Not only do I use it to identify mysterious plants, but I can immediately see a profile that tells all about the plant’s specific requirements and where it will thrive! PlantTagg reminds me of tasks that must be accomplished to ensure the health of each plant in my yard and exactly when I need to do them. Additionally, PlantTagg allows me to search creative garden design plans for inspiration, and there are blogs written by other experienced gardeners to share their expertise. Once you use PlantTagg, you’ll wonder what you ever did without it! Once I got the areas of my yard set up with all the various varieties of plants, I was notified each time I needed to prune or fertilize. The “ASK AN EXPERT” feature came in handy too when I had a few issues. As I continue to add to my landscape the “SUGGESTED PLANTS” is very helpful along with the plant identifier (take a pic and it tells you the plant). I have used the landscape feature to create a garden by my mailbox and a small shade garden. The design app was great in determine the amount of soil and mulch we would need and then we could switch out different plants. PlantTAGG is able to identify so many plants including weeds which has helped me in my woodland yard zone. I love the thrive score feature which has been instrumental in my garden selections. The thrive score rates the potential success of a plant in a certain yard zone based on sun, water, climate, etc. While I can adjust the water for the plants to thrive, the feature helps me determine if the plant is a right fit in my yard or a particular zone of my yard. I also make sure that I check the plant details which includes if a plant is toxic to dogs. As a beginner gardener, PlantTAGG has been a great app in helping me make educated garden decisions. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App is broken *2026-01-11* I installed the app and did all the prelim work to set up my planting area. But when I started adding plants, the app stopped working. I could only add 1 plant. I’ve watched the how to vid, restarted the app. This app is a waste of time. ### 2/5 — Keeps crashing! *2024-06-27, version 3.0.4* Every time I get to open this app it says I have to subscribe (which I already have paid for the year). When i close the message it closes the app. I can’t even use it so just wanted 17.99. For example, the data inputs for zones is easy. There are a few suggestions for the developers: 1) fix the glitch when uploading zone photos (have received multiple errors) and 2) the filter for plant search should allow multiple categories AND does not reset when you go back after selecting a particular plant from the list. ### 4/5 — Great App Support *2026-01-14, version 4.1.1* I contacted support about being unable to add new plants to a new plant zone. The function didn’t work. They took my concern seriously, reported back that they replicated the issue, then fixed it! No robo answer telling me to restart the app or giving me a generic list of things to try that I already tried. Very descriptive and full of information. ### 5/5 — Full Function, Easy and Fun *2026-04-03, version 4.1.1* I’m in the backyard today with the kids and we’re “PlantTagging” all the weeds before we mow. We are finding wildflowers, medicinal plants, stray garden plants, and some dandelions to make wine. This is a free app that does a thorough job of identifying and explaining the plants that I photograph. I choose pictures from the photo gallery, or just snap a picture on my camera, and follow the app prompts. I haven’t found a better app for identifying plants.
