## What is Planet?

Planet is a small, private app for sharing what you're doing with the people you actually do things with — a partner, a parent, a handful of friends.

Every post is a place: a dinner you're cooking, a hike on Saturday, a coffee that just opened nearby. Add a few invitees, mark it as "want company" or "just so you know," and the people on your list see it. That's it.

What's inside

— Post events with a title, time, location, and a short note. They land in your friends' feeds, not on a public timeline.
— RSVP "going," "maybe," or "can't," and see who else is in.
— Chat per event — a single thread tied to the plan so the messages don't get lost in another app.
— Shared docs for trip-planning details (packing lists, addresses, who's bringing what).
— Calendar export so the event slots into Apple Calendar with one tap.
— Push notifications when someone invites you, edits a plan, RSVPs, or sends a message.

What's not inside

— No public profiles. No discovery. No "people you may know."
— No follower counts, no likes, no algorithm.
— No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no third-party trackers.

Sign-in is by SMS magic link — no passwords. Access is by invitation: every account exists because an existing user added your phone number to their friend list.

Planet is operated by one person as a hobby project. It is not a company and not a paid service. If something breaks, email the address on weregoing.app/privacy and a human will reply.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.15 — 2026-07-24

- Fixed docs edit

### 1.0.13 — 2026-07-18

This update makes notifications far more useful:

• Tap any notification to open exactly the right place — a chat message opens that event's chat, an event alert opens the event, and a new-friend alert opens your friends list.
• When something arrives while you're using the app, a banner now slides in at the top. Tap it to jump straight there.
• Notification banners are specific now: a chat message shows the event name and who sent it, and event alerts tell you what changed (new date, canceled, updated) instead of a blank "planet" banner.
• Chat and your feed refresh the moment you tap a notification — no pull-to-refresh needed.
• You can now edit an event that doesn't have a date yet — change its title, location, description, and guest list while people are still voting on dates.
• Remove a proposed date you no longer want.
• Event notes now open reliably on events that don't have a date set.

Also new:
• Tap an event's location to copy it to your clipboard. Locations that are links still open on tap.

Fixes:
• Fixed a crash when adding a friend from your contacts on Android.
• Fixed a rare bug that could discard your note text when saving.
• Fixed a friend's number showing a doubled "+1 +1" when added from contacts.
• Fixed being unable to delete area-code digits in the add-friend phone field.
• The chat box and the doc formatting toolbar no longer hide behind the keyboard on Android.
• Event tabs, navigation, and the new-event screen no longer show cut-off labels at large Android font sizes.
• The formatting toolbar now stays pinned above the keyboard while you write.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-07-11

- improved in app, banner, and background notifications
- fixed keyboard overlay issue with input fields

### 1.0.7 — 2026-07-07

- Change an event's visibility both ways from the edit screen. Open an invite-only event up to all your friends, or lock an open event back to invite-only (which freezes the guest list to everyone who's already responded, so you can see who's coming, who's not, and who hasn't answered).
- Say "I'm out" on any event. Tap it directly so hosts can tell who declined apart from who just hasn't seen it yet.
- Events now stay marked in-progress in the feed until they actually end — or through the rest of the day when there's no end time.
- Removing a friend you added by phone who never joined no longer leaves them stuck as a pending contact.
- Fixed the friend picker's "select all" toggle.
- Fixed a bug where editing an event and tapping Save did nothing because the button stayed disabled.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-07-03

- Removed FYI events in favor of "open" type
- Created "invite-only" type events
