## What is PixelPlay?

PixelPlay is a native iPhone and iPad player for IPTV streams. Bring your own M3U or Xtream playlist, or start from a free catalog of legal public channels. No ads. No tracking.

PixelPlay runs two playback engines. AVPlayer handles HLS, MPEG-TS and MP4, and when it refuses a stream, VLCKit takes it, so a source that stalls in one still plays in the other. Cast to a Chromecast device or AirPlay to an Apple TV. Pinch to switch between fit and fill. Background audio works the way iOS users expect.

  WHAT YOU GET FREE

  - Core playback for HLS, MPEG-TS, and MP4 streams
  - Pause and rewind live TV, or start the current program over
  - Catch-up: scroll back through a channel's guide and play what already aired, where your provider offers it
  - One content source of any type: M3U URL, M3U file, Xtream Codes API, or the free Public Catalog
  - Favorites and Recents
  - Spotlight search: channels you have played are indexed into iOS system search
  - Chromecast (Google Cast) and AirPlay
  - Optional Sign in with Apple or Google to sync favorites across devices
  - Pinch-to-zoom on the player (fit and fill)

  WHAT PIXELPLAY PRO ADDS

PixelPlay Pro unlocks everything below. Buy it once and keep it for good, or subscribe yearly if you would rather try it first.

  - Multi-View: watch up to 4 streams at once on iPhone or iPad
  - Picture-in-Picture: keep watching while you use another app
  - Channel Lock and Category Lock: secured by Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN
  - Advanced TV Guide: full EPG grid across time and channels
  - Unlimited content sources: separate playlists for sports, news, and kids

  PRIVACY

PixelPlay does not show ads and does not track you across apps or websites. The privacy manifest declares NSPrivacyTracking as false. Anonymous analytics and an optional email address you provide when signing in are the only data the app handles, and analytics is not linked to your identity. Your playlists and stream URLs stay on your device.

  DESIGNED FOR iOS

PixelPlay is built with SwiftUI, StoreKit 2, SwiftData, and AVKit. It is not a port of a cross-platform shell. That is why Spotlight search, Face ID locks, AirPlay, Picture-in-Picture, and native iOS gestures behave the way they do in Apple's own apps.

  PURCHASES, RESTORES, AND REFUNDS

Buy Pro once and it stays yours, with nothing to cancel. The yearly plan starts with a three-day free trial, then renews each year until you cancel it in Settings. Restore Purchase, on the paywall or in Settings, brings Pro back on any device signed in to the same Apple ID. Refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

IMPORTANT: WHAT PIXELPLAY IS AND IS NOT

PixelPlay is a media player. It does not provide, host, sell, resell, or rebroadcast any TV channels, films, or other media. Content is loaded from playlists and stream URLs that you
supply, or from the optional free Public Catalog of openly published legal streams. You are responsible for ensuring that the content you load is lawful in your region and that you have the right to view it. PixelPlay has no affiliation with the providers of any third-party playlist or stream.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.7 — 2026-09-04

Bug Fixes.
Performance improvements

### 1.1.6 — 2026-08-26

- Picture in Picture now has a button in the player. Before, the only way in was leaving the app.
- Screen Mirroring now fills the TV at its own resolution, and the controls stay on your phone.
- The player says what it is doing while it reconnects, instead of showing one spinner.
- The TV Guide opens on what is airing now, and short programs are big enough to tap.
- Category screens have a search field, and say how many channels are on screen. Before, a large category gave you every row and a scroll bar.
- The Home hero names the channel it is offering, at every text size.
- Browse has an A to Z index and section headers for long playlists.
- Channel logos load faster and Browse scrolls smoother.

### 1.1.5 — 2026-08-18

• A new look throughout: one accent colour, a real light mode, and type set in SF Pro.
• Buttons, labels and empty states are legible in both light and dark.
• Swipe the Home hero between featured channels, with a bar showing when it turns over.
• Channels whose logos have no colour no longer take a hero slot.
• PixelPlay catches a dead channel as it fails rather than after someone reports it.
• A channel that fails once stays in your list instead of disappearing.
• Fixed two ways a channel could stall instead of moving on to its backup source.
• Channels that played sound over a black screen now show the picture.
• The sleep timer runs to two hours, matching its own presets.
• In light mode, the guide preview card and its now-line match the real grid.
• The paywall asks for a PIN where it used to promise Face ID.
• Empty states and iPad onboarding sit centred instead of pinned to a corner.

### 1.1.4 — 2026-08-11

Reorder your favorites:
Drag favorites into the order you want on iPhone and iPad, and that order follows you to your other devices.

Filter the TV guide:
The guide can hold thousands of channels, so you can now narrow it by country, language, or category from the filter button, the way Browse already works.

A guide that is filled in when you open it:
The TV guide keeps its data between launches, so it opens populated instead of blank. Search it from the nav bar, swipe across days on one continuous timeline.

Multi-view pane recovery:
When the stream in one pane dies, you can retry it, change its channel, or close it without disturbing the others. Panes line up flush now, in landscape too.

Player fixes:
The mini player fills its frame instead of showing black bars. The seek toast moved out from under the notch. Minimizing is smoother, and relaunching resumes the channel you were watching.

Favorites and locks now save to iCloud. Before this, an edit could revert on the next launch.

### 1.1.3 — 2026-08-04
