However, as a science teacher in England, it takes a long time to put together the units. I have multiple classes doing the same thing, but have to set them up separately. Desperately hoping this can change in the near future. I’ve tried restarting the app three or four times and I get the same result. ### 1/5 — Loved this app but it ruined me *2023-08-15, version 2.30.5* I was in love with this app. I put in all my classes and my whole very detailed schedule and did it all on my new iPad. Went to sign in on my phone but it wouldn’t show any of my classes or templates so I signed out on my iPad to try it on there and when I signed back in, everything was gone. That was so much work. And I loved the way the app was working but now I don’t even feel like it’s worth it putting all my information back in if it can just disappear that quickly. Very disappointed. ### 3/5 — Good, but…. *2023-07-10, version 2.30.5* I really like this and have used it for several years, even encouraging several staff members to join. The free version is excellent but recently restarted using Chalk Gold. One of the main reasons for doing this was that it linked my timetable to Google Calendar and any changes I made to my timetable would automatically sync to my calendar. All was great for a while and then, all of a sudden, I could not get my calendar to sync up after making some changes. I tried deleting the link and resetting it but all to no avail. The Help section used to be quite effective but since becoming part of Power Schools I find the whole forum section difficult to find what I am looking for to help deal with this problem. If I cannot get it solved in the next few weeks I will be cancelling Chalk Gold and going back to the free version. It is also disappointing that since being taken over they have now decided to remove the assessment section for recording homework and test results, etc. ### 1/5 — Umm bug ? *2023-06-05, version 2.30.5* I was trying to create an account but it didn’t give me the option it was just saying account not found there were no places that I could have clicked to change it ### 2/5 — Seems great but can’t get past set-up *2023-03-29, version 2.30.3* I’m using the iOS app and when it takes me to the screen where I need to add my classes it just gets stuck there. There’s a little plus button I’m supposed to press but when I do nothing happens. There are no other buttons I can press from that screen, so I tried closing the app and restarting it. Other options in the menu worked, but when I went to my schedule/plans I couldn’t do anything because I have no classes. I went back to the classes and the screen got stuck there again. Frustrating because the support website wouldn’t let me connect to chat, and when I called the number I was supposed to select what I was calling about. It gave me more than 10 different program options, none of which were Planboard. And I have no way of knowing which is the correct one that is associated with it! ### 2/5 — Difficult log on. Glad I didn’t pay anything for this! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Good app; no updates or way to communicate *2026-02-26, version 2.30.5* Plan board is a good app for teachers and it has a lot of positives, but when there is a glitch there is no easy way to communicate or send an email to Planboard to let them know. Very frustrating. ### 1/5 — Glitch *2026-02-24, version 2.30.5* There seems to be a glitch on the app where it is no longer showing what day on the schedule it is. It is located on the bottom left hand side when in the planner view. It only shows “chalk.rotation.day_number”, instead of “day 1, day 2, etc…”. For example, when the school changes my prep times or the speech schedule changes, I can easily move things around by changing the times. ### 5/5 — The Best Teacher Planner App Out There! *2026-02-25, version 2.30.5* Started using this three years ago, game changer - link all lessons in to MS SharePoint, easily share plans with other staff, change an amend between devices, helpful widget on my work iPad screen, use standards to organise curriculum and map out curriculum standards, as a HOD it goes beyond a simple teacher planner. Now all staff in my department use this. This app has genuinely changed the way I work as a teacher, and saved me some time. ### 5/5 — Beat free tool out there. *2025-09-05, version 2.30.5* I have been using this app for 10 years. I can carry over lessons, schedules, whole units from year to Year. I can love things around easily and set a reminder for any upcoming date in the year. My school previously had a three-day rotating schedule and this app helped me manage the schedule with ease. When our school schedule changed, it was easy to make the new one. I also love that I can reuse lesson plans super easily from year to year. An improvement I would suggest is for the mobile app to be able to access the unit description pages. Sometimes I have a note/idea I would like to leave myself for a lesson, and if I'm at a computer to access the web version, I will put ideas in the unit planning space. The mobile app doesn't have this option. Small fix, but would be great!
