## What is Pixel Blow Up?

Pixel Blow Up runs on one rule: nothing can be reached until it is open from outside the board. Everything else in this game follows from that.

Each level is a picture built out of food - a mushroom, a cookie, a slice of watermelon - laid out across the board as colored kegs. Tap a card and every keg of that color goes to work: a hard-hat crew races out and lights a fuse on each matching one. Clear the board and the picture takes its place on your shelf.

The difficulty is reach. A keg walled in on every side cannot be touched, so the rim has to be peeled first, and each color you clear opens the road to the next. Choose the wrong color early and the middle stays sealed.

ONE THUMB, NO DEXTERITY
Tapping a card is the entire control. No swiping, no dragging, no reflex test. Portrait, one-handed, and the crew does the work.

WHERE THE THINKING IS
- Three, four or five slots depending on the level, and a crew keeps its slot until it has cleared every keg it can reach.
- Three cards in hand with nine more showing behind them, so you can plan several moves ahead.
- A card wearing a sleep mark has nothing it can reach yet. Open a way in and it wakes up on its own.
- Fill every slot with crews that can no longer reach anything and you are stuck. Spend a recall to send one home and take the slot back, or restart the level. Clearing levels earns more recalls.
- Five minutes on the clock per level - it is a floor, not a difficulty; even the hardest levels leave real time to spare.

140 LEVELS, 108 PICTURES
Levels run from three colors up to six, and the later ones bury the easy openings. Nineteen pictures come back at a second or third difficulty, so clearing the easy cut of one is not the last you see of it. Every picture you finish takes its place on the shelf with your best time and your clear count under it. Fill the shelf far enough and upgrades open: quicker workers and crews that push out faster. Claiming an upgrade costs nothing - the number on the row is a threshold, never a price.

LEADERBOARD
Ranked by how many levels you have cleared, with a daily, a weekly and an all-time board. No sign-in - open it once and a name is picked for you, change it whenever you like.

A FEW ONE-TIME HELPS
Coins are earned only by clearing levels, never bought with real money, and they buy three one-time helps: see every card left in the deck, pull a reachable card to the front of your hand, or open one extra slot for the rest of the level. One use per help, per level.

WHAT IS NOT IN IT
- No ads.
- No in-app purchases.
- No account and no sign-in.
- No energy meter and no lives.
- Plays offline.

SETTINGS THAT MATTER
Colour-blind marks. Separate switches for sound effects, music and vibration. English, Simplified Chinese and Portuguese, picked up from your phone on first launch and changeable any time. One optional note a day, silent until you say yes.

The crew is waiting at the edge of the board.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.1 — 2026-09-25

A new look for six screens.

The victory card was rebuilt from the ground up. The three result panels are solid now instead of frosted glass, the "faster than N% of players" badge sits joined to them as one piece, your star rating is bigger, and the picture you just cleared carries its own glow around the edge rather than sitting on a glowing card. The prize line is one line now, led by a small picture of what you just won.

Asking for reminders stops asking twice. There used to be a card inside the game that asked whether you wanted one note a day, and then your phone asked you the same thing. That first card is gone. Your phone asks once, after you clear a level, and never when you open the game.

The leaderboard's top three now wear gold, silver and bronze across the whole row, and your own row is marked with a tag instead of a dot after your name.

The upgrade wall shows a crate on anything that still costs coins, so it is clear at a glance what you already own.

The first-run lesson points with a real hand.

The heads-up display during a level is tighter: the pause control is one button instead of two floating bars, and the speed and item buttons take a little less room.

New art for the demolition yard - the site and the castle were both redrawn, and the crew's door and standing spots were measured against the new picture.

### 1.4.0 — 2026-09-19

Almost every level has lost its clock.

Only the 5-star boards are timed now - 37 of the 140 - and each of those has its own limit instead of one flat five minutes. On the other 103 there is no timer on screen at all. Take as long as you want.

A new opening, and a new order.

Levels 1 to 9 are a hand-picked opening set, and the whole 140-level run has been re-ordered from the ground up: 136 of the 140 seats moved. The two or three cuts of the same picture no longer land a couple of levels apart - the closest pair is now 35 levels apart.

Free items on the way in.

Reach level 3 and two Extra crew are yours. Level 6 hands you two Jump the queue. No coins, nothing to buy - claim them and they drop straight into your item bar.

One speed button.

Tap it for 2x, tap again for 1x. Every level opens at 1x, and you have 20 free minutes of 2x to spend however you like across as many levels as you like; if you run out mid-level, that level still finishes at 2x. You can top the meter back up with coins later. When a level's deck runs out, the rest still fast-forwards on its own, free.

Visit other players.

Tap a name on the leaderboard and walk into that player's yard - their trophies, laid out in the order they earned them. Tap anything in it to leave a like. Your own likes are counted on your profile.

Your yard got bigger.

The layout now reaches the whole screen instead of leaving a strip of empty ground at the top, and there is room for 24 trophies instead of 20. Your crew grows as you clear levels, and the men now sometimes pair up, stand face to face and hop together instead of only wandering. Gold-ring trophies throw a spray of sparks when something disturbs them.

Also in this update:

• Both music tracks are new, and the loops are about twice as long, with no audible seam where they wrap around.
• Blocks on the board carry a proper shadow now, and the white specks that showed along their edges on some phones are gone.
• The daily reminder arrives at the hour you actually play, instead of a fixed 8pm.
• Tapping a trophy near the bottom of the yard works again - taps down there had been landing about a hundred pixels too high.
• A trophy can no longer end up hidden underneath the profile and cup buttons.
• Trophies on the porch no longer show placeholder artwork on a cold start.
• A fresh install no longer flashes the wrong background during the loading screen.
• Explosions and boards are much cheaper to draw, so the frame rate holds up better on older phones.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-09-10

The game is now Pixel Blow Up, and the demolition yard the name describes is the way in for everyone. Ant Haul - the mode the old name came from - is closed for this release; if you were playing it, your progress there is parked untouched and comes back whole the day that door opens again.

Also in this update:
- The porch answers a tap. Loot bounces in place, and a crew member is blown into the air on a real arc, lands, gets up and walks home.
- New thick-block artwork on the boards, with every keg showing its own side wall.
- The speed you play at sticks. The jump to 4x when the deck runs dry now becomes your setting - unless you have picked a speed yourself, in which case it is left alone.
- The win card no longer overlaps the PLAY button or the coin panel on smaller phones.
- A smoother frame rate on the porch, during a level and on the win card.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-09-09

Two new ways to play - Poke & Burst and Light Up - each with its own progress alongside the original Ants Haul. Levels grow from 40 to 140 across 108 pictures. A leaderboard ranks how many levels you have cleared. Plus a soundtrack, a five-minute level clock, and coin-bought one-time helps: peek the deck, pull a card forward, or add a slot.

### 1.0 — 2026-09-01

No release notes.
