Only free up to 20 plants…

I’m sure this is a great plant care/tracker/ID app, but just know that you can only track 20 plants for free (it’s $79.99/year to track more). The dev needs to be upfront about this ON THE APP PAGE. I spent multiple hours inputting 66 (YES, SIXTY-SIX) plants and their info, only to get an IN-APP pop up, on my third day with it, about the 20 plant limit. Way too many hours wasted setting up an app I can’t afford…

I’m sorry. I understand your frustration. I need to make it more clear. Thank you for your feedback 🙏

Great

Never wrote an app review but I think it’s great, very useful, and found it because if I recall correctly the owner was promoting it on a certain post.

Regardless I’m no pro, recently only getting into houseplants. But this made things 1000x easier than a google doc. It’s great and I like that it’s free, at least for now that I have 10 plants. If I recall you have to pay after a certain amount

Great plant care app

Nice and simple and not overly bloated like the other plant apps.

Helps you keep track of all your plant admin and just works.

Highly recommended.

Love the photo gallery feature

I LOVE the photo feature and how it chronologically sorts the pics! I finally have a proper place where I can see my plant growth progress :D

Simple and fast compared to others

This app keeps things simple in a good way. It lets you organize and log what you need without a bunch of forced features or overcomplicated “AI” rules that get in the way. (Other apps try to do too much and end up making basic tasks harder—this one actually lets you stay in control and move quickly.)

It does feel a bit newer, so the plant database (especially photos and accuracy) could be more robust - I expect it will get there over time. That said, one standout feature is how it handles plant names—it recognizes a wide range of common and colloquial names, which makes searching much easier than in other apps.

FAQ

What does the Ploi app do?

Ploi is a plant care application that helps users track watering schedules by learning their watering habits. It also functions as a plant journal, allowing users to log plant life events, document growth progress with photos, and access free plant identification and care guides.

How does the watering reminder feature work?

Instead of providing fixed watering schedules, the app learns your watering patterns. You mark plants as watered, and the app uses this information to create a personalized schedule for each plant, ensuring you water them appropriately based on your input.

Is the plant identification feature free?

Yes, the plant identification feature is free. You can take a picture of a flower or plant you cannot identify and upload it to the app. Within seconds, the app will provide you with the plant's name and species.

What kind of information can I log in the plant journal?

The plant journal allows you to log various aspects of your plant's life, such as when you watered it, when it started to bloom, and any other significant changes or observations. You can also document its growth progress by taking photos at different stages.

What platforms is Ploi available on?

Ploi is available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. It also offers widgets for these platforms, allowing for convenient access to plant care information and reminders directly from your home screen.
