Doesn’t know how to fix them so the bugs persist, or 2. Too busy / lazy and ignored them. Oh and also, it takes forever to synchorize information. ### 4/5 — Better if Mac/Ipad App too *2025-02-10, version 5.0.0* It's a great service and works pretty well. The categories are 60% wrong so I have to manually change most. It would be great if the team could develop most importantly a Mac/Desktop App/Software since we're paying for it and maybe an Ipad one too. ### 3/5 — Good app but a lot to improve *2025-01-14, version 5.0.0* Filters are not working correctly, when I want to exclude one item from many, it didn’t work properly. No “select all” option to easy unselect one from many categories. Also need filters on “Analyse your expense”. ### 4/5 — Excellent *2024-07-22, version 4.3.0* Just an excellent app. I’ve tried many apps of this category but Planto is the only one that is tailored for the Hong Kong market and has the most coverage, integrating bank accounts, Octopus, MPF, and more. That said, syncing can be pretty slow (understandable). Transactions on the Octopus card are in sync with the Octopus app, which has a lag of 1-2 days, which is annoying but not a dealbreaker. Some buttons on the UI can be less responsive than others. I’d also like to see the option to count positive cash flow as a “reverse expense” so they get subtracted from a spending category - in the case of splitting an expense with friends. ### 3/5 — A so-so app *2023-05-22, version 3.3.0* I expect it can updated and auto sync with my accounts time to time but no, I have to manually click sync and wait for few mins for each account. So I have to spend more then half an hour to to update all my accounts, and another half an hour to manage my bills, as the category provided is not accurate. Good if you have time but not for me. ### 4/5 — Great tool *2022-09-06, version 2.13.0* I’ve been using this for over a year now, I really like that I get notified of any transactions immediately, such as annual fee from credit cards. However in the past six months or so, I cannot teacher to save certain transactions into specific categories like it used to- which is quite annoying considering it’s a simple function. Please fix!! Also, please support virtual banks, which would be highly appreciated! ### 3/5 — Virtual Bank is not available *2022-01-18, version 2.13.0* Pls provide some enhancements All virtual bank cannot be found, e.g. ZA Bank, Livi Bank, Welab Bank, etc. I’ve deleted the app already… cos i can’t get a full picture of my financial status as I use virtual bank(debit account) for daily expenses ### 3/5 — The app is good but… *2021-10-25, version 2.12.0* Every time after the apps get updated, I find the category of my previous expenses has been changed to default settings, not the one I chose, and I forgot what it is. It’s a number and I think it’s Planto who sold my number out. ### 4/5 — Financial Management? *2019-12-13, version 1.47.0* This is no doubt a good app to see how I’ve spent my hard earned money, but it doesn’t fully allow me to manage my finances without the ability to budget and plan for the future. The number of financial institutions that can connect is growing which is good to have an overview of my total assets. However, until a major update is available where I can add in a budget, plan my spendings for the months ahead, this will not be an app that I will be using as a main finance manager. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Why was my previous comment removed? *2025-11-15, version 5.5.0* As said, and mentioned by other users, their Technical Support team doesn’t do anything. No responses from them, not checking WhatsApp messages, also no further updates/fixes for the app. I don’t think they are maintaining this app anymore… to be honest, am not even sure if it is still safe to provide the login credentials in this app… ### 1/5 — Unable to send messages to technical support *2024-02-22, version 3.6.0* Some of my transactions were not downloaded and some of the same transaction of certain accounts have been downloaded 2-6 times. I have been unable to contact technical support or send messages to fix the issue. It almost seems the “send” button for message to technical support has been disabled. It’s very frustrating to see the stats are wrong because transactions have been repeated / missed. Suggest leaving an email contact and fixing the issue of not being able to send message to technical support. ### 1/5 — Cannot connect to virtual bank *2022-12-02, version 3.3.0* Planto does not have the option to link with any virtual bank. When I asked the technical support online but there was no reply nor even acknowledgement for 2 days already. Provided with the lack of support and sluggish updates to catch up with the trend of virtual banking, I already cancelled the future subscription and I don’t recommend anyone to use it. ### 1/5 — Refreshing account takes FOREVER *2021-12-02, version 2.13.0* I was using the trial version for a week and i already deleted my account. I didnt link up a ton of accounts, but it already took a long time to refresh everything. Not even mentioning that i have to click “refresh” by hand every time. My bank account unlinked one day without any notice, which gave me a mini heart attack seeing my net worth dropped to zero. I do not recommend this app for financial planning, you can do it through an excel sheet and it is so much easier to take care of. Oh btw, the logo misplaced on the welcome page of the app annoys me so much.. i cant take it. This app is just not well developed. Not nice. ### 1/5 — DO NOT get this app. This app gives wrong calculations and affects my actual accounts *2019-08-27, version 1.36.0* I downloaded this app to manage my finances better. But to my horror it gives wrong calculations and its wrong calculations affected my real accounts. I was checking Planto to see how much I should pay for my credit card bill and I see I owed the bank around 4K. The figure didn't seem right to me so I checked my ebanking app as well. My ebanking app also showed that I owed 4K. I doubted the amount so I checked my credit card statement. I added up all my spending by hand to only about 2K. I was about to call my bank to check for irregularities, but then realised this strange phenomenon only happened after I downloaded Planto. I immediately deleted my accounts on Planto and deleted the app. Then I checked my ebanking app to find that the amount I owed dropped back to 2K, which is the amount I calculated. This means that not only Planto make wrong calculations, once you give them permission to your accounts it can alter the ACTUAL numbers in your real accounts. This is horrifying. This could’ve made me pay double the amount I was supposed to, and I’m not even sure where that money would go since there is no way to trace it. I sincerely hope that it is only a glitch and not a scam. Thankfully I figured it out early on. ### 1/5 — The app crash, cannot use *2019-07-31* This update makes the app cannot open and it crashes once I open it. I have never encountered this issue before and this is quite concerning ### 2/5 — Absence of “net-off” categories & bugs *2022-08-05, version 2.13.0* Think the functions are pretty good. But currently there is no “net” concept in the expenses/income. For example, if you go to a dinner with friends and you pay the $2000 bill with your credit card and collect $1800 back from your friends in PayMe, you need to do manual splitting in the $2000 transaction and click ignore for all the incoming transfers from friends. Similarly, if you have a refund on credit card membership fee or a good you purchase, you prefer to put that linked with the relevant expense to net them off, instead of remembering which transactions are linked and manually click ignore for them. Also, I have a bank account that can only get transactions of the past 1 month sync-ed. another credit card can only sync for the past 2 months, which is slightly annoying. You don’t expect this if you pay a monthly subscription fee. ### 2/5 — Not enough done to allay security fears *2022-03-30, version 2.13.0* Web scraping over building a legitimate channel with your financial partners seems likes a very unsustainable business model given the regulatory risks and no guarantee your tech will work in the future For broker level permissions it is even more cryptic, why should your application EVER have the right to send instructions to brokers on our behalf as specifically mentioned in the IB disclaimers? We have to just hope that you don't go away with our financial information or make false trades on our behalf? ### 2/5 — Improvements needed *2022-01-07, version 2.13.0* I’ve been using this app for a few days and wanted to take the time to share some feedback to Planto. Cons: - Poor technical support / customer service (waiting for 3 days, still haven’t heard back) - Expenses don’t update even after account refreshes (my expenses are stuck on Jan 3) - Account refreshes take a long time (several minutes) Pros: - Good UX (app looks nice and is relatively easy to use) - Good functionality - Security and privacy standards clearly explained Based on the above, I may continue to use the app if it is free but would not pay the monthly fee for continued access. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Good apps and waiting for Improvement!! *2022-10-13, version 3.3.0* It is convenient that this apps can automatically refresh the status of each accounts and we don’t need to spend time to update it manually!! I’m looking forward to seeing the latest update: Octopus’s Balance and PayMe’s Balance synchronisation.
