Randomly stops recording 1 out of 3 rides, so 17mins into a 1hr ride it quits. No alerts, no sign it’s still following me around. No other apps on, DND set. I’d give it a 1 if it wasn’t for the fact that when it does bother to work it’s great. ### 1/5 — Bad horse tracking *2025-09-15, version 1.16.4* Doesn’t track the horse smoothly. Starts to jump left-right like if it doesn’t see the horse, but still keeps the horse in the view field. Worked great before but last times the videos were absolutely useful and hard to watch. Not sure why it happened, why it started to glitch so bad. It never fell, always carefully used, updated to the latest version. Btw the thing that says it can lock on a certain horse and track it regardless any others horses in the arena - doesn’t work at all too. Tried on IPhone XR and 14pro. ### 2/5 — Missed half my ride *2025-08-24, version 1.16.3* Super annoying to go to watch my video only to find that the Pivo spent half the time filming the wall. It seems to lose me and my horse when we get close to it. It’s so bad that now when I’m riding, instead of focusing on training, I’m constantly checking and looking to make sure it’s tracking me. Very frustrating as it’s supposed to be a training aid, and help, not be a detractor and source of frustration. ### 1/5 — Constant chronic issues *2025-05-08, version 1.15.0* My review is to mention that the PIVO tracking device is very unreliable. Three out of five times that I use it something goes wrong. The most current issue is that the movie I recorded won’t play. I have an iPhone 13 Pro. I spoke with an Apple advisor to help figure this problem out. We did several different things to resolve the problem. It was determined that while the movie is being filmed and or saved there are bugs happening in that process. Which actually makes a lot of sense. Phone is charged, Pivo is 99% — until they fix it, I would not recommend you waste the $250. ### 1/5 — doesn’t connect to ZOOM *2025-02-06, version 1.14.9* I got this for my virtual horse lessons, in order to connect to it with ZOOM you have to bring your ENTIRE computer out to the arena with you. They left this little detail out when I purchased this $300 device. When is this app gonna allow me to stream live to multiple platforms? ### 3/5 — Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. *2024-12-06, version 1.14.4* I like the Pivo if it actually worked all the time. Sometimes it shuts off. Sometimes it doesn’t track. Sometimes when we begin in tracks then stops in the middle of the lesson. Sometimes I can hear sometimes I cannot. My first Pivo worked great (until it didn’t) this one I have had nothing but trouble with. ### 2/5 — Echt schlecht die App *2024-12-01* Habe das Pivo Silver zum ersten mal benutzt… die App ist eine Katastrophe! Schlechteste App die ich je hatte. Download dauert unglaublich lange!!! Nach Anzeige des akkustands (20 %) wird das Video abgebrochen. Es muss definitiv was an der App geändert werden! ### 1/5 — Subscription scam *2024-11-21, version 1.14.3* Features that were free when I bought the device are now locked behind a subscription. Without a subscription, Lessons will time out, meaning you have to get off your horse and restart a new lesson if you want to continue longer than 1 hour. There was no time limit for lessons prior to this recent update. App is buggy; it often loses track my horse in corners of the arena meaning my trainer misses parts of my ride. I’ve had better luck using FaceTime. Horse people have enough monthly expenses, I do not recommend adding this one. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Poor tracking *2026-09-04, version 1.20.6* Tracking is really weak when more than 1 horse is in the ring. It takes the one in the front. Disappointed for that price. ### 1/5 — Consistently Unreliable *2026-08-04, version 1.20.5* As both a coach and a student, the only thing I can count on Pivo for is to be difficult. As a student, I’ve lost out on several lessons I paid for, spending the entire time trying to troubleshoot why it wasn’t working. And on the flip side as a coach I’ve lost countless hours dealing with tech issues that I reimburse my students for. For a paid subscription to work so incredibly badly and have zero tech support is abysmal. I requested a refund for my subscription this month after the last lesson failure, only to be told they would “give me a free month after the fix has been found”. Given that these issues have gone on for as long as I’ve been using Pivo, that’s about as empty a promise as one could possibly make. ### 1/5 — Bring back the old app *2026-06-23, version 1.20.2* Nothing but issues anymore. Ive used pivo for years and a year ago bought a new one and downloaded the new apps and I have YET to be able to actually video a ride. Glitchy af. Loses tracking, doesn't save, constant errors. ### 1/5 — Inoperable Horse Tracking *2026-05-29, version 1.20.1* The horse tracking doesn’t work at all. It won’t even lock on to one. I have to use the “pet” feature. So far none of my rides have been recorded because of how awful the tracking is. ### 1/5 — Poor Video Quality *2026-04-17, version 1.20.0* The Pivo does not track smoothly during lessons as advertised. Paid subscription does not help. This device and app are essentially useless for taking lessons. I am consistently the only horse in my ring and it still gets stuck on who knows what, tracking maybe 5% of my ride and in such a jolty way you’d think I was riding through an earth quake. Why not align the device with the remote? Then riders can pocket the remote and it’s so much more guaranteed to track appropriately. We just want our video . Don’t send an error message so we don’t get a video. Also when there is 20 percent battery left on the phone and the low battery message comes up the video is also stopped.
