## What is Planeology?

Ever looked out of an airplane window and wondered what keeps it up there? Planeology turns that curiosity into real aviation knowledge, a few minutes at a time.

Start with how a wing makes lift, what the engines are doing and why airliners cruise so high. Then travel through more than two centuries of flight, from the first balloons and the Wright brothers to the jet age, Concorde, the SR-71 Blackbird, and the electric air taxis and quiet supersonic jets being built today.

HOW IT WORKS
• Each lesson is four short, illustrated cards, plus a "Did you know?" fact
• A five-question quiz follows every lesson, and every answer comes with a one-line explanation
• Score 80% or more to pass, unlock the next lesson and park a new aircraft in your Hangar
• Climb seven ranks, from Passenger to Aviation Legend, as your lessons add up

WHAT'S INSIDE
• 55 lessons in 15 groups, with 220 illustrated cards
• 275 quiz questions, each with the why behind the answer
• Daily Departure: five questions in 60 seconds, the same set for everyone each day, with a boarding-pass card to share your score
• Your Hangar: 56 aircraft fact cards in four tiers, Standard to Legendary, from the Cessna 172 and the Spitfire to the Boeing 747, Concorde and the Airbus A380, each with its role, its power and the sources behind it
• Streaks, a streak freeze that covers a missed day, and an optional daily reminder

THE 15 LESSON GROUPS
How flight works · Anatomy of an airplane · Engines and propulsion · In the cockpit · Airports and air traffic control · Navigation and weather · Pioneers of flight · Early air power · World War II in the air · The jet age · Airliners and airlines · Speed and altitude legends · Military aviation · Safety and lessons learned · Modern and future flight

YOU'LL FIND OUT
• Why a stall has nothing to do with the engine
• What the big numbers painted on a runway mean
• Why some three-letter airport codes make no sense
• Why it's Alfa, Bravo, Charlie on the radio, and three is tree
• How a helicopter flies, and what its tail rotor is for
• Why the flight recorders called black boxes are orange
• How a giant water tank uncovered metal fatigue in the first jet airliner

CHECKED FACTS, NAMED SOURCES
Every number, date and record in the lessons is checked against official sources, such as FAA handbooks, NASA's aeronautics guides and national air and space museums, and each lesson lists its sources. Where good sources disagree, the lesson says so.

MADE FOR ENTHUSIASTS
Planeology is for anyone who loves airplanes: frequent flyers, plane spotters, history fans and parents with curious kids. It is not flight training, and it is not affiliated with any airline or aircraft manufacturer.

BOARDING PASS
A Boarding Pass is needed to use Planeology. It opens every lesson, quiz and aircraft, and comes as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. The yearly plan includes a free trial for new subscribers, and its length is shown before you subscribe. During the trial the first five of the 15 lesson groups are open, and the rest unlock when the trial ends and your subscription begins. If you allow notifications, Planeology reminds you the day before the trial ends.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews.
