## Most critical reviews (8 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Update sucks

*2024-11-13, version 4.0.5*

Since update the app is terrible, patterns glitch and colours are all wrong ( pick red you get blue )
I liked the basic interface its was much easier to customize.

### 1/5 — What happened to all of the pattern options?!

*2024-11-08*

There used to be a larger selection of premade patterns (e.g., sports teams, more holidays) and they are all gone with the latest update. What happened?!

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2023-11-14, version 2.7*

Sometimes it connects with the controller & majority of the time it doesn’t ! Developers fix your mess

### 3/5 — Latest update feels like a downgrade

*2024-12-07*

The previous version used to include a larger selection of premade patterns (e.g., sports teams, more holidays), the majority of which are gone with the latest update.

The latest update does allow some customization of premade patterns (e.g., speed, bulb spacing) but not the color or tone. This is unfortunate because the white used in the new candy cane pattern is so cool that it looks red and blue instead of white.

We’ve created a few custom patterns successfully. But more often than not, the new custom design is somehow applied to other existing custom patterns (undoing the previous work) or turns all lights white and/or crashes the app, disappearing the controller entirely.

There is an option to access the old patterns but it is significantly more buggy than before.

I’m hopeful the app will improve but in the meantime it is a big disappointment, especially during the holidays when we use our lights most. Very disappointing.

**Developer response:** Hello, we've since updated the app and fixed many bugs since your review. Do you mind emailing us at evan@pixellights.com with any new feedback?

### 5/5 — Not a Fan

*2025-10-25*

This app is useless and doesn’t really work. The premade designs are fine, but you can’t tweak them. If you create your own, and save it, it doesn’t save. Such a complete let down.

**Developer response:** Hi There! We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with the app. Make sure you are refreshing the home page when you create a new pattern. We have a new version releasing soon that may help with any of the issues. Please email evan@pixellights.com if you have any questions, thanks!

### 5/5 — Fantastic tech support

*2025-07-18, version 5.0.0*

I want to thank these awesome amazing people for their help and tech support. Great products and customer support. Thanks again for all your help.

### 5/5 — App Review: Pixel Lights

*2024-12-03*

Pixel Lights is an outstanding app that delivers on every front. The ease of use is impressive—everything is straightforward and self-explanatory, making it simple for users of all experience levels to navigate and enjoy.

What truly sets Pixel Lights apart is its exceptional customer service. The team is not only highly experienced but also incredibly responsive. Whether I had a question or needed assistance, their quick and helpful support made the experience seamless and enjoyable.

If you’re looking for an app that combines intuitive functionality with top-tier customer care, Pixel Lights is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — EASY to use permanent lighting app

*2024-04-17, version 3.4*

This app is super easy to use. I have the genuine Pixel Lights controller and lights and the app is flawless. The timer works great, the pre-programmed patterns are plentiful, and although I have only done a couple of “make my own” patterns, it is pretty intuitive.
With all of the regular updates, I’m surprised there isn’t a subscription.
I read another review about wifi issues - I got a new 5G/2.4G combined modem and I called internet provider and separated the signal, ran on 2.4G and zero issues since. I had to do this for my door bell, security cameras, and thermostats too, seems to be pretty standard protocol.
