## What is PitchCompass?

See pitch as you hear it.

PitchCompass turns the notes you sing or play into a clear circular tuning display. The detected note, octave, cents, and frequency stay centered on the chromatic dial, while a precise marker shows where the pitch falls between notes.

Use PitchCompass to tune an instrument, practise vocal or instrumental intonation, train your ear, check sustained notes, or identify tones while transcribing.

Microphone audio is analyzed on your device. PitchCompass does not record or upload your audio, require an account, show ads, or use tracking.

PitchCompass 2 is a major update focused on more reliable tuning and a clearer musical interface.

• Rebuilt pitch detection for better fundamental-frequency and octave tracking
• New precise pitch marker, centered note/octave/cents/Hz readout, and improved handling of fading notes
• Preserved the familiar three harmonic rings from version 1
• Added a recent cents-history graph, with the version 1-style waveform still available in Settings
• Added a simple metronome with Tap Tempo
• Added a dedicated Settings screen for A4 reference, note names, display, appearance, and an experimental extended bass range
• Improved iPhone and iPad layouts in portrait and landscape
• Improved audio interruption, route-change, and microphone error handling
