## What is Pitch Trainer?

Pitch Trainer helps you build real ear skills: identify notes, recognize intervals, hear chord quality, follow chord progressions, and detect scales with confidence. It's built around structured lessons plus fast custom drills, so you always know what to practice next and you can improve consistently.

World-class training tools:

1) Pitch Trainer (Note Recognition)
 - Train your ear to identify individual notes by name.
 - Structured lessons that expand across the 12 chromatic notes
 - Practice across different octaves (low, medium, high, random)
 - Optional reference pitch to help you learn faster

2) Interval Training
 - Learn to recognize the distance between two notes.
 - Train all common intervals from minor 2nd through octave
 - Melodic vs harmonic options (separate vs together)
 - Ascending and descending practice
 - Short theory explanations and mnemonics to lock concepts in

3) Chord Recognition
 - Train your ear to identify chord quality and type.
 - Practice major, minor, diminished, augmented, and 7th chords
 - Progress from triads to more advanced chord types
 - Build reliability across different octave ranges

4) Chord Progressions
 - Train your ear to follow how chords move in real music.
 - Learn common progressions like I-IV-V, ii-V-I, and I-V-vi-IV
 - Practice cadences, turnarounds, and 12-bar blues
 - Build the skills to hear song structure by ear

5) Scale Detection
 - Train your ear to recognize scales and modes.
 - Major, natural/harmonic/melodic minor, and the modes (Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian)
 - Pentatonic, blues, whole tone, and chromatic scales
 - Progress from familiar scales to advanced tonalities

Practice your way
Customize the experience to match how you learn and what you play:
 - Note display options: sharps, flats, or solfege
 - Transpose displayed notes to any key (helpful for transposing instruments)
 - Choose different instrument sounds (piano, guitar)
 - Select exactly what you want to drill: specific notes, intervals, chords, progressions, or scales

### 1/5 — Não é igual ao app de línguas não!

*2026-08-17*

Não caia na propaganda dizendo que é igual ao app de línguas, esse aqui não funciona sem assinatura! É beeem zuado! Tem opções grátis por aí

### 5/5 — Just Awesome and Fun

*2026-08-11*

A great way to brush up or to train your ear with challenging exercises, a must app for all!

### 2/5 — Overpriced

*2026-07-23*

The app seems okay and intuitive. But charging 24 Euros a month for some training lessons is absolutely crazy. I get photoshop for that amount. Somewhere between 5-10 Euros would be fine…

### 1/5 — Disgusting

*2026-07-21*

Gets you enticed in the product for 20 questions straight, Then boom. Paywall. Let me pay up front or make it free, this is horrid. If you’re going to make your product paid access, why go through the effort of falsely advertising yourself? This is so dishonest.

### 1/5 — Pay wall

*2026-07-19*

This is your classic pay wall scam app. If you would like to actually practice your aural skills search up tonedear, it’s free and it’s not gonna show you fake graphs to show you how much you’ve improved you just need to do that on your own 🤷‍♀️

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-07-19*

I don’t install sketchy, scammy apps that hide the cost and make you play 20 questions before you can even see the product. Didn’t even try it. And I’d definitely pay for a subscription like this otherwise. If your app is good, be honest. Why start out with a pile of BS. Can’t be trusted.

### 1/5 — Seems like it’d be great.

*2026-07-17*

If it weren’t 5 dollars PER WEEK. nah. you gotta change that to per month. that’s crazy work.

### 1/5 — It’s a trap

*2026-07-17*

One of those apps that ask you a long bunch of time wasting questions to then hit you with a pay wall so you can’t test it. Waste of time, rubbish!

### 5/5 — Phenomenal

*2026-07-11*

This is a GREAT way to get better results with Ear Training!

### 1/5 — Completely unusable.

*2026-07-02*

The app doesn’t open at all. Every time you try to use it, it crashes after 2 seconds.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 6.3.2 — 2026-08-15

Thanks for training with us! We made some performance improvements to keep your training smooth.

### 6.3 — 2026-08-12

Weekly leagues are here. Each week you're placed in a league of 30 players at your level, and the XP you earn from training decides who climbs. Look for the new Ranks tab. For our guitarist users, guitar chords now strum instead of hitting all at once.

### 6.2.1 — 2026-08-01

We slowed down chords, intervals, scales, and progressions just a touch so every note has room to breathe. Each sound is easier to catch on the first listen, especially in the faster drills.

### 6.2.0 — 2026-07-20

New lessons for descending intervals and real-world chord voicings, plus practice options to train both, slower and smoother audio playback, and clearer answer feedback right on the buttons. Also fixes a bug where "Is this a Minor chord?" questions could mark a correct answer wrong, and a freeze after wrong answers.

### 6.1.0 — 2026-07-18

More practice per round in daily sessions and lessons, a first session that gets straight to new material, plus fixes for a frozen replay button and comment posting.
