## What is PinShot?

PinShot is a GPS track recorder and media geotagging tool built for photography, travel, and everyday location logging.

Start GPS recording before you shoot. Later, PinShot can match photos, Live Photos, and videos captured during the recording period with your GPS track, then write location metadata back to the media files so they appear correctly on the map.

Key features:
• GPS track recording: keep recording in the background, with adaptive power saving while stationary.
• Photo and video geotagging: match capture time with GPS records and write location data to photos, Live Photos, and videos.
• Track map: review daily routes with speed segments, distance, duration, and recorded points.
• Library scanning: find photos and videos that do not contain GPS metadata, with incremental and full scans.
• Manual selection: choose specific items from your photo library for geotagging.
• External files: import media from folders and process them directly.
• Track export: export GPS logs as GPX or BIN files.
• iCloud sync: Pro users can sync GPS logs to their own iCloud for use across devices.

Before you start:
PinShot needs GPS logs first. It can only geotag media captured during an active recording period. Capture time must be accurate; if a photo or video has an incorrect timestamp, or if it was captured outside the GPS recording period, PinShot may not be able to match the correct location. Older media without matching GPS logs cannot be recovered automatically.

Supported formats:
Photos: JPEG, HEIC, HEIF, DNG, TIFF, and PNG. Videos: MP4, MOV, and M4V containers, including common H.264 and HEVC/H.265 video. Proprietary camera RAW formats such as CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, and RW2 are not modified directly. Unsupported files are skipped safely and will not be changed or damaged.

Privacy:
Location data is stored locally by default. PinShot does not operate a tracking server, does not include ad SDKs, and does not sell or share your location data with third parties. Optional iCloud sync writes only to your personal Apple iCloud storage.

• Introduces a new track-writing and sliding-window filtering pipeline to reduce stationary drift, outlier points, and incorrectly connected routes.
• Improves continuous background recording and automatic recovery after app restarts, unexpected termination, or upgrades, reducing gaps and broken tracks.
• Refines route segmentation, GPX export, and photo/video location matching so real recording breaks are not incorrectly connected or interpolated.
• Automatic Photos scans now skip system screenshots; screenshots selected manually can still be geotagged.
• Includes stability improvements and bug fixes for iOS and macOS.
