The number of scales is too low, it would be great if we could create and save our own custom scales at least ! It would be very usefull as well to be able to sync the tempo with an external midi clock and have some quantize options… Keep Up the good work and thanks for this allready cool app ! My teacher showed us videos of trees in Costa Rica that ended up Over time syncing together to create a symphony of tones and it blew my mind! I knew then I must have one. I have always talked to trees, ever since I was little and I always felt the energy of plants had so much to teach us if we would Listen . Now, to be able to listen, is just phenomenal. From my houseplants, to the trees and flowers in my yard, to the banyans and tropical plants I discover while traveling, I can’t choose a favorite as they all have such diversity! I love how small it is! It’s incredibly easy to travel with and I’m just starting to dive Into the world of plant music creation! It’s a great sound for meditation and deep listening and relaxation. One of the sound options even seemed to give a dance beat! It will take a while for us to explore the many additional features and functions that the app makes available when combined with the new Plant Wave device. Plays your fingers too *2022-05-24, version 0.7* Am definitely for anything that connects us to nature and the reps are quite nice. They do communicate well & am sure are overwhelmed but sadly this is poorly made- i had big hopes the clamps are too harsh for any plant & play the same recorded melody whether you press on them with your fingers or plant. (Used it on 7 consecutively in same woodland - all the same amount of rainwater?) There is a Really tiny challenging pairing button very difficult to hold down, too but we can overlook that. Once i finally paired it, I found solely finger pressure played sounds so its not about your plants at all & the clamp snapped off. Hadn’t even used it for 5 minutes and broken This is a novel business that is clearly very concerned with their investment return (understandable, but not in first year) They profess conscious practices & seem like conscious great people, but it is a cheaply sourced final product. I was a bit Annoyed with upgrade sound loop option for more money request on app, too. The business asked me to file a report with shipper and to wait on a claim since it hadnt arrived by March when it was ordered last September. I really want to love this product, being an herbalist. ### 1/5 — What a STINKER! *2022-03-17, version 0.6* Well, after waiting over a year from the original kickstarter and several emails later… I finally received my unit. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Sound access is limited and absolutely no customization is possible unless you subscribe to a monthly app. This is not what I signed up for! For over 8 years I have worked in plant sonification, this limited base unit is nothing more than a toy. Additionally, PlantWave is not supported on a Mac PowerBook. When it did it was fantastic but since then every time I try to open the app it either hangs on the intro screen or there’s a button “Next” that cannot be pressed. iPhone 12 Pro 18.3 Also the app doesn’t work on M1 MacBook Air. No amount of factory resetting or deleting and redownloading fixes the issue. I’m a software engineer and trying to debug the app lead me to some really shotty programming. Really disappointed because this is such an amazing piece of technology. ### 3/5 — Great idea … but crashes *2023-10-09, version 0.9.16* I’m testing the Waveplant device and using the pro version of app. Using latest firmware and the app suddenly crashes also using the Pro version so truly disappointing to pay for this. No idea what’s happening. ### 3/5 — MIDI function costs extra. *2023-07-18* Fun to make music with, but bummed that you have to pay extra to use the midi function. It isn’t clearly stated anywhere on the site that this would be the case, so on top of the $300 device, you have to have a $40 subscription to use all of its functionality. **Developer response:** So sorry to see there's confusion, here. You'll be happy to know MIDI functionality does not cost extra! MIDI functionality and device settings are a part of the standard features of our app to give musicians like you full agency of how your device works with other instruments. Advanced MIDI Settings can be found in the Device Settings menu, where you can enable / disable MIDI, choose MIDI note channel, MIDI CC number, root note and scale type on your device. This allows you to connect your PlantWave directly to a DAW or synth via a MIDI cable (with a 3.5mm TRS Type A adapter), via WiFi or via USB with full MIDI functionality. I had high expectations since it’s very expensive. The pairing button is hard to push, but it is a beautiful little box. My favorite sound is the “Signal” but they all just seem like pre recorded sounds. I’ll have to play with this a bit more to be convinced. But this app has really changed how I move through my day. I got interested because I was listening to Plantwave music on YouTube at night. Got this as a gift from my partner two months ago and have used it every day since. First of all, we can acknowledge (as the makers do), the plants themselves are not “playing music”. Rather, the plants are experiencing shifts in energy (as I understand it), and the Plantwave translates data from these shifts into various notes, durations, spaces, and instrumentations. I have to say that I deeply appreciate the science AND artistry that have gone into the translating. I find the music more calming than most other meditative music I’ve tried. For me it’s something about the randomness of the tone sequences and the fact that there is never a repeating “melody”. I listen while sipping coffee in the morning, while working at home, and while sleeping (with a different “soundset” for each). The melodies it creates are calming and perfect for relaxation or meditation. They help me sleep and it’s a unique way to connect with nature and learn the secret rhythms of plants.
