Clearer Sync Status ◆ If iCloud can't start, Plantfolio keeps working with your data on device, and Settings shows sync as temporarily unavailable instead of leaving you guessing. Smoother on iPad and Mac ◆ Buttons and controls now lift gently under the pointer, so the whole app feels more responsive with a trackpad or mouse. Better Mac Menus ◆ New Window (⌥⌘N) and Close Window (⇧⌘W) join the menu bar, and ⌘N, ⌘F, and ⌘W now always trigger Plantfolio's New Plant, Find, and Close commands. Share Cards in Dark Mode ◆ Shared plant cards now always use their bright, light design, even when your device is in Dark Mode. Reliability ◆ Faster first launch after setup, smarter free-space checks when saving photos, and small fixes throughout. ### 2.1 — 2026-07-16 Plant Placement ◆ Record whether each plant is potted, in the ground, or in a raised bed. AI identification can detect it from photos, watering suggestions account for rainfall exposure, and you can filter and sort your plants by placement. Weather That Follows Your Plants ◆ If a plant moves to a new location, past calendar days keep the weather observed at the previous spot while new days use the new one. Check-In Reminders ◆ Been away a while? Plantfolio now sends up to three gentle check-in reminders at 30, 60, and 90 days. Smoother and Faster ◆ Watering from the calendar month view is smoother, photos load faster throughout the app, and archived plants are easier to spot in collections. Reliability ◆ iCloud sync now also cleans up duplicate care history entries, and moving a plant out of a collection makes clear that no data is deleted. ### 2.0 — 2026-06-08 Grid and List Layouts ◆ Switch Plants and Sightings between a list and a photo grid from the sort menu. Full-Screen Photo Grid ◆ Open all of a plant's or sighting's photos in a full-screen grid, then tap any photo to view it full screen and swipe between them. Swipe to Navigate ◆ Swipe between the Calendar and Sightings sub-tabs, and page through calendar months with a swipe. New Gemini Model ◆ Gemini 3.5 Flash is now available to choose. New installs stay on Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite by default; if you've chosen a custom model, your choice stays unchanged. Reliability ◆ Archived plants now appear in watering history, with their actions disabled. ### 1.9 — 2026-05-18 Weather on Your Calendar ◆ See daily conditions and high/low temperatures right in the calendar. Opt in from Settings, set your plant location, and forecasts plus history are cached on device and synced across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Smarter Plant Location ◆ A new location picker replaces the old plain-text field. Pick from your current location, search by name, or type your own. Your choice syncs through iCloud so every device stays in step. Calendar Widget Refresh ◆ The widget's today indicator is now a clean bold green date instead of a filled circle, making the rest of the month easier to scan at a glance. Mac Import & Export ◆ Mac Catalyst now uses the standard Save dialog for exports and respects the file you pick for import, so both flows work properly under the Mac sandbox. Reliability ◆ The Gemini AI model selector now auto-recovers when a preview model is retired by Google, so you're never stuck behind a manual Settings change. ◆ Faster calendar startup. ### 1.8 — 2026-04-12 Traditional Chinese ◆ Plantfolio is now available in Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) — switch in Settings → Language. All in-app text is translated. Richer Plant Details ◆ Common plants now include native origin, growth rate, and propagation methods — visible in plant details and AI identification. 80 new plants added to the bundle (now 952 in total). iPad Keyboard Shortcuts ◆ Switch tabs with ⌘1–⌘4, create a new plant with ⌘N, and jump to search with ⌘F. (Mac already has the same shortcuts in the menu bar.) Photo & Sync Fixes ◆ Fixed a CloudKit edge case that could drop photo bytes after download. ◆ Collection start date now anchors to the earliest photo across members.
