## What is PlantRx?

PlantRx tells you what a plant is, how it is doing, and what to do next.

Photograph any plant and you get three things in one reading: a species identification, a health score out of 100, and a care guide written for that exact plant. Where something is wrong, PlantRx names the problem, shows you what it spotted in your photo, and gives you a fix you can act on today.

IDENTIFY SIX THINGS, NOT ONE
Plants and trees go through Pl@ntNet's recognition engine with iNaturalist reference data. Weeds, insects, birds and mushrooms each get their own mode, because a bark-and-canopy shot of a tree and a close-up of a beetle are not the same recognition problem. Add up to four angles when one photo is ambiguous, and see how confident the match is instead of a number that hides itself.

READ THE PLANT'S HEALTH
Every scan includes a health check: a score out of 100, what looks wrong, the likely cause — from overwatering to pests — and a fix. Assessed by AI, shown with the evidence, so you can judge it rather than take it on faith.

CARE BY NUMBERS, NOT ADJECTIVES
Light in lux, watering intervals in days, soil type, humidity range, temperature range and feeding schedule — read for the species you actually photographed, not generic houseplant advice.

THREE TOXICITY VERDICTS
People, dogs and cats are answered separately, because the answer is often not the same. Every result says what the risk is if the plant is eaten.

YOUR GARDEN, ON EVERY DEVICE
Save a plant and PlantRx builds a care agenda: watering, misting, feeding, rotating and repotting reminders, adjusted by your local weather forecast. Your garden, scans, journal and wishlist sync to your account, so they follow you to any phone or tablet.

TOOLS FOR WHAT A PHOTO CANNOT ANSWER
A stem counter for multi-trunk trees, a ring counter for cut stumps, a water calculator for how much to pour rather than how often, and a repotting checker.

ASK A BOTANIST
Ask follow-up questions about your specific plant and get an answer in context, powered by AI.

WHAT IT COSTS
Two days of full access with no card and no charge. After that, PlantRx Premium is $9.99 a year. No ads at any point, and nothing is sold to advertisers.

HONEST LIMITS
Identification photos are processed securely and are not stored on our servers. Full-resolution photos stay on your device; only small thumbnails sync with your garden. AI guidance is for personal gardening — use your own judgement for anything serious, and never eat a wild mushroom on the strength of an app identification.

### 5/5 — Works well

*2026-09-05*

Works as intended, has history and everything you’d expect, pretty good app overall. Like it more than the other identifiers because of things like the plant memory or achievements. Peace.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.7.0 — 2026-09-21

• PlantRx now marks the plant it identified, right on your photo. Point it at a weed in a lawn or one mushroom in a clump and you can see which one the answer is about, instead of taking our word for it.
• The same marker works for insects, birds, mushrooms and weeds — the cases where the thing you care about is small and the frame is busy.
• Tap the photo to hide the marker whenever you want a clean look at your own picture.
• When we can't tell which one you meant, we say nothing rather than guessing — you just get your photo, unmarked.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-09-12

• Where it grows: plant results now show the plant's wild range on a map, and whether it's native where you are.
• Weed ID says if the plant is native to your country before suggesting how to remove it.
• Send feedback or report a bug from Profile — it still sends if you wrote it offline.
• Fixed: a toxic plant could show a pet-safe badge in your garden.
• Fixed: moisture-loving plants got watering reminders far too far apart.
• Fixed: "Easy care" was hiding most easy plants.
• Widgets no longer count tasks overdue while care is paused.
• Insect, bird, mushroom and weed results now say plainly when an identification is only a best guess.
• Fixed a sign-up problem that could leave a new account without its profile saved.
• Fixed account deletion failing part-way through on some accounts.
• Settings now shows how much space your stored scans use.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-09-08

Location, fixed and better timed

• Turning on location from Settings now works. The "Open device settings" button also lands on the right page instead of the notification settings.
• PlantRx now asks about location while your scan is running, so the care advice that comes back can be written for your local weather rather than in general.

Signing in

• What you have typed carries across when you switch between Sign in and Create account, so nothing has to be retyped.
• A failed sign-in now offers to create an account with that same email.
• The name you choose when you sign up appears straight away instead of after a sign-out.

Also fixed

• A problem that could stop account deletion from completing.
