## What is Placard?

Turn your iPhone or iPad into a sign people can actually see. Cheer at a concert, rate a meal, add a message to a video, meet someone at the station, or simply hold up what you want to say.

With Placard 2.1.0, you can:
• Find your go-to signs on the redesigned Home screen. Pin and reorder them, or browse and search the sign library.
• Show big text, a basic score, or standard scrolling text. Adjust orientation, mirror the display, and reveal a message with a countdown.
• Write your own sign, change its font and colors, and save it for next time.
• Keep several messages in one sign collection and swipe between them, or turn a score dial to choose a rating.
• Use Apple Watch to control a connected iPhone. Choose content privately for any sign type while the phone shows “?”, then reveal it immediately or after 3 or 5 seconds. Cancel a countdown, start the next round, and save your reveal preference. Exit remote control to continue on your phone.
• Cheer with static or scrolling LED dot-matrix signs.
• Optionally enable iCloud sync for your custom signs and Home settings across devices using the same iCloud account.

Basic big-text signs, basic score signs, standard scrolling text, and basic editing are free. Sign collections, score dials, LED displays, and iCloud sync are included with optional Lifetime Premium. It is a one-time purchase, with no subscription. Restore Purchases is available.

No account or ads. Your signs are stored on your device by default. If you enable iCloud sync, your custom signs and Home settings sync through your iCloud account.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 2.1.1 — 2026-10-07

This update makes signs and Watch controls easier to use:

• Choosing a different sign or collection item on Apple Watch now automatically returns the iPhone to the “?” waiting screen. Tap Reveal to show the new content, or Hide Card to hide the current result.
• Refined Watch buttons, selection indicators, and the remote-control demo for a more consistent experience.
• Fixed an issue where the original sign could reappear when swiping after editing a built-in sign.
• Fixed premium feature introductions that could become difficult to close after swiping into them. Closing an introduction returns you to your previous sign.
• Refined display toolbar icons and made marquee speed levels easier to read.

For Watch remote control, update Placard to 2.1.1 on both iPhone and Apple Watch.

### 2.1.0 — 2026-10-05

Placard 2.1.0 gives you more control over the reveal.

• Apple Watch remote now supports every sign type: choose a sign, message, or score on your wrist while iPhone shows “?”, then reveal it when you are ready.
• Reveal immediately or after a 3- or 5-second countdown. Your reveal preference is remembered, and you can cancel a countdown or start the next round.
• Redesigned Watch controls include a clear reconnect action. Exiting remote control keeps the revealed sign on screen and returns control to your phone.
• Updated in-app remote demos and instructions in all nine languages.
• Fixed sign rotation relative to the iPad window, including toolbar orientation and gesture state after window changes.

Update Placard on both iPhone and Apple Watch to use the new remote controls.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-02

Placard 2.0 makes it easier to say it your way.

• A redesigned home and library: find, search, pin, and reorder your go-to signs.
• Sign collections and score dials: keep several messages in one sign, swipe between them, or turn the dial to choose a rating.
• Apple Watch remote: switch signs on your iPhone and adjust orientation and countdowns from your wrist.
• More ways to make it yours: edit text, fonts, and colors, and cheer with static or scrolling LED displays.
• iCloud sync: enable syncing for your custom signs and home settings across devices using the same iCloud account.
• New usage guides and refinements to sign transitions, screen rotation, and dark appearance.

Basic text signs, score signs, standard scrolling text, and basic editing remain free. A one-time Lifetime Premium purchase unlocks LED displays, sign collections, score dials, and iCloud sync. No subscription. Restore Purchases is supported.

### 1.0.0 — 2026-06-10
