anticipate what the pinhole camera might capture.

### 5/5 — Essential for pinhole photographers

*2025-08-19*

I’ve been using the app for more than 3 years. My absolute recommendation for all enthusiasts of pinhole photography. A must have

### 5/5 — Very nice app!

*2024-12-27, version 4.35*

Very helpful app for pinhole photos. The metering works well and it is easy to find and use aperture and film data. Timer helps a lot also.

Good support, though I needed extra steps because developer uses Facebook for support. [I don’t like being tracked by Facebook and refuse to install or use it.] Developer responded quickly after I used my review to request support.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Absolutely fantastic for Pinhole!

*2023-05-28*

I've used this app for a couple years now, and have seen many improvements over time. The combination of having a whole lot of camera presets built in, along with reciprocity failure calculation for a huge list of films, there's not really anything more I could ask to add. This is an absolute must have app if you're serious about nailing exposure in some tricky situations. Very, very flexible and adaptable to just about any scenario!

### 5/5 — Le compagnon du sténopiste

*2022-07-03*

J'utilise cette appli depuis des années pour déterminer les temps de pose avec différents appareils à sténopé et les résultats sont parfaits.

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2021-08-31, version 4.17*

I’m relatively new to pinhole photography. Currently using Thingyfy lenses on my EOS 5D MKIV. I tried out this app for the first time today. With all parameters set correctly, I was able to get good exposures the first time. You have to covert the aperture diameters to f stops. Then you are ready to go. I was able to get good images with long exposures at ISO 100. Very pleased. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Works great.

*2021-02-04, version 4.14*

Really like this app

### 5/5 — Great support!

*2020-12-01, version 4.12*

I regret the 3 star review that I wrote in frustration when all my combos disappeared. This has been fixed and the communication has been excellent. This is a great app, so helpful for pinhole photography.

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2020-04-04, version 4.9.5*

I really like this tool. It saves me the trouble of figuring out the exposure time given the small aperture of a pinhole camera.

However, it does crash every single time I try to add a film (when I edit the reciprocity correction table). This is very annoying.

### 5/5 — My favorite pinhole app!!

*2019-02-08, version 4.7*

This is my go to app for pinhole photography. I just started playing around with pinhole cameras about a year ago and this has made getting good results much easier, especially because it takes reciprocity failure rate for whatever film you’re using into account.

The only other option I wish it had was the ability to key in “normal” exposure settings from a handheld light meter or dslr test shots and convert it to your pinhole exposure settings.

Regardless, this makes pinhole life soo much easier! Thanks for making this!
