## What is PlacesXP?

PlacesXP is a map-based application that shows you what awesome attractions (places) are near you. There aren’t any annoying steps to get there, the app opens directly on the map near you. If you’re planning a trip, simply search or move the map there and see the relevant places in that area. It’s Google Maps-based, not rocket science. 

Places on the map start out black and white. You can tap them to learn a little more about the place or navigate to it. Once you’ve been there, feel free to mark it on the card to see a fun little celebration as the card gains a bunch of colour. This way, you can always see where you’ve been and when. 

Your profile page will show you your achievements, with a count for how many countries you’ve been to, how many cards you have, and so on. You also have a timeline for where you’ve been and when, to give you the full historical view. 

PlacesXP is fully free and will not cost you a thing to use. There are no in-app purchases, no ads, and none of your personal information is sold. In fact, we try to keep as little of your information as possible, keeping only an email for login purposes (which is never shared) and grabbing your location when you use the map feature. Feel free to choose any name you want (it doesn’t have to be your real name). 

It’s early days for us, so expect a few bugs and slow loads. In the near future, we will be adding all sorts of fun features like creating your own sets, marking places you’ve been to more than once, local events that take place in those places, and social features, to name a few. 

It’s fun, it's free, and it’s safe. What more can you ask for?
